I am new, and make the move to Brushless

I am new to the forums, And I got a E-Maxx and now going to make the move to Brushless and like to know what you think about the setup I was thinking of?

motor - Feigao 540 9L

Controller - Warrior 9920

I race alot revo and other nitro trucks, and a would like to win. If any one is runing this setup?
what is you run time, and power?
Do you like it?

Sounds good but need to know how many cells you will run, weight of truck, gear set up, etc... I am running a 9918 and a 8XL with 14 GP3700's and it runs about 40 mph ( my guess) and run time is about 20 min's. And a brushless setup will burn a nitro truck up LOL. Oh welcome to the forums:027:

g man 04.08.2006 01:29 AM

i agree with mmdooley . iam running a 12020 and an 8xl with 4200 18cells the truck is brutal .just remeber you still have to be able to controll it . and wecome to the forums . you will find all the poeple on here are good and a great help .i nearly bought some crap but talked on here and every body helped. just remeber if you go for power you will have to do some upgrades

farmer 04.08.2006 01:04 PM

I was thinking of runing 14cells (3800 or 4200). The truck weight is same as stock but, I would like to get Gorillamaxx chassis some time. I will need help with the gear set up?

coolhandcountry 04.08.2006 02:08 PM

I not sure if I would run a 9l on 14 cells. I have heard alot of people have heat problems. The 10L should be better option.

mmdooley 04.08.2006 02:25 PM

I am running a 8XL and 9920 on 14 cells and have not had any over heating. And it halls azzzz lol.

farmer 04.08.2006 02:27 PM

Ok, a 10L that will work. Anyone runing a 10L, do you like it?
Should I look a any different motors.

farmer 04.08.2006 02:45 PM

So now a warrior 9920 Brushless car controller
and Feigao 540 10L good? Help on gear setup?

What do you think run time would be with 14 cells(4200)
and would it do any thing with the nitros?

coolhandcountry 04.08.2006 03:15 PM

The 9920 will work will with the 10L. For gearing what pitch gears you run? What size spur? What kind of diffs? What size or kind of tires?

g man 04.08.2006 03:17 PM

dont know a bout the10l but i know the xl8 blows the doors off them . iwas told a while ag0 that xl run cooler than the l

Sylvester 04.08.2006 03:20 PM

Hey g man, the 10l has been a very good motor, it does run a bit hot, but it is still ok, the rcm heatsink help alot, and the xl motors do run cooler, due to longer armatures, and more torque:)

g man 04.08.2006 03:32 PM

sylvester how does the e revo go compair to gorilla max with g3

farmer 04.08.2006 03:34 PM

I know that I will be runing stock tpye diffs (robinson racing diffs)
stock size tires (pro-line bow-tie)
runing 32pith and as for spur and pinion goes what do you think?

8XL worth going with?

g man 04.08.2006 03:37 PM

i think it is but you will have to upgrade diffs and drive shafts

g man 04.08.2006 03:39 PM

if you want a truck thats of the plant go for it

farmer 04.08.2006 03:43 PM

Thats ok, I dont mind to upgrade to blow the doors offthe nitro trucks

BK wonderer 8XL run good with 9920 and 14cells

g man 04.08.2006 03:55 PM

yes they do. i went for the 12020 instead of the 9920 . but 9920 are very good

coolhandcountry 04.08.2006 03:59 PM

If you want some all out nitro kicking butt power the xl will definitely be good for that. Check out the link to my videos at rc pics. It has a 9xl in there to give you an idea.

farmer 04.08.2006 04:13 PM

that thing was make some power. coolhandcountry, so that was a BK wonderer XL8?
what is your spur and pinion

farmer 04.08.2006 04:33 PM

I think I will go with
9920, wonderer XL8, with 14 cells

boss 302 04.08.2006 05:29 PM

you will not be dissapointed with that.

farmer 04.08.2006 05:57 PM

think you all for the help.

g man 04.08.2006 06:02 PM

farmer that was an xl9 the xl8 has even more punch

farmer 04.08.2006 06:54 PM

I see that now, man that XL8 will run good,
spur and pinion?

mmdooley 04.08.2006 08:50 PM

I am running a 8XL and the gear setup is a strobe slipper which is a OFNA 51 tooth spur and mod1 16 tooth pinion 5mm hole for the motor which has a 5mm shaft. Get a 14,16 and a 18 for ajusting.

coolhandcountry 04.09.2006 10:01 AM

I think I was running a 16 51 gearing with 1/8 buggy diffs. I wanted to get as close to stock gearing as possible. Testing purposes. It was a bk 9xl I think or a nemisis 9xl.

farmer 04.09.2006 11:45 AM

I seen some brushless minis run at a indoor track, and they was bad. I think they could take my nitro rustler on a dirt oval.

farmer 04.09.2006 11:48 AM

I am going to get the setup asap.
