Leopard brushless motor
Anyone have any experience with this brushless motor from Kershaw Designs?

Try one and let us know

The cat on the motor looks like a cougar to me, like a very specific cougar to be precise...
Non the less the can makes a good impression. Would be interesting to know if the innards can keep up with the looks. |

maybe the spots are simply a shade different color than the body?

Looks almost Cheetah like - i met this one when I popped by to see my mother-in-laws neighbours in Kenya

i've been eyeing these for a while now. they come cheap from overseas and most likely worth a try.

The bif 1/5 scale leopard looks very interesting. Seems like a much cheaper alternative to a 2215, slightly longer and probably has a very similar diameter rotor given the case dimensions and lack of fins. Could not find a spec on a smooth can new 22 series motor, but the leopard 5692 is longer than a 2215 and shorter than a 2230. If it can push 2500 watts cont it would be a good motor for a baja conversion...Wonder if a MMM could handle it? Maybe go with the lowest kv model, mech brakes, and the new castle omgwtfbbq esc on 12s...
Or 10s and have the esc brakes for rear and some hub mounted mech brakes for the front. With a mixing capable radio you could tune the bias easily, and have presets for different surfaces. Very Nice, I like!!! |

It's kinda funny, I was just at Kershiz looking at that 5692 for a Boat I'm building to run on 12s. The price is def friendly enough but I'm also thinking of this beast here;

Wasn't there already a discussion about these motors in the Castle section? I believe the topic was Leopard cloning CC motors, funny how Kershiz (good nickname Bondo) is basically touting they're clones. In the CC thread Patrick was explaining how they could only make them cheaper than a cc motor by skimping on the laminations. The big one is tempting for a large scale project I'm contemplating though.

I tell you what, ride my coat-tails a bit and you will see how great the lst is... Whoops. TOO LATE. You already did that... Amazing how I can take an 8month break and still have cooler stuff that you Harold. Maybe if you cut down on the porn, and lust over Jeff's "coin purse" you might be able to get something done. And wash your hands, the jergens is making your keyboard all slimy. As far as me shooting stuff, I do more building than shooting. If you thought my rc collection was excessive you should see the other "toys"... HAHAHAHA (none of them infate so stop being jealous). |

>on topic: Like Lincpimp that 22xx size motor has only a 6mm shaft. Besides disappointing the wife, what do you guys think about the 6mm shaft? |
Someone needs to get one of these motors.
Open it up and take pictures for us. We need to see how well made they are. |

6mm give better pinion choices for mod1. Not sure what coices you have for mod1.5. I kinda like the kershaw reduction setup, with this motor and 10s lipo for the 5b. Pity it is not 4wd. |

With them being inexpensive one would have limited expectations of course. |
I would guess these Leopard motors are on the same page as the OK Hobby 4-pole I'm trying out. They can get the job done, and are better than 2-pole XL Feigao clones, but still can't match a Castle, Neu, or Tekin in quality or performance.

I could have sworn I seen it for $59, but now the price is $95 bucks. They must have forgotten to add Obama's cut! |
The weight is interesting, but I am afraid that the bearing aren't as big as the bearing on the NEU/Castle motors ... Keep us posted !
