MMMXL = Ice HV with car software?

Arct1k 06.12.2010 08:09 PM

Q-BASE Looks to be a variant of the Mamba Max Pro as it has cheat mode...

It also looks like the Axial ESC is brushed only and the same ESC is also going to be produced for HPI...

Congratulations Patrick and team...

V0RT3X 06.12.2010 08:12 PM

The Qbase will go with the new cheaper Savage Flux, 4S max:

http://www.lrp.cc/fileadmin/FlashKat...i-katalog2010/ (page 28)

Wonder what motor they will use?

Arct1k 06.12.2010 08:24 PM

http://www.hobbymedia.it/img/2010/05...-flux-2-a1.jpg

Its says 2350KV but i'm guessing an error and the 2650 KV 1512 - Castle has a Flux style motor can for the 1512...

Dammit man, I said I wanted the esc to be called the ICE Monster, why dont people listen to their customers!

TexasSP 06.13.2010 10:26 AM

So now it's MMMXL, one less letter than MMMIce so easier to type! :intello:

Curious as to the Axial brushed ESC and what it will go in? RTC MOA perhaps? Will it be like the holmes ESC?

So I wonder how long with this new 4s only savage the idgets will start trying to run 6s since it's and MMM pro and gearing for 70 then wondering why their ESC is blown?

Arct1k 06.15.2010 05:23 PM

Patrick is the XL the HV?

Any specs on the Axial ESC?

Pdelcast 06.15.2010 06:29 PM

The XL is the HV-ICE based MMM controller. We haven't decided on the name 100% yet tho... There is still some debate going on.

We did a LOT of testing today on the MMM-HV-ICE (or whatever we decide to call it) and got pretty much the rest of the bugs out. Extrusions are now in stock, still waiting on the last couple parts (fan, fan shroud.)

Should start shipping pretty soon -- still a little more testing to do on high voltages.

The Axial ESC is simply a low cost custom brushed controller that we designed for Axial.

great - more stuff built in USA (from globally sourced components for anyone in ca).

It looked like it might be 6s capable - correct?

Any chance of packaging 2 with that switcher setup and a bec?

:gasp::surprised::oh:

*Picks himself up out of the floor*

Give us a little heads up notice on when you start shipping the MMM-HV-Ice controllers. I would like to be one of the first to "get in line" for this.

Thanks! Way to go Patrick!

Is the MMM-HV-ICE still limited to 10S when using motor braking? Will using 12S require mechanical brakes?

That's correct. On 12S the regen braking can over stress some of the parts on the board.

BrianG 06.16.2010 09:58 AM

Can a daughter PCB containing proper TVS's (and maybe caps) be used to allow 12s operation with motor brakes?

It's possible -- we are experimenting with something now.

Electric Eel 06.16.2010 12:40 PM

Pat, could you post some pictures of the extrusion, please?

Kcaz25 06.16.2010 11:39 PM

All very exciting!

Savage-Flux 06.17.2010 05:25 AM

Only thing that I want, is that sick body, and 4s max? Sad.

Byte 06.17.2010 05:38 AM

MMM XL (Or ICE-HC) can do 10S? Hmm.. I'm going to build an E-Bike soon, first I wanted to buy a ICE-HC 130A controller, but now that the MMM XL is comming I might buy that one because I could also use it in RC-cars. Any idea what the price will be, someone?

EDIT: I'll use 10S in my bike, with the mechanical brake of course...

Jahay 06.17.2010 09:59 AM

REALLY CANT WAIT FOR THIS MMMXL!!!! 9s in a savage is going to be ballistic!

What about betas?

Who's got two thumbs and a HV Savage XL?

This Guy!!!

simplechamp 06.18.2010 09:00 PM

I like that the Q-base has solder posts like my MMP 1-cell version. Wish the regular MMP had those.

+1 I wish it had solder posts for all wire connections. i like to keep my wires neat and only the length I need them but since they are not replaceable on the MMP I dont want to cut them since i might want them longer on a future installation. Just looks sloppy with extra wire looped around.

nl12 06.20.2010 01:09 PM

MMM XL, need it!

Exactly what I was thinking. You either leave them long, or cut them down then need to splice wires or add extra bullets to make them longer again, and it's all extra resistance that isn't needed.

I was going to get a MMP for my CRT .5, but I think I'll get the Q-base instead, since it has the solder posts and I only need to run 3S.

I just backed off from making a purchase. I think I will wait on this esc also. I just wish I knew when it was being released.

Real soon. Did some Baja testing today on 8S with the 2028 motor. Was amazing. We depleted a 5000mah pack in about 3:30 -- ESC was at about 50C (20 degrees above ambient,) motor was at 70C, and batteries at 80C (a little hot on the batteries...)

If I get a chance this weekend, I post up a vid.

sikeston34m 07.02.2010 05:23 PM

Thank you for the update Patrick.

Congratulations on your success..........

If you Build it.............I will buy it. LOL

ZippyBasher 07.02.2010 07:06 PM

80C? bATTERIES~! HOLY CRAP! Thats pushing 175f. Did they Puff and What kind of Cells did you use? Avg. 85A. cont. Damn!

BTW I am very Excited about this release. High Voltage.

They were Desire packs, 40C discharge rate, 5000mah.

They didn't puff, seemed fine after cooling. We balanced them and then did some more testing. Completely destroyed the rear tires in about 2 mins on pavement. We took a picture with a FLIR and the tire temps were hitting 120C+ ... they just shredded.

Was a lot of fun.

I'm off to China on Monday to approve the motor and get it into production! Should know in about a week when the first deliveries will be ready.

Real Soon Now. :yipi:

ZippyBasher 07.02.2010 11:27 PM

HaHa Great! Thanks Patrick. Sounds Sweet. Have a Great Trip.

Jahay 07.03.2010 03:51 AM

wahay! thanks for the update

Arct1k 07.03.2010 06:39 AM

Patrick - Sorry to trouble you please could you check your PM... Thanks

mini_t racer 07.04.2010 03:10 AM

its great to see castle at the top of this game but its time to see hpi traxxas ofna and others step up there game and build a truck buggy or car that can take the power that these system can put out with out needing to be upgraded
keep up the great work at castle ps is there any chance we will see the new controllers installed in the savage flux or erevo brushless in the future

Bondonutz 07.04.2010 10:54 AM

Subscribed and anxiously waiting.

Bmr4life 07.06.2010 10:26 AM

What kind of price are we talking about the for MMMXLHVICE?

Jahay 07.06.2010 10:32 AM

Haha the name for the MMMXLHVICECARVERSION just keeps getting longer...

I think you are just going to have to release us the official name... Oh yea how much are we looking at?
