MBX-6T M-Spec or RC8T CE
Hey guys, in the next few months I am considering buying another truggy. I am considering these two for an E conversion. Right now I have a Losi 8T 2.0 converted. Any thoughts on performance or durability on these two?

I know from my own experience that my RC8Te (with some upgrades) is holding up pretty darn well (no breakage so far), and the worst stuff isn't even in the clips.
But I'm reading that the Mugen should be even thougher so from were I'm standing it looks like a win-win choice :) ps. Will you have one of the before mentioned truggy together with your 8T 2.0 or will it replace the 8T 2.0? |
Honestly, I think both are great trucks. Not sure you can go wrong with either. Each has their own characteristics and I'm not sure one is better than the other.

Mugen diff are maybe stronger than RC8 diffs, check the type of diffs spur on RC8T, helicoidal or normal, helicoidal is stronger and has a better efficiency.

Mugen, no question. I just sold my RC8T for my MBX6T and I'm so happy I did. Durability, design, performance, and weight are much better on the Mugen from what I've seen so far. My Mugen is 1/2 pound lighter than my RC8T was too with the exact same electronics and batteries.

I did build one RC8T for a friend and did not like it. Too many spacers to set the geometry. Front steering block bushings are very hard to set right. Shock mounting is strange.
Mugen is mugen so you cant go wrong. |
I would add the new XRAY XT8 2009 Specs to your list, it is just plain awesome! I am buying one of them as well as an XRAY XB808 2010 Specs and converting both to brushless. I have a few projects to finish first, but then I can buy them and start the conversions!

MBX6T guys will say get Mugen, RC8T guys will say get Associated.
Most newer truggies are the sheet. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have a 6T running only on 4s, and it is plain out beautiful. The build was super smart and the design makes sense (front steering set-up). The diffs are butter. I have raced the 6T since last September and have not broke anything yet. Watch this weekend, I break both front a-arms, sheer a diff, etc..) |

I am glad to hear so many good things about Mugen. It just backs up what some my local practice track guys are saying about durability. They also comment on how much better the steering is too compared to Losi. Thanks alot guys, keep the comments coming!

How much more convincing you do need ;)
Maybe an important point to take into consideration: parts, if you do not like to order online or wait long check out your LHS and see what brands they carry. |

My LHS is huge on Losi which I already have. I like the steering way better on the Mugen and I think it is more durable. There is another hobby shop that is about an hour away and they sell Mugen stuff. My LHS doesn't carry any Mugen or RC8T so that is why I was asking which one since I would have to order parts anyways.

@ tedo, same here. My nearest LHS s**** .. isn't great.
@ Sower, me neither since I hardly even break something (I'm or very lucky, or very skilled (nopes that not it) or I drive like a bitch). Last things I broke was an arm and some pieces of a shock from hitting a friend of mine while going about 40 to 45 mph with my Hyper Mini STe ... his toe didn't like that :P @ Ellwood BL, than it doesn't really matter. WOW! I have never seen a truggy check-out on a buggy like that before! In the beginning of the video, you could see the buggy was out accelerating the truggy coming out of the corners, but other than that, the truggy was equal or better in all other aspects!
I am assuming that the buggy was running a high-reving .21 engine, and the truggy was running a high-torque .28 engine, which would explain the buggy being able to accelerate faster (.21 engine getting to higher/max RPM quicker, along with the buggy being lighter), but the torque of the truggy's .28 engine helped it get the heavier mass of the truggy moving quicker during or after any mistakes, allowing it to recover more quickly. Anyway, that was an awesome video! And at one point, it looked like the truggy actually slowed down and waited on the buggy, so it could beat it again! |

i had a RC8T and copied Maifiled's setup sheet before the CE had come out and it performed AWESOME. but everything i have read about the MBX6T is amazing. in fact, my next build is gonna be a MBX6 buggy. i also had a MBX5T and it was very nice also. there are things i like about Mugen better and based on everything i have read and driven i would go with the Mugen. but, like already suggested, you cant go wrong with either one.
