New Ofna Nexx8 1/8th BL-buggy

Just found this: Ofna (HongNor) Nexx8
Listed by the usual suspects for ~270$.
What do you guys think of it?
I really like the narrow layout with the 2x2S hardcase LiPos und the forward motor.
But I'm not too shure about the motor mount. Don't like the 2 piece design.
Anything Mike has to offer that could probably fit?

Last but not least: would the CC 1512-1800KV 1.5 Turn be fast enough on 4S?

Looks alright. I don't particularly like the C-hubs being made from cast metal, though, and like you said the 2-piece motor mount could be a problem when landing jumps (it is a buggy after all).

JoFreak 10.13.2010 04:03 PM

Rest assured that there will be a cnc machined option for the C-hubs that will only cost a gazillion dollars.
And then there will hopefully be parts from other companies as well:whistle:

I wonder why they didn't use the pillow ball setup like the Ultras have. I recently bought the rear pillow ball conversion for my GTP and I love the precision adjustment and complete lack of play in the joints.

jo that motor would be great on 4cell, 2000kv would be ideal

I just bought two of the 1,5y's, but I think they need 5-6s. That would be two 3s hardcase for this car. Car looks good as long as the motormount holds.

Looking at the motor mount...the front is fine but I think any motor would need some rear support.

my lhs was buzzing about this last night. i dunno about this...it looks really narrow to be all that stable and the foward motor design might make it really nose happy upon flight.

Looks like a tweaked lx to me!

alport 10.14.2010 07:02 AM

I didn't like it. It's an old chassis with lots of X1 parts. I hate e-clips too. Hongor choose to produce a cheap kit and you will get what you pay for. I'd prefer to buy a used roller of a more professional chassis or HB Ve8 for the same price or cheaper..

FG101C 10.14.2010 08:46 AM

I wish I could drive like that. Interesting looking, but yea it looks like X1 RTR parts.

Big House 10.14.2010 07:19 PM

Get a Hyper 7 roller and build it up. This looks to toyish to be hobby grade

The 1512/1.5Y on 4s is a great buggy motor! It performs really well at our track for sure!

superek4 10.15.2010 06:29 PM

I wonder will the rcm slip diff fit?

el tomaso 10.16.2010 12:06 AM

They already have a hop-up mount listed on nitrohouse.com, looks ok. Cost almost 50....

I don't know too much about buggys, so what's the issue with the X1 parts?
I only had a buggy for a very short time, it was one of those nitro-conversions most companys do for their "now brand new desgined BL-Buggy but no idea where those nitro mounting holes come from". And it was extremely out of balance with the batteries all to one side, relatively far off center.

I would guess one of Mike's Hyper or Jammin mounts would work on this?

superek4 10.29.2010 10:31 AM

I am waiting to try it. Anyone got it n compared with a x2?
