Slash 4x4 PE finally finished! Race ready, hop-ups galore, pics!
So i had intended to do a build thread and post pics throughout my build but i got lazy. So here are some pics of the nearly finished truck. The only thing i am waiting on now is my Tekno M6 CVDs for front/rear.
I raced it for the first time this week and it performs amazing. I drove my friends stock Slash PE and i could not believe the difference in performance. My friend was very jealous of my setup and is now making some adjustments to his. I have some adjustments to make still using Steve Slaydens race setup as a guide. Here are the goodies on my PE4x4. I went all out on this one. Enjoy: -Neu 1512 1y 2700kv -MMP esc -JR9100s servo -Spektrum s3100 rx -Thunder Power 3s G4 45c 3800mah -Proline undertray -Outerwears shroud -Proline 17mm adaptors -Proline 1/8 buggy split six wheels for short course trucks (wanted the AKAs but not out yet). -AKA Enduros soft compound (these are a great tire, btw) -STRC shock towers fr/r -STRC steering bellcrank -Traxxas alum motor mount -Traxxas alum motor plate -Traxxas clear plastic motor cover -Robinson extra hard 15t pinion -Hot Racing 53t steel spur gear for center diff -Proline PowerStroke shocks fr/r -RPM fr/r bumpers, fr/r a-arms, nerf bars, mud flaps, spring retainers for shocks, front head light kit w/ ramtech LEDs -Lunsford titanium turnbuckle/hinge pin kit -Titanium and stainless screws throughout -Proline Chevy 1500 body http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/038.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/039.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/037.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/035.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/036.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/028.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/029.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/033.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/026.jpg http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/r...ujames/022.jpg |
Looks sweet. Probably the best build list on a Slash.

thanks guys. it really does a great job of getting around the track. it handles great too. i have some tweaks to make to really dial it in but overall i was happy. after racing my temps were motor=120* and esc=116*.
my track doesnt allow the buggy wheels so i am switching back to short course wheels. plan to run jconcepts rulux with AKA enduros. also, proline just came out with spring sets for their powerstroke shocks so now i can try different spring rates once those are available. i have still been considering going to a 1/8 buggy shock like some of you have done with the 8ight shocks but have not decided yet. for racing i found this. check it out: http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=506141 |
Definitely nice! I love the wheels! I have a set on order! and I can't wait for the AKA's to come out

What AKA wheels are you guys talking about? I haven't seen any news/press releases on new styles. Got a link?
|
|
both amain and tower show them due in mid May so i am expecting them anyday.

not sure what you mean? they make a shroud for the 2wd slash and 4x4 slash. whether your 4x4 slash is the PE or not doesnt matter, i think. i bought mine through TeamGoNads. they come in several different colors. that link you posted is the one i bought. although the pic might not be a 4x4 cuz it was the same when i bought mine. when i got mine it had instructions for a SC10 shroud but the package said it was a slash 4x4 shroud. does that help? |
this just in!
this just in! the novak 550s are in now! i know a lot of SC racers have been anxious to try them. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...tor-65T-3400Kv

skellyo,
how do you like that crossbrace tread? i havent tried it yet but it seems like it would be a good tread for the track i race on. the best tires for my track are calibers, bowties, goosebumps, cityblocks, and ibeams...and enduros as i found out this week. do they perform similar to these? |

I'm thinking of trying those Enduros out as well. I would like to get the Enduro/AKA wheel combo. I run on a red clay, hard pack track and I'm currently running Crimefighter M3's. Calibers do well on the track also.

hey skellyo, what kind of slashes do you have that are waiting to be built? any special plans for them? |
Ryu- I see you run 3s. How's the power delivery? We are limited to running 2s, hence the 1509/1Y (3600kv) I'm running. I'm almost having problems with the tires blowing loose. I have some punch control set and have to gentle with the finger at times. I'm wondering if the Enduros will help with traction in a soft/supersoft compound.

Sick slash man, definately looks race ready. My local track has a growing 4x4 SC scene so I will be setting one up for track duty also.
Kind of off topic question, but what is the OD of 1/8th buggy wheels like those sick AKA's? |

btw, if you are going to pick up a 4wd SC i would seriously look at the Jammin SCRT 10. i wish i had seen it before buying my slash. my slash does great but i hate how the motor/center diff assembly is put together. it is the biggest pain in the ass to get the motor out if needed. aside from that the jammin has aluminum chassis, steel cvd's, and overall is built more like a 1/8 buggy layout. i have yet to drive one but just based on layout i would say it could be setup to far outperform the slash. you should check them out and also the Ofna Hyper SC 10 looks pretty sweet. |
new pics
so because my MMP wouldnt work i threw in a MMM and had to change the layout a bit. also thew in a Hacker b50xl to try out. here are new pics. qualified 2nd and won the main in this weeks memorial day races out my track in the SC4wd class.

Very nice track indeed !
|
thank you! it is a great track this year, especially for short course. it looks bigger in the pics than it really is. its a very tight track and a blast to race on. unfortunately they havent been running any 1/8 classes this season as 1/8 drivers arent coming out since the track is catered more for 1/10 and short course.
a few minutes away though a new 1/8 track is being built and it is very large. cannot wait for that one! |
skellyo- Sure you don't want to sell those wheels and tires?
|
Ryu- If you are still looking for the AKA Pro 5 wheels, give these guys a shout:
http://www.shopnorcalhobbies.com/ They had a couple sets on hand. I gave them a shot and they came through. They look great with the AKA Cross Brace tires! I'll be trying them out tomorrow! |
