This has to be the dumbest school ever!
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...wyzBwD9GD56SO0
Seriously, I could not believe I was reading this and it was a legitimate news story. Plastic freaking army men violate a zero tolerance policy? How exactly does one use a plastic army man holding a weapon in a threatening manner? I could do more damage with a pencil eraser. |
Isn't this the same state that had the big fight over wanting to fire a huge number of teachers?
I can see why now.... |
I swear to Christ,if I see one more story about some school banning the dumbest stuff for no good reason I'll lose my damn mind.I just graduated and they were pretty easy on us but there were still a few teachers who were way on the liberal side,I got taken to the office for a WW2 diorama that I had put an EMPTY m1 carbine shell on,this S#%] is getting ridiculous.I own guns, I hunt, I target shoot and I just joined the navy, and I'm pretty sure my experience with guns and knowledge of them hasn't affected me in a bad way. This phobia of guns our nation has seemed to gone into is getting way outta hand.--Josh
|
And to throw this idea out there,if those teachers had any idea what a guy my size could do with a ball point Ben or a pencil, you think they would ban them to?--Josh
|
The fact is if someone wants to hurt or kill people they are going to find a way to do it, whether they have a gun or not. There should be more focus on observing mental health, and getting help to people who are at risk of committing such acts. This is especially important for youth. Unfortunately it's far easier to just say "Let's ban anything having to do with guns."

"agreed. Guns don't kill people, people do"
abso-freakin-lutely, and we've been doin it without guns for thousands of years --josh |
That is just stupid... I've got half a mind to buy all of the army figures on eBay and dump them in the hallways of that school.
|
Now that would be funny.
Now that would be a funny story to read about. School staff had to take the day off because access to the school was denied by hallways filled with tiny plastic army men standing gaurd.
I understand the school management not wanting to promote the wrong message to its children or that of the visiting school by video, but sometimes they just go too far not realizing how foolish they look when they go overboard with their authority. Considering that they were getting ready to share the day with a foreign school I can see the concern of what image they were sending, but really what harm would it have done. I bet if a lawyer would have gotten involved it could have been considered as a violation of his civil right to bare arms. Considering they were tiny little plastic weapons that are pretty much harmless to anyone the school would have lost that argument. Their argument was obviously about promoting war with its children, which is kind of lame. |
"Thats right Charlie, our military uses flowers and baked goods to win wars. Especially those first two World Wars, flowers played an outstanding role in winning those two battles."
I once thought owning a weapon was a constitutional right. Was I wrong. Pretty sure when a kid thinks of army and soldiers they think of guns as well. These kids are playing more freaking violent video games anyway. Makes me wonder if the ripped those pages out of all of the dictionaries and encyclopedias as well. |
I have seen what a kid can do with a sharpened pencil, maybe we should ban those from school? I have seen what a kid can do to another with a full book backing swinging from around his back in a fight, maybe we should ban those? I had a kid put staples into my hand because I pissed him off, maybe staples should be banned from school? I have seen people make pipes from apples to smoke pot, maybe we should ban those from school?
Of course maybe allowing real discipline back into the school and correcting behavior would help? I mean, it seems that the more we remove reasonable discipline measures the worse it gets. Maybe we should got back to teaching basic respect and manners in kindergarten and preschool and requiring children to understand and follow these principals before moving up. |
You can't hit my kid. Who the hell are you to hit my kid?
And.... Begin lawsuit! |
This is pretty funny.
Maybe he should go into school with a huge tub of the soldiers and dump em in the office, and just walk out.. I want to see the look on the face of the office people when they duck under the tables because they're "dangerous"... Anyways, my friend in a school was stabbed in the hand with a incredibly sharpened pencil. Left a nice, dark, graphite, hole... Still has a mark, maybe we should have stab-proof pencils. Hmm |
It would be funny if it weren't true. Schools are such a joke. My stepkid got in trouble by pretending to be in a knifefight with another kid (nothing in either of their hands - totally pretend). My kid got in trouble playing tag because you aren't supposed to play games where touching each other is involved. These kids are either going to grow up repressed or a bunch of pussies (excuse the french).
|
No tag!?!? Wow! I thought that was pretty much at the foundation of school games at that age.
How do they play football, remember two hands? Society has really taken a turn in the wrong direction. |
It's really starting to remind me of Demolition Man. Everything bad for you has been deemed not good, and henceforth illegal.
We should just be hooked up to the matrix, were everything is virtual and we can't really be hurt. Or I guess it's more like surrogates? Maybe even iRobot........... BrianG, I think your term befits this perfectly. We will turn everyone into pussies, scared to look at their own shadows. Or it will backfire like everything else and we will turn our kids into psychopaths due to there lack of interaction and touch. Touch is a huge thing. So I wonder, are finger guns on the playground against school policy too? I guess you have to be careful when pointing if so as to not be misconstrued as a threat? |
The kids are already turning into total pussy's, how many times have you seen the little suburban gangster assholes that try to act all hard but couldn't beat a drum if it came down to a fight, my school was filled with them, acting tough, being disrespectful constantly. But they would always get in "fights" within earshot of a teacher so they couldn't get beaten to badly before it was broken up.--Josh

