An attempt to clone the cc/Neu2200 motor
Have you guys seen this yet?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140412786971 Looks like an attempt to clone the CC/Neu 2200 motor. Haven't seen or heard of these guys before but the can and hardware look very similar, just no fins on the can. |

Just going from a .35mm lamination to a .2mm lamination more than doubles the cost of the stator -- but the performance difference at high RPM is extreme... So you get what you pay for. |
I completely understand Patrick. I was just throwing it up that as a warning.
If I can't run a CC/Neu motor, I'm going with a Neu motor. :great: |
Brushless T maxx?
Hi guys.I'm looking at getting a MMM for my summit.I was wondering if it'd be good enough to push a maxx.Has anyone done this? My Maxx is RPM'up,so indistructible.

That motor barely costs less than a real CC/Neu, and the quality and support just won't be there.

x3 For the extra couple dollars I'd rather just get the real thing

Why by an inferior motor, with inferior service, from an inferior company, when it will just die on you anyway and good luck getting warranty service. All to save a few bucks, kind of like the HW ESC's, I just don't get it when for just a little more you can have the best products on the market with the best support. |
So true! I toasted my 5700kv motor in my MMP equiped Ofna JL10e, they fixed it without issue. Their customer service alone is worth the few extra $,and thats not even counting the quality!
I was tempted to try a 1/5 conversion using chinese a chinese motor and esc. After hearing about the new 12s car ESC that CC is working on, I have decided to wait :) |
Pony up a few more bucks and get the real deal !
|
So, is this a true clone. I mean could you take the rotor from one, and slap it in the other? Are there specifics about this motor, that are identical to the CC ? When I think clone, I think something that uses the same blueprint, only lower quality components, and build, looser tolerences, ect. Is that what this is, or is it more built on the Neu design, but totally different ?
Either way, for the price , it sure seems very crazy to spend that kind of money for that motor. I bought my Flux 2200, for 92$ , and there seems little doubt, that the CC motor is the best out there, if the size and KV is what you want. |
allot of people would call it being a fan boy of worse, but castle has earned my support, as long as the continue to support us the same way i will be a life long customer, when i started in this hobby i did it cheaply and learned quickly this isn't a hobby for knock off or store brand anything, you play to plan in this hobby and your reward for buying name brans is fewer problems and less stress not to mention customer support

I met these guys in the Beijing RC Expo in early May. What I saw were HUNDREDS OF motors on their booth, dia. from 28mm, 36mm, 40mm... all the way to 56mm mammoth motors, each with multiple length versions. They also provide smooth can/finned can, sensorless/sensored, 2 pole/4 pole, delta/wye, all KV values, stiff leads/silicone wire/solder tab, colors in red/green/gold/grey/black...... OMG anything you can or can't imagine.

I put my temp guage and fans away when I got my Castle 2200s. I dont think I will be going back anytime soon. That is definetly not worth the $$$$ they are asking.

I got my 2200kv castle motor for $110, for a grand total of 33 cents more than the clone. I would much rather go with the real deal.

Motors = meh, but interesting perhaps. Boat = ZOMFG... **jizz jizz jizz** I like it even more than the new traxxas one- will definately have to fulfill my dream of a large-ish BL boat sooner rather than later  :intello: |

Lots of Cons with few Pro's, It is a big good looking boat tho ! |
Motor seems to be the main complaint though, and a few leaks reported- I can remedy that with a new motor & silicon sealant :mdr:
Im still looking around though, there are so many nice deep-Vs out there its hard to chose a single one, though I'd mainly be pootling around rather than racing at full-tilt constantly ( there is a nice square mini-harbour in the middle of town, lots of gormless tourists to impress over the summer.... ). clicky |
I know there is an active group of fast electric boaters in Tobay, I meet them at the nats every year, the south west area seems to be the most active FE area in the country, you may want to check out SWAMBC and go for a class capable boat in case you want to race in the future, I like bashing cars but nothing beats racing boats.
