My $27 Et-Maxx !
I got my New $5 Water Proof XL5 yesterday
and got the $10 rims Yesterday and NO More Hotglue!!!!!!!!!!!! All the electrinics i had on here before are New and Now sit in the Reciver box like the Headlight and taillight connector and the Motor thermal sensor controle board what you see on the Motor is the thermal sensor for the motor fan the High speed High output fan starts to spin up @ 100F http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/ntm1.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/ntm2.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/ntm0.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/ntm3.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/motor.jpg :great: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z1V-9TvFUPk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z1V-9TvFUPk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KbFuTiZxF5E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KbFuTiZxF5E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-oP0bskP7tM?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-oP0bskP7tM?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> And who sed that a T-maxx with a SINGLE titan 550 Cant be fun ? |
this is my first setups lol
and started out here I got this truck free from a good friend and I DONT like Nitro but i do like the truck ALOT so i am maken a few changes to it .... i took the old motor mount out of my now dead Mad truck and used a traxxas 550 12T motor and re adjusted the STOCK transmissition for a faster shift to second gear. i will use 2 12T 550 motors on it as soon as i can get all the parts and the 2 xl5 ESC's and the t-maxx has all RPM upgraded parts on it . as it is in these pictures it looks like $#^! but its just in the first phase of the rebuild the "Test Mode" http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t2.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t3.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t4.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t5.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t6.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t7.JPG this is how the body was when i got it http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/t8.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/old.JPG then i Repainted the body and rims  http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/new.JPG |
http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/rims.JPG
i added some lights <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nXhlT9O7Ds0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nXhlT9O7Ds0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> I Need MORE light! i think its time to add the lights to the rollbar Think ill add 9 more thats 3 in eatch then backup lights and Brake lights. These are NOT JAP , Radioshack or Ebay led's the Led's are out of $300 mine helmet lights output 5 watt eatch that is equal to a 15 watt halogen eatch. so that would be like a total 90watts of pure white light i still need to do the roll bar lights that will be 3 in eatch housing for 45watt or equal to a 135 watt halogen total or 225watt TOTAL truck lighting wattage . nite running is AWSOME!!!!! then the change into this http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/mt.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/mtt.JPG my Home made motor mount http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/mm.JPG the motor mount and a battery box http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/bbox1.JPG this was after a GOOD test run http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/dirt2.JPG |
then i did my steering mod
Traxxas Steering SUX !!!! i did a mod to my steering so i dont need to buy a 40+ dollar servo just to steer the thing. cause my steering servo went for a meltdown bigtime. Now i can use a cheeper high speed metal gear servo. on all the traxxas rc's that i have had the steering was poor and why it is this way because of the leverage is WAY to low . all you need to do is to extend the leverage and you will not need 50lbs of force to steer with. and with ALOT less stress on the servo. now it turns ALOT sharper than with the old 208g servo and the speed is fine. now i can over steer and flip the truck over verry easy ...... my steering mod here : <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/N9XZG7zTAmI?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/N9XZG7zTAmI?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/h1.JPG the extention i put on the servo will flex as it is NOT HARD plastic! Acting as a "servosaver" thats why it was not made of steel. http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/flex.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/h2.JPG http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/extend.JPG This is the Same servo i use and now have 3 of them Completely Waterproof now . http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/funmaxtoys/servo_metal.jpg and thay are SWEET!!!!!!!!!! this was AFTER Mud Bashen with my basher body on it
i went over in the back parkinglot were i can powerslide alot well the parkinglot is of like a clay and stone mixture . so there was some large STICKY slop holes in it today well i powerslid into one by mistake at full speed side ways and with 1 tire and i caut a stone that was in it and fliped up in the air about 6 or 7 foot and landed upside down in a NOTHER DAM# Slop hole GRRRR i wish i was recording then it was AWSOME!!!!!!!!! i think my bashing body needs to retire now http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/f2.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/f3.jpg http://www.frontiernet.net/~radioman193193/f4.jpg |
Note !!!
yes i built this truck yes to show just what can be done. but to show you Dont need to spend Mega dollars to do it like most would have you think you would need to invest to do it. like like a $250+ brushless system a new $45+ tranny motor mounts that dont work on a T-maxx tranny. $160+ set of shocks $120 set of tires $150 set of rims like i was told Over and Over a single 550 motor would NEVER work in this truck. and 7.2v Ni-MH would not "cut it" well i dont like to be told "you cant" do something so i Did it. and it works Quite fine. and im proud of what i can and did do with NO money well i now have about $40 invested in it now and by all the Short videos i have posted you can see thay were verry wrong. its to show you can have fun with VERRY little or No money. PS and i in NO WAY think or Feel that this truck is better or is the best truck on line. |
Note:
its slow.... /note |
Pfft
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z1V-9TvFUPk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z1V-9TvFUPk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> lets see you do better with a SINGLE 550 motor on 7.2v Aint going to happen! and for the Offroad things I do Speed is a WAST. |
waste.... its spelled waste...
