G2 X-brace question. (center skid?)
 

Im new, so I'll start by saying hi!

anyway, I was looking to buy the G2 CF chassis kit for my e-maxx, and was wondering if you could get some sort of center skid for it.

i was planning to use the RPM front and rears I already have, but I was hoping one could protect the chassis with a plastic piece.

Welcome to the forums. You will like it here and im sure you will learn alot. As for the chassis, well, there isnt much you can do. AE makes some kind of clear protective film that a few poeple on the forum use but im not sure were to get it.

you might be able to use a thin peice of lexan to cover it.

just get some acrylic from home depot and dremel it out once you have it mounted. Should work wonders

carbon fibre is really tuff stuff - It will take quite a pounding ( or scratching ) and im betting it will look a lot better than some acrylic when scratched up. I havent heard of anyone scratching thru their chassis if that is a concern..

The Team Associated chassis protection film is actually very good. You can cut it to fit just about any situation and the adhesive holds it on well.

When used on the bottom of an off-road 1/10th vehicle, it can keep the chassis underside looking like new forever :)

not quite related, but too lazy to make another thread:

do you need any other screws if you buy all the x-brace chassis pieces seperately (seems you save 20 bucks by doing so)? I was wanting to get the aluminum lower brace so I could have matching skids (still have the two CF upper plates though).

EDIT: NM. 8 8mm flathead screws.

You will need the screws to attach the chassis together and to the bulk heads. They are 3 mm screws for the record. I am not sure on length right off.

can't you just use the screws you already have in those places? (unless theres some extra holes or something)

no, there are MANY extra holes.

If you are refering to the stock ones. There is not enough and they are the wrong length. I can think of about 18 screws right off top of my head you will need. I may be off be a few though.

i dont think that will fit, theres no point of adding more aluminum to it anyway.

like some long straight plastic skid that would mount into those 8 holes on the bottom of the lower plate.

Doable, i made one for my savage as well. (from 3mm thick black plastic)

On my cf chassis i use a 1mm thick aluminum plate, held in place by double sided tape.

Stock screws won't fit, because they are not machined.. and they are too soft too, you will ruin your braces with it.

Did you included the front and the rear upperdeck in your calculations?

Why not buy the carbon fiber right of the get go. Run the bottom carbon fiber plate until it breaks.

I dont want just the CF kit, plus mix and matching certain pieces will save a little and looks better IMO.
