Has anyone converted a hotbodies lightning stadium pro????
Hello everyone! I was thinking of converting my Lightning stadium pro. It is in excellent shape. Have not Run it in over 2 years. I love converting nitro into brushless. The vehicle is very light. What I like is that it has 3 disc brake set up front and rear. I would like to keep the mechanical brake on this set up. i was thinking of modding Savage flux battery boxes on the sides. I'm a basher not a racer. Any advice or opinions would be Great.

Pics show a 2200 castle motor but now a 1518 resides in it running on 5s
Also using LST2 axles and Cen 23mm hubs http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/P6140004.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/P6140005.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/P6140006.jpg Number 2 that I sold last year http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/P6250018.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/P6250019.jpg |
Wow Nice Job on both your Conversions. I like them alot. How fast are they going?? How do you think they compare to today's current Stadium Trucks? MXB5T or MMXB6, losi 8ight RC8?? Thanks for Great photos!!!!!!

Yeah many people have, it was one of the most popular conversions a couple of years ago I think mike has all the parts you would need in the RC monster store here.
I converted it's twin the lightning buggy myself, although you might not recognise it now. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ethydro004.jpg Enough of that, heres a link for you. there were loads of threads for it but some were lost when the server crashed and some need there pictures updating, serum had a good on and I think squee forever had a good one to, maybe they will post here, |

The other one I sold was set up for the track and it worked very well but I feel that the LSP isn't as refined as the newer truggys. It doesn't seem to steer and handle as well, maybe in the hands of a lesser driver it wouldn't be as noticable but to me it was. |
LSP's are old school - I remember Serum did a sweet one way back. You should do a search on it. It was a huge inspiration for me

Heres some OLD pictures of my BPP LSP from when I bought it. :mdr: It looks quite a bit different now.

Nice Squee! I never did the LSP, but I did the 1/10 version a LONG time ago - here's what it looked like:

Thanks for all the response!! Everything will be old school. The losi 2.0 will be old school in 3 years. Hey squee, I love the side battery boxes. What were they from? What about the cage? Where is that from? What does it look like now? I have a maxamps 6 cell 5000max lipo I would like to use for this conversion. The castle creations mamba 2200kv is too high right? I would need what a 1700 or under?

Oh, and I went with the buggy front bumper and no rear bumper, put the sway bar back on the rear, and a dark red metallic CRT body with a Upgrade RC graphics kit. I think thats about all the stuff I've done to it. |
here was mine................. loved this truggy ran it on 3cell lol

Well I have a update! I have received my RC-Monster mount Came in lightning time. Happy with that shipping was alot for something that weighs ounces. I have added the brake servo for the mechanical brake. I will post pics when I figure it out. My next question is? I looking for top speed. I saw on ebay A new monster mamba for around 250.00 for the 2200kv set up. Or should I go for a 1600kv to 1700kv. for a 6 cell battery that I currently own. I found a losi xcelorin 2100kv set up for around 225.00.

Thanks magman for prompt response! I should have said 4 cells on the mamba monster 2200kv set up. I know you said that 5 cells was too fast on the 2200kv set up on yours. My question is? would the 2200kv set be OK to try on 5 or 6 cells with hurting the motor or esc? Thanks again
|
+1 stay away from the Xcelorin
If you plan on 4s, go with the 2200. If you go with 5s/6s the 1518 or 1520 would be better choices. |
Shock Question

I have the same set up on my brushless Lightning. If I remember correctly? All I did was add rear shock stand offs that were made for the lightning and I think longer bolts to go through them. And 4 more Lightning shocks. I did not have to change the towers for sure. Hope that Helps.
|
I used Ofna part # 36507 CNC'd shock stand offs and longer bolts with stock towers. Thats it !
I using Sportwerks Rear Buggy shocks in all 4 corners as well. I've recently redid the layout and installed a Castle 1520 and built my own Battery tray/ESC mount from Kydex http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...donutz/022.jpg |

BTW...will the Ofna Shock Standoffs work with the factory tower from HB...your's look different? |