could i do better with a single 550 motor? no... i'll leave it in my drill thank you :) works fine... yes... works well? hmmm... matter of opinion... will never be going back to brushed... or nimh... but its a nice start... kinda like a nikko i had... slow and goes everywhere... you did get it for a good price... but thats just lucky and you having nice... its nothing more, not amazing... nor truly budget... as you probably have a truck worth nearly $500 in new kit... its just spoiled by some rubbish electronics... when you fry your first few motors and esc's... because they are so overloaded and will fry... i'm quite surprised they have lasted this long... don't come crying to me :) you will look back at this thread after you have kitted this nice truck out with a sweet brushless setup and realize how wrong you were... Your having fun and thats all that really matters... just saying it would be batter, and last longer with a brushless setup... but at least its not nitro... so theres a start :) |
ummmm................
lol Ok LOL you cant do the things i do or go were i go with brushless. Without Big problems Quick. like this was just a test with a bad slipper clutch. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xHwCv4_Lvmw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xHwCv4_Lvmw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KbFuTiZxF5E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KbFuTiZxF5E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yPXgURBtfMo?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yPXgURBtfMo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6q437XaTuO0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6q437XaTuO0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
I will give you one bit of constructive advice. I am on a very fast T1 connection and there is so much crap in this thread (pics and vids) that it's a pain to load. Get rid of some of it because no one will want to mess with it when the thread loads like this.
I do not know what you are trying to prove coming to a brushless site and posting this, there is nothing innovative going on with what you did. You come across as a Traxxas newb trying to prove up the brushless guys. The notch you cut in the chassis braces is going to break, I can guarantee, those take a lot of stress at that point. Secondly flexing of you cross member will end up causing more problems than it will help. Servo savers are cheap, why not just install one and have a metal arm to eliminate unwanted flex in the steering. Lastly the XL5 ESC has a hard enough time in bandits and stampedes, it definitely will not last in a maxx truck. The motor will burn up too, ask anyone (such as myself) who has ever run a maxx on a single 550 motor. As was also stated you don't with everything you have on it really have a 27 dollar truck. Cost new all the parts you have add up unless someone just gave the truck to you. However, it still cost someone money. This is really no different than stuffing a 4 cylinder engine inside an F350 and going on pirate 4x4 and claiming how cool you are. |
my page load time is only 3 seconds for this page
on my little 6 megabit DSL and the RPM parts were on it all i added was a ESC and a 550 moter and a homemade motor mount so i have a TOTAL of $40 invested in it. and the brushed motor was the BEST way to go as the truck is in water 99.5% of the time. and this motor has been in the truck for over 3 months now with Beating it everyday . i use it for about 5 to 6 hours a day MOST every day. and last time i took the endbell off the motor the brushes are about 90% . thats after all this this thing has been doing so i feel that when the motor is " Toast " its no big deal to get amother one for $14.95 for another 6 months or more Hard beating. and i don't think this is just a " brushless site " as you saythis is in the General Discussion part of the forum. and BTW im NOT " NEW " by far. LOL just new on this forum. you might need to check your speed to see if your isp aint jacken ya. http://www.bandwidthplace.com/ http://speedtest.net/ |
It looks like it does what you want it to do - nice job.
|
Thank you.
and for the "others " I was not telling nobody that thay shuld or should not do this. it was just to show with LITTLE money and a junk truck you can have fun on the cheap. its NOT about brushed or brushless or spending $10 or $2500. |
I think you should splurge on a new slipper clutch though. :mdr:
|
Quote:
oh i got a New one 3 of them just to have them on hand. :mdr: 3 66 tooth spur's and new friction pegs. she Don't slip now :intello: |
Can anyone say stone axe :neutral::sleep: Huh..Oh..Butt hay whatever floats your boat, or in this case "Truck"???
|
why if it dont have a 427 hemi or a 199199.99999 KV system you people need to rant and rave about it?
or is it you cant read? i will repete myself for the ones that cant Understand........... yes i built this truck yes to show just what can be done. but to show you Dont need to spend Mega dollars to do it like most would have you think you would need to invest to do it. like like a $250+ brushless system a new $45+ tranny motor mounts that dont work on a T-maxx tranny. If you dont like it then just dont post nothen whats so hard about that? or are you playen the game of uping your post count with useless drivel ? |
If your happy with your inexpensive rig then more power to ya, nothing wrong with saving a few pennys if you dont have high expectations like do wheelys at 45mph.
