My ofna ultra lx1e
Hey!
Just finshed getting the ofna 100% ready to run! :D http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000602.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000601.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000600.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000599.jpg Using a 2650kv MMM on 4s..Put on the Tbone bumper set, and some 10k oil in the center..and some new wheels :D Wondering..what should be next on my list..from what I've seen though...I think it'll last a while before something goes :P |
Looks great, beat the snot out of it !
4s & 2650 should be plenty fast ! Lets see under the lid, or is it bashful ? Can't go wrong w/Suprasales for basher buggy tires either. |
First day I had it (couple days ago)...everything but rx lid on :D
http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000597.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000598.jpg |
Looks great, now go get it DIRTY !
|
Haha...i'll try :P
Although right after I clean up my kits until they look like new..don't know why...but its a habit :P |
Sounds like good habit.
|
Wondering...for the shocks, I was going to go with what Fizz tried on his thread..but they are a bit to expensive for me..Any 1/8 shocks that are a little cheaper? Maybe 8ight shocks?
|
I looked.. and LOsi 8ight shocks can be had cheaper.. but I didnt have to buy my fronts, they were givin to me, I just had to identify them, and find rears.. so I am into the whole set for 45.00
you COULD find 8ight shocks, if you are diligent and patient, you can get them on teh bay for a good price.. i'll start looking for a online store with a fair price for ya, once i get part numbers.. |
Haha..thanks fizz! I'm in no rush.. :P
Although If i have to pay more for a better product..I will..It'll just take longer. |
Any kind/brand of BB shocks are gonna cost at least $75.00 for the set, even on Fleabay.
|
Arvint,
looks great, man! one thing...you might wanna stiffen up the center diff. 10K in the center with that setup imo is very loose for anything but very hard packed dirt. my basher has 50K in it and sometimes i can still see the front unloading. it'll also make the buggy alot faster. |
I'll be sure to pick some 50k up! :D
|
Oh yeah, this is the wish list:
Ofna aluminum rear arm pin holder Xtreme racing CF steering brace Xtreme rc CF center diff brace PCR Front shock tower OR xtreme rc CF towers PCR rear shock tower PCR steering plate PCR front upper arm plate Wheels: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Spoke-Wheels-4 Tires: XTM racing sandrail stock tires (they seem like a direct copy of the geolanders, which I LOVED in 1/10th stadium trucks.. Wondering...On this buggy, should I be scared of using xtreme rc CF? As I want to lighten it..but not decrease the durability.. |
anyone know? Should I stray away from CF shock towers? Stray away from CF center brace? Front steering plate? etc...Or should I stick to alum.? Got some cash influx, but i think Im going to get some shocks first..
|
anything carbon fiber should be avoided on an 1/8 buggy imo.
|
I see. Due to strength issues I assume? Guess ill get shocks first :D and a body..

Looks nice arvint. what happend to your grp tires.
|
Those are in a special corner for when I go to back to 6s :P
|
oh yes, the magic tires, vxlrocket says they never wear out. I hope to get a set some day. Hope they come back out on spoked wheels, those look cool.
I am looking for an used 8-E 2.0 roller, got more time than $, just going to wait it out untill a low bid wins on ebay someday, could take 6 months. |
Quote:
most of the used 8ight rollers i have come across need new chassis' and drivetrains at the very least. these are the ones i'm considering selling: the 1.0 http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...llertcr016.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...llertcr014.jpg the 2.0 http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lerebay019.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...lerebay007.jpg all the parts are interchangeable. sure you wanna wait 6 months?  |
Is that you vxlrocket? Feels like Star Wars IV when Obi-Wan Kenobi is speaking via the Force. Also, Arvint is sorta like Luke Skywalker.
