2010 RC-Monster Bash!

It's that time of year again. Everyone is making summer plans and requesting time off from work. I think we should start working on planning for this year's bash if we plan on having one. I'm up for any weekend that isn't a Holiday weekend.

Bondonutz 05.05.2010 12:10 PM

I just might be in the position for a road trip later this year, I'm curious to hear more ?

brushlessboy16 05.05.2010 01:23 PM

Im ready!

simplechamp 05.05.2010 03:34 PM

Depending on my employment situation at the time I may be able to come. I have family in Tom's River NJ and surrounding areas. How close is this to where the bash would be held? Or does the venue change year to year?

2 hours or more...

BrianG 05.05.2010 04:53 PM

I won't be able to attend yet again as I'm saving all my vacation time for a trip to Hawaii. I'm sure you'll understand if I choose Hawaii beaches over you guys.

On a side note, it appears I'll be getting married while there. I just found out yesterday that my fiancee and her mother have been researching and planning this for some time now.

bigsteel 05.06.2010 09:09 AM

I'd love to go,but as this is my senior year in highschool and I'm joining the navy in 2 months I doubt I'll be able to make it unless it's at an overseas base! Kinda wish I had time between graduation and enlistment to get there--Josh

swiftneed 05.06.2010 05:38 PM

WELL CONGRATS TO YOU BRIANG ENJOY THAT TIME AND HOPE YOU STILL HAVE THE TIME FOR RCM LOL eNJOY

E-Revonut 05.21.2010 08:44 AM

Bump... Is there any interest? Arct1k seemed to do most of the organizing the last couple years and he hasn't posted anything yet. I don't expect him to do it every year but he is a regular at the bash and generally has a lot of communication with Mike. We also haven't heard anything from Mike on this!

Arct1k 05.21.2010 08:55 AM

I'll try to speak to mike about it today.. cheers

Congrats man

Bondonutz 05.25.2010 06:19 PM

What exactly goes on at the "bash", what can a first timer expect to see or participate in ?
I'm thinking of a road trip this year and couldn't think of a better reason to do this, would like to meet some faces behind the user names and have some fun w/you guys.

Is this a couple day event or just one day, details please.

E-Revonut 05.25.2010 11:22 PM

It's a one day race event. Generally there are a few first time racers so no need to be discouraged. Last year there was also a get together at Finnster's in-laws place the night before with a bbq (unfortunately I was unable to attend). It's somewhat laid back and everyone is there for a goodtime and anyone will help you if they can, much like on the forum. Getting to put faces with forum names is awesome and I have met some incredible people. I have attended the last two years, which for me means a 3-3 1/2 hour drive each way and I have worked the night before and morning after each time I went. I have slept at least 4 hours in my truck each time as well, lol. It's a good time and I look forward to going again, and this time if tehre is anything the night before I will be there!

Bondonutz 05.26.2010 08:38 AM

Thank You sir, one more Q. Roughly when ,what month might this be happening ?

Finnster 05.26.2010 12:04 PM

Chris also talked last year about doing a Sat event somewhere else (like a crawl or something.) The trouble is a lot of people make plans to go, but as the date comes, time gets crunched and people end up cancelling.

If there is enough interest, I'm sure plans can be made again, tho its always hard as people are spread out all over the place and can't take a huge amt of time off to go.

swiftneed 05.26.2010 07:06 PM

I wouldnt mind attending HOPE I DONT NEED A TRANSPONDER

x2, but many places have house units

Arct1k 05.31.2010 09:05 PM

This is one of the venue option - Station 2 Middletown NY.

Its at a local firestation, facilities are great, power, water, compressor, toilets and great food all day. Very family atmosphere - Mostly electric...

Arct1k 05.31.2010 09:12 PM

FYI this years bash will be in support of Cystic Fibrosis... I just need to chat with Mike again to move along with fixing a date up...

Finnster 05.31.2010 09:18 PM

I've heard that's a nice track and lots of BL people go there. Nicer for more novice racers as barnstormers tracks were always very aggressive with large jumps. Lots of fun but lots of breaking too if you were not the greatest driver... *ahem*.. or so I've heard... :)

That looks like a pretty wide open heavy throttle track. Probably burn some mah on that layout. Lotsa long straight heavy throttle sections. Looks like it would be fun and high speed.

Although... I still like the crew and crowd at The Barn. I always liked going to that track.

E-Revonut 05.31.2010 09:18 PM

Although it's not a huge track it looks pretty good and would be very friendly to the short course trucks. I also think that since this is all for a charity the idea of it being at a firestation is awesome, not to mention I think it's pretty cool that a firestation anywhere has it's own RC track! Doing a quick search on Google map shows this isn't all that far from Barnstormers but it is closer to me! Might save me 15-20 minutes driving

Finnster 05.31.2010 09:21 PM

Middletown is very close to Chester. Just up the hwy on 17 a few miles.

E-Revonut 05.31.2010 09:21 PM

I know the long jump has become an annual thing at the bash but since that track doesn't seem to be the best for an event like that we could always have a pull off, truck tug of war type event!

brushlessboy16 05.31.2010 09:24 PM

Track I small, If people are coming from far and wide we should invade Trax70 Rc speedway in south jersey then caravan to NY

dibs on T-bro for a teammate!

Arct1k 05.31.2010 09:33 PM

We can still get a long jump going in the back stretch - The barn is the other option but they haven't been racing much last year and less this year. The facilities aren't as great but agree the track is better.

Station 2 is generally more 1/10th scale friendly but we still had a great time with the buggies and truggies - It was nice to run for a day and not break anything...

I could never finish a day hardly at the barn...

Arct1k 05.31.2010 09:38 PM

It looks like a great track - its southern NJ so a ways away from Mike...

I know mike would like to support something local but maybe this could be a Sat venue?

brushlessboy16 05.31.2010 10:12 PM

Either way saturday is a pre-bash day.. Its not gonna be at the barn, period, Why not make it the best it can be?

Finnster 05.31.2010 10:16 PM

I'm in Philly area, so either are fine w/ me. It would be nice to have a great track for those driving from far away. OTOH, I know its a trek for Mike tho, and he does so much to put it together, so we should keep that in mind too.

Does Trax70 have limitations on batts or anything like that?

Whatever works for me

swiftneed 06.25.2010 05:51 PM

so I found this post is anything happening this year ???

HotnCold 06.26.2010 07:39 AM

I was speaking to Mike just the other day about the Bash.. As soon as anything gets firmed up - Station 2 is definately a potential location. Were just trying to set up the date.... I will post any news here ASAP... Sorry for the delay.... HNC

HotnCold 06.29.2010 06:53 AM

OK - We have a tenative Date and Location for the Annual RC-Monster Bash.. Its looking like August 28th and tenatively @ Station 2 Raceway in Middletown, NY.

Finnster 06.29.2010 10:37 AM

Do we have an idea of the classes yet? Of course MT and 'uggy classes, SC 2wd.

Curious to what else people are planning on bringing. The CRT.5 class never really pans out (and many have moved on.) SC 4wd maybe?

I'm only planning on my Savage, and my truugy if I still have it by Aug.

Arct1k 06.29.2010 10:44 AM

I'm guessing but:

- CRT.5 (I've got 2)
- Truggy / Open Monster Truck depending on numbers
- MT / Open Monster Truck depending on numbers
- 1/8th Buggy
- 1/10th Open
- Open SC 4WD
- Open SC 2WD
- Stock SC 2WD (a lot of stock slashes at that track)
- Long Jump!

- Nitro classes Buggy /Open Monster if enough folks