yea pencils are dangerous...... seriously i got stabbed with a pencil in the stomach in middle school by this crazy girl, me and my friend were just sitting in the back of the class talking between periods and laughing about something that happen and all of a sudden the crazy hoe turns around and stabbed me..... i stood up with a pencil stuck in my stomach and screamed "HOLY Sh*t" which of course got my teachers attention. The student teacher who was sitting in on the class drove me to the hospital.
i agree that they should focus on the little poons mental health before anything else. |

Regardless, I managed to put my knee up quickly to block her, then I slapped her right across the face. Hard. Everyone looked up from their tests in shock. Teacher took us out in the hall and talked to us. He saw what she did, told me I shouldn't hit people, but saw I was defending myself. She got sent to the office with a big whelp on her face. For the rest of the week I had everyone in school stopping me in the halls and giving congrats. The crazy girl had her own little hate club of other catty girls, and they gave me some silly award they made. Didn't keep the thing tho. I didn't really want an award for hitting some crazy girl, and the only time I ever have. More of a reflex thing anyway as I had a barely younger brother I wrestled with almost everyday. Strange tho.... No tag anymore? WTH?! |

Pencils will be gone in time I imagine. As well as teachers, they will both be replaced by computers. |
They have robot teachers in japan...
And yes, you can get into trouble for pointing 'finger guns' at other kids in school, as has been reported in the press a little while back. Its just the culture these days, you got to cover your back and prevent anything & everything remotely scary, dangerous or non-PC from occuring in either the work place or schools etc. When I was at primary school there was a psycho girl, she would throw insane tantrums, screaming and shouting and hiding under the desk; the head teacher would come and drag her out from under the desk, rag her into the hallway or even outside the building until she calmed down or her parents ( scum of the earth type, funnily enough ) came to take her home. I cant imagine a teacher being allowed to even touch a pupil these days, let alone drag them outside- hence why they ( teachers ) snap occasionally and beat the pupils half to death with a dumbbell ( true story, goole it ). Hopefully in time as our generation become the teachers, lawyers, doctors and politicians, we will see a common sense approach to these things brought back in, with all the namby-pamby rules and laws scraped and the all the leftwing politically correct crap thrown out the window. |
Our schools here have cameras on the busses, cameras in the halls, cameras outside at recess, with nobody actually watching them to stop something really bad happening In real time. Just covering their A$$.
My kids need ID badges to get into their school(fees for lost badges generates income) . When 95% of the time, I can smile and wave at the women in the office, and walk right in without question. They like to push the kids around with BS then they fold to adults. Anybody remember Cowboys and Indians (now it's Cow-People & Native Americans) how about Cops and Robbers? "John Spartan you have been fined for profanity. Please enhance your calm." |
I love it in the restroom when he keeps cussing so he can wipe his butt, that was classic!
|
Ahhh, Utopia- Unfortunately, that's where we're headed!