Thanks for the good info about ebay. I may have to re-think this. Thanks for email on traxxas forum. I'll get back with you. |
^^Yup....thats rocket :P

Ebay
It has been quite a while since I have gone on to Ebay, but the best way to win anything on there is this. If you find something you truly want to win, then decide first how much you would be willing to pay for the item in question up front. Once you make that decision, then keep an eye on the auction right up to the last minute. If the auction is still within your bidding range, then begin typing in your bidding info, and when it reaches the last few seconds of the bidding war hit enter with your highest considered bid. The final outcome will show itself instantly.
A couple of years back I saw a young man place his UE collection into a LOT type of auction, and I used this theory placing a bid of $800 on it in the last few seconds of the auction. The highest bid up to that moment was $324. So any bids at the last minutes were going to be $10 here and $10 there, but my bid was to high for them to win. I ended up with about $1500 worth of UE gear for like $714. Well worth the total I was willing to bid up front, but if you show your hand too quickly you will lose your bid. You have to wait until the final seconds of the auction to win though. Good luck with that. |
Arvint, what have you been upto?
|
Nothing much..Finally have some money..haha ;D
Looking for some 1/8th shocks under $100 shipped atm. |
Update! Spilled $100 on the new D8 big bore shocks...tried to take some action shots today..but for some reason they where all blurry or bad.. :(
http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000788.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000787.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000774.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000772.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000769.jpg |
Forgot to post some pics of the new shocks and the PCR front steering plate:
http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000791.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000792.jpg http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/P1000793.jpg Now...I want to get this thing as race ready as possible..The other day I was at the track, and someone with a rc8e said why did you get that cheap thing...so we where practicing...and I felt brave and took him on..And i was actually keeping up..I could see him saying...oh wow..and stuff..although I had stock tires and i lost traction pretty easily.. Soo..I'm wondering..is the rear pivot suspension kit worth it? Does it actually make a difference? |
Hey! Long time no post... :P
Still running great, but it's time for a new body, and just wondering, Which proline bodies fit onto this? Does the mbx 5 fit, or the mbx6? |
i think all of the ultra buggy bodies fit but i'm not sure about the mbx lids. check the thread on the ultra lx-1 on rc-tech...they started a list there if memory serves me correctly.
|
Thanks :)
Got some racing tires for it..well kind of (Supra sales caliber knock offs), and some diff tuning, and MAN, is it dialed. For the first time I could drive it easily around the track. Was easily keeping up with a bud's rc8be on same number of cells. Was really surprised..Just one thing, is it just me, or is their a problem in the motor mount? As after a couple hours ar the track, everytime i go to the track, the motor moves and i have to readjust it (I make sure the two scews holding the motor are tight). |
Quote:
i tried 5 different brands of various strength and this is the only thing that would keep the motor secure. it says it's permanent threadlocker, but if you use a hairdryer with heat or a heat gun you can loosen it again after directing it at the motor for just a few seconds. it drove me NUTS until i found that stuff. |
Ah..thanks! I will try that :P
Other then that..I really love this..sooooo surprised how well it could do at the track.. |
Quote:
the owner of my track drives a 10 year old mugen and still runs circles around the latest and greatest buggies.:rofl: glad to hear from you Arvint, you ought to check in more. |
Yeah..I should...lately got busy again with my two 2wd slash's..Emaxx has been getting some love too :P Ofna hasnt really broken yet..and I dont see it needing anything..so yeah :P Either way..90% of my income is on the slash, the rest is split with the maxx and the ofna :P
Oh yeah..and a new savage X..been fun..my first nitro and all...so its fun :P |
Man..these motor mount screws are annoying! Red thread locked the bottom motor screw and the top one came loose..so this time they are both red-ed..hopefully thats that. And the body mounts keept coming loose..but some longer screws now seem to have a tighter hold :D
Time to get a new body.... REALLY happy with this setup I have...Some people at the track out with there VE8's and eco's where surprised that it was a lx1e as I was right on them and passing in cases (If only my driving was better.. :P) Wierdly..durability seems to be the problem for me now and track ability is great! |
