HPI 1/12th Trophy Truck

http://www.hpiracing.com/press/103034.htm

Interesting for them to do a 1/12 instead of 1/10. I like the SC8-style rollcage and it looks like it has a more realistic swing-arm suspension (although it is still independent, not solid axle.)

Hmmm... that's weird it was working fine when I made the thread, but didn't last long? It had tons of pictures.

Looks super dope !

JThiessen 07.04.2010 11:46 AM

Did any of you catch that rear suspension?

Bondonutz 07.04.2010 11:47 AM

Simliar to 1.1 Trophy trucks, I like it.

What's_nitro? 07.04.2010 12:11 PM

Ahhh! Plastic!

It looks like a "toy" with all the black plastic everywhere. That would have to change before I bought one.

What's_nitro? 07.04.2010 12:30 PM

Haha you know what I meant...

rootar 07.05.2010 12:54 AM

actaully looks farily tough with the short beefy arms that are all sweeping rearward..... slighty toyish but i think itd be a neat truck to have and run.

phatmonk 08.14.2010 11:44 AM

Can a CC MMP fit in one of these?Have any of you guys bought one of these yet?TH has these available with coupon less then 200 bucks

Bondonutz 08.14.2010 12:00 PM

I just got the RC Driver mag with a article on this truck, very interesting little feller.

You talking about the 36mm can ?

I'd opt for the MicroPro with the 26mm can instead. It "might" be the perfect combo for that truck without knowing what it weighs ???
A 540 can would be ideally better if It'll fit ?

phatmonk 08.14.2010 05:50 PM

Well a Neu/CC 36mm 1400 series SC motor with a MMP of course

Do you think the Micro Pro and 26mm would be enough? (not disagreeing with you, just honestly not sure)

How close in size is this thing compared to the 1/12 CRT .5 or Hyper Mini ST? Seems like those are usually set up with 1/10 electronics, so I figured this HPI truck would be suited for that too, unless it's that much smaller?

Bondonutz 08.14.2010 07:08 PM

I was looking closer at the article earlier and even though it doesn't say, the picture of the motor looks like HPI stock motor which is a Saturn 27T mill and If it is then it's definitely a 540 size. Then a BL 36mm will def work and be the better route !

Jason,
I've completely rebuilt your SC18 with a BL combo and repaired the radio,if your curious send email addy via PM and I'll send you some pics.

scarletboa 08.15.2010 12:40 AM

there is a guy running a cc4600 with his geared for about 35mph on 2s at the LHS and the motor gets a little too hot (100f ambient doesn't help) so i think anything less than a 540 motor would just not cut it.

phatmonk 08.15.2010 07:56 AM

Well HPI shows the HPI version/Sidewinder ESC/Motor combo as a Option

agarabaghi 11.07.2010 09:50 PM