OBTW, you can stop yelling. We all can read the smaller letters just fine. |
This is RC-Monster, we're all elitist snobs around here- we dont do low-end or brushed, we do top-end, bleeding edge, hyper velocity brushless
No, seriously.... Welcome to RC-Monster.com though Radioman, its a very different community to BYT & the Traxxas forums, much more knowledgeable people and a right bunch of jokers to boot. |
Quote:
no 27mph i fine for me thats more speed than i need . and i can do wheelys unfortunately i still need to set my EXP for my throttle. i cant do wheelys at half throttle. i run a 12 tooth pinion and a 66 tooth spur. not mutch for speed but some massive lowend torque. thats what i run 99% of the time then sometimes ill put the 18 tooth pinion on it for the road. |
Quote:
You found me:mdr: the Last one there in your "List" is a JOKE!!!! LOL BTW SANTA might have a gift in my stocking this year.... a new GOOD brushless system.... |
Quote:
Wanna talk about a tough crowd, go try that! Pirate4x4 will eat newb's whole for breakfast... Radioman, it is fun to take something out the attic and put a new system in it to give it new life. I recently took an old N. Rustler we had in my toy room and put a VXL system in it with a homemade mount. Fun truck to play with. But this is a tough crowd that really isn't thrill by a cheap brushed system in an old T-maxx. That just screams old and outdated to us... We tend to love excessive power, torque, and efficiency that BL provides. With that said, a VXL system on 3s geared for 30mph would probably do fine in your Tmaxx and still remain waterproof and carry the Traxxas warranty! |
Good on ya mate, not everything needs brushless. My summit I converted from an e-Revo and it cost $55 total to do, incl a Dewalt Motor (by selling off the old E-Revo bits I got some $ back)
Doesn't need to be fast, it's my basher :) |
Problem
We have no problem with your project as long as that makes you happy:neutral:. It was you who started out by appearing a bit arrogant trying to shove your low budget project down our throats with sarcasim:whistle:. What you did is great and I am sure that most of us have done that exact thing years ago when we were like 12 years old:rofl:. most of the regular crowd in here have been doing this for a few years and have moved on to more impressive BL systems, and using Lipos, because it is the new technology:yes:. What you have created is very outdated and old school:na:. If your budget is $50 then good for you on your accomplishment with this project. If you are new to R/C or in the 10 to 14 age group, then what you have done is great. If none of this is true than none of the guys in here will be impressed with what you have done, nor will they care. 99% of what is done in here is brushless. That is what this site is all about. Anyone and everyone is welcome in here, and we all have a great time sharing info, ideas, and projects with each other. Good for you on your $50- project. Hopefully you will improve with time and knowledge. Our lives are about moving forward and progressing towards efficiancy, and more power. Not taking steps backwards and/or regression. Good luck with your future efforts and enjoy your time in here learning from the people in here who are true inovators of this hobby. Most of all have fun with whatever you create and don't be so angry when someone projects constructive comments in your direction. If you don't like that, then don't post up in a public forum/sites trying to push your idea of what creative is on people who are obviously way ahead of your project. Be happy, and turn your hostility into creating more R/C projects. Good luck and have fun:party:. Don't be hatin:lol:.
|
dude... calm it
i was just saying you havent done this with a cheap truck... you just have generous friends... but if your as young as you sound, well done :) |
you can get a t-maxx roller cheap if one were to look.
its not Just an idea i dont say to to this. its just a Cheap way to start. for the one that dont have alot of money yo play with and there ready to go from nitro to electric. or have a old broke down t-maxx and would like to convert it. and for a budget Most people were not born with a golden spoon in There mouth. and just might be in a spot were thay just cant do alot more at that time . so hence this is a good way to start and still have a "Toy" to bash arround untill thay get the funds to do something thay would like to do. i dont know about most out here . but when i would make house calls and things 90% of working class people dont have the Extra $1500 or more to invest in sutch things but would be able to do things Little at a time in steps. heck most Real people just bust there butts to pay the power bill in the Real world. Hence the point You DONT need alot of Extra money to get you going in the right direction. but just because its got tires on it dont mean you NEED to add a $300 Brushless system to it. 4x4 to me is Offroad so were is the need for 60+ mph? you cant do 60+ in a mudbog kinda dumb to try to do 60+ on rock hills you dont need 60+ for precision driveing tracks for the 60+ i would do an E-revo with a $300+ brushless system in it. but i see the T-maxx and the E-maxx as what it is supose to be >A MONSTER Truck< you dont see bigfoot or gravedigger doing 60+ on the road...................... i see a Monster truck as a Offroad BEAST with lots of lowend power and rugged as heck. and with plenty of ground clearance to clear obstacles in an Offroad environment. |
The point being the over sized and bold print gives one a headache to read. That is why I didn't bother reading most of it. It was rather repetitive anyway.
What it seemed to say was "look how much smarter you are than us doing your 5.99 t-maxx conversion when we idiots spend hundreds and thousands on our trucks". As was said it is nothing impressive and to wow us on here you have got to do better than that and drop the attitude. The point about the download speeds is that not everyone is on a high speed connection and having the screen constantly jump around while downloading a thread is annoying at best. |
I dont have an attitude.
it must be in how you perceive this. I dont play games its just facts. AND im NOT calling nobody a idiot. It was just a point . Im sorry if you feel this way. and it was NOT to "WOW":surprised: nobody. as was stated in post #6 and #18 . |
Guys, everyone cut back on the caffeine pretty please - Sometimes intent cant come across in words very well...
Its fun on a budget... simple as that... |
