Any Plans for a Sensored Mamba Monster?
 

Do any of you Castle guys know if a sensored version of the MMM is in the works? If not, why?

I'd love to have the reliability of the MMM with the smooth startup of the RX8.

I would dump my 2 RX8s in a heartbeat if CC were to come out with a MMMPro.

I have already dumped my 3 RSPros.. Sold one and the other 2 are just sitting on the bench..

Also w/the service of castle...a perfect combination!

It sounds like this could be a reality? Just dreaming here, but what if castle was using the mmpro as it's testing per say for it's big brother..just wishing and dreaming

I would like to see a few sensored outrunners myself. Corner the market on crawlers, and at the same time offer the "special needs" guys (like myself - TATER TOTS) something...umm..special.

Really? How much are you willing to pay? I can sell you one of mine that's is beyond reliable. Never missed a beat in the 18months i've had it in my Losi 8..
Seeing that you can only get unreliable ones atm, you can have one of my rare / limited edition reliable MMM for $600. :lol::lol::lol:

What's the deal with a sensored monster anyway???? It can't get that much more efficient can it? Of the mmm's I've had not all rated 100% but they outshine other brands I've had (but not the RX8, never had one). Never had issues with jittering or cogging so I'm curious to know the difference. :neutral:

Since replacing the MMM with the RX8 in my truggy, I can tell the difference between the two. The RX8 was very smooth in sensored mode. This is not the case with the MMM.

A sensored ESC isn't meant to help with effieciency. I think sensorless is generally more efficient. The benefit of a sensored setup is much smoother start-up and never any cogging. If you have a MMM that doesn't cog at all, go with it. In 1/8 scale applications sensored is probably not as important as 1/10 because 1/8 tracks are less technical and easier to carry speed than 1/10 tracks.

Nevertheless, if you've driven a sensored RX8 you won't want to go back to sensorless (unless, of course, your RX8 has to be sent in for repairs every month). :no:

Like nougat said, sensored startups are butter smooth, and braking feels better too. You just have to try it to see. But most sensored/sensorless ESCs do go sensorless after a certain rpm, so you get the best of both worlds. Don't get me wrong, the firmware in the MMM is pretty darn good, but you will always have that minimum motor rpm requirement with sensorless systems, which is noticeable at low speeds and startup.

I may go sensored one day but no biggy for me, I only bash. I guess it would suit my lst2 if I ever get it going.

I got my RX8/1700kv T8 combo up and running in my mbx6t yesterday and I'll agree, sensored is very smooth. Darn near comparable to brushed at low speed and the transition to sensorless is completely seemless. Motor pulls clean all the way through the band.

Is that why most of the Crawlmaster/Revolver motors are no longer available? Is he done playing around? :lol:

then HH needs to get it done, i love my Crawl master and i could only imagine what a censored 8 pole outrunner would be like


here is my 2c on sensors

i owned afew Novak systems back in the day and they were nothing but problems, then came Castle and the MM, it was sensorless and for me anyway fail proof, i loved it and bought 2 MM and 3 MMM's as well as a HV110............but when building my race buggy last year i thought i would give the RX8 a try and i have to say the difference in control is amazing. so now i race with Tekin and bash with Castle.

i have a question...WHY!!!!???
the monster starts up really smooth anyway, who really wants to drive about at 1mph besides crawlers?
i hate sencored operation, waste of time IMO when castle has such good startup algorithms for their ESC's.

I don't want to go too ot, but there have been many who added sensors to an rc outrunner, in the e-biking world actually.

There are many builds on the forum that use an rc outrunner with an e-bike controller and in order to do that they need to add hall-sensors to the motor so that it would work with the controller. And I'm pretty sure that the sensored system used on an e-bike controller is the same with sensored model escs.
