Info found on RCGroups. Party hard? |
10C charging? Geez, Looks like I'll have to run some 220v lines to my hobby room...
Those might start finding their way into EVs, just gotta do something to make them safer in bad collisions...
didnt you just buy some 30C batts from turnigy? Have they arrived yet? I want to know how they perform with your 1520...
I bought some from yeshobby which are supposed to be the same as Turnigy. They should arrive sometime next week.
i was going to wait and see what you thought of them with your motor... but i just cant wait any longer! Need to get this thing running... im getting a little tired just pushinig my truck around the floor haha... need some powaaaaaaaaaa.
Anyway im going to order some now... Hopefuly i dont incur any customs charges... Those 60c batts sounds great... any lead time on them? |
I noticed they mentioned local USA & EU warrenty coming soon- that'll be a huge plus for a lot of guys.
Well, I just hope the USA & EU warranty won't harm the USA & EU prices...
Yeah, I doubt it though. Especially with the high amount of puffed cells and the shipping costs and time. None the less they perform great as long as you don't get a bad cell.
i think they mentioned nano-tech. i guess these are going to be LiFe packs. still worth checking out though.
might get a set of these just to see how they perform... obviously they wont have the longevity of hyperionns but they could be worth a shot

Nanotechnology, shortened to "nanotech", is the study of the controlling of matter on an atomic and molecular scale (per Wikipedia). Means nothing about battery type.
I don't see what the big deal is, MA has already had 60C packs for awhile
:yipi:they will be super cheap :)
With HobbyCity advertising in RC Magazines now, my greatest fear is that they get so popular that they start raising their prices ever so slowly, like the movie theatre, taking advantage of the demand. Sneaking in a quarter every once in a while, then before you know it, they are the same price as, well, Maxamps.
My fear, which seems to already be happening, is that all the packs I want are always out of stock. Now there are all the guys buying up huge lots of packs and then marking them up 300% and selling them on Ebay too.
i have been waiting over 3 months for my 40c packs to come back in stock and ship, i wonder how long it will take to get 1 of these?

i find myself checking atleast 3-4 times a day. |
The bad thing is their website isn't fast enough with stock updates that even if you order when it looks like there's still stock, by the time your order is actually processed, stock is out and you're on a waiting list for the next batch when you thought you had it. I had that happen to me before. But I notice is I buy 25C and 30C packs, there is usually more supply...especially the 25C, which is still plenty of discharge capability for my needs.
Victims of their own success.
I doubt they'll end up like maxamps though, or atleast not quite that bad anyway- we have alternatives now too ( yeshobby etc ) that are a similar spec and price  |
i'm about to give yeshobbies a try. blue lipo seems to be out and so is hobbyking. i'm glad there's another alternative now. it sucks to have to wait half the summer for another pack.

I got my 40C packs without an issue. Mind you, this was in January, but I had no troubles with waiting for them to go in stock. I have the Turnigy 3S 4000mAh 40C/50C packs. They are awesome by the way, I have yet to get them above 90 degrees F, running a MMM and Tekin 1550Kv motor in my MGT conversion with a center diff, badlands, and the truck weighs 12.5 pounds when it's RTR.

Two sizes listed as of now (3S 2650 and 4000, 45-90C) and 8C max. charge. haha of course you have some already...
So??? how do they work? Do they pack a punch? |
Those are hobbyking pictures if i'm not mistaken.
3S 4000 mah 45C Turnigy Nano Tech:
164mm X 62mm X 23mm 375 gr. 3S 4000 mah 40C Turnigy 150mm X 50mm X 22mm 372 gr. Those Nano Techs are large next to a comparable ordinary lipo. But the weight is basically the same. That's according to HC specs of course  |
Soon as my finances recoup a little I'll be buying a few.
i think ill def be using these nano techs for my 9s setup
i guess i'll be the guinea pig for the 5000mah 4s 45c pack.
edit: battery ordered! |
nice1! keep us posted on their performance. Do they come standard with bullet connectors?

Now with these super turbo packs you just have the 3 week wait for Hobbycity to pack and post the bastards!

i got my battery yesterday. it is a little longer and heavier than my 20c 5000mah 4s pack. instead of soldering a dean's plug to it, i decided to solder 5.5mm plugs on my MMM and made a deans adapter for the rest of my battery packs. i want to pull some serious amps from this pack and i don't think dean's would be enough. i will have to do some creative dremeling on my lx-1e's battery tray to get the battery to fit, but i will run it as soon as it isn't over 105F ambient here. i am afraid to run lipos in this insane heat after what happened a couple weeks ago. my 20c 4s pack swelled about 8mm thicker than it's original size and it got to over 140F. i threw it in a cooler and it went back to it's normal size by the time it was cooled down. this pack has seen about 60 hard cycles in my buggy and truggy and it has proven to be the best 20c pack i have ever used, but most of these runs were under 100F. |
