1/5th Brushless out of the box?!
Cenn Racing is doing it:
Sorry if this is old news, than just delete the topic please. |
Ok, I have to say, im actually impressed with that, despite it being a CEN product. What the hell could be powering that sucker? The required lipo's to move that much mass will be helluva expensive.
|
i would say its running 6s.... 40c+ tho... as it must draw quite alot...
it has motor breaks by the sound of it... so name an esc that would come in an rtr that can handle more the 6s... with motor breaks... those diffs need a heavier oil... :S rear tire ballooning is a bit weird :P redcat do an rtr brushless truck... looks quite similar to this one... and it runs 6s as well :P |
RedCat ... I couldn't remember the name ... I was searching for XceedRC :P
|
haha :P
redcat seem to be making some sweet 1/5th models... i'm tempted by 4wd the brushless buggy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yipr_8KA7gY |
That's pretty sweet. Its want I want to get to w/ my Savage.
Needs some work to tame the wheelies a bit tho. I bet that would get annoying to drive fairly quickly, considering you have to let off the gas just to turn :p |
Um - I'm sorry but, based on that video, I would never, ever buy one of those. I like to drive, not wheelie. That's idiot stuff - If I want that, I can go back to a brushless rustler. Again, sorry.
|
redcat is where its at ;)
|
this is not going to end well...:whip:
|
Well, at least the RTR will be out of the price range of the TRX noobs. That should cut down on the number of repairs CEN has to do.
|
FYI; I'm NOT interested in buying this, just wanted to share.
Brian, it's also a matter of trottle control, my Flux XL does the same but with a bit of punch and finger control it's alright ... not like my MBX6Te ofc, but that's apples and pears (I hope that's a saying / phrase in the US, I freely translated it from Dutch). |

Whoops ... I will try to remember that
|
Pears are good, too.

I think this just became a serious conversation.

Heres a pic of the Redcat 1/5 Brushless 4wd Buggy thats in the works. Testing has already began, and I should have a proto in the coming months. I dont have alot of specifics like weight, battery compartment size or anything just yet. Roller weight should be in the 5-6kg range at most, I just hope they offer rollers to everyone. I PMed Patrick at CC about getting the mounting dimensions of the MMMXL so I could possibly have the buggy prepared for it to drop right in.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/Tmp00023.jpg If you want more pics I can post them. You guys can have the wheelies, id rather have on track performance :) |
Badass, I want one. Looks like my lst just bigger. I am sure whith normal driving it will do fine, but have the power to do the fun tricks and stunts. I wonder what power system they are using...

its all in how you drive it , those guys were just grabbing handfuls of throttle to show off we can all do that, i commend them though would like to see the price tag, i think i am going to do a 1/6 scale of my e-maxx why not everybody else is going big

Lots of load on that motor, seems like they were trying to run it at lower rpms to match the gas motor's rpm band. I think higher motor speed (30k plus) and some addl reduction is a must for 1/5 scale stuff. Unless you plan to run a 2230 neu you need the lower gearing to drop the crazy load and amp draw on the smaller motors. I can see a 1527 working nicely, running 10 or 12s and spinning 35k max with the truck geared for about 45mph. Some 5k 40c lipos would give decent runtimes at 10s or more. Sounds like the new MMM hv ice omgwtfbbq esc with 4whl mech brakes running 12s lipo would be a nice setup, with a 700-800kv 1527. Might have to add some gear reduction, like what Dan Kershaw did with his baja conversion. HV would be a requirement with 1/5 4wd, and a ligher electric specific chassis would be nice. |
Lots of info in this thread, and a few more pics and vids :)
http://www.redcatrampageforum.com/showthread.php?t=3919 Plus I have a few pics that show the ESC and motor. I also have alot more pics in an album on my user profile on that site. I dont see a way to have a mech brake setup without doing some custom modifications. I think 10s with ESC braking using the MMMXL omfgwtfbbq CC ESC will be very effective. I understand you wont have a front/rear bias, but it has a center spool instead of a diff. So its kind of a moot point :) Im considering using a 2215 @ 750KV on 10s and gear it appropriately of course. If anyone has any questions regarding it, please feel free to PM me and I will try my best to get the answer for you. Bear in mind im just a regular guy like everyone else so they might not be willing to share all of the juicy details just yet. |
I hope they weren't taking tips from this guy.
