Infinite 1/5 scale 10s ESC @ 120A?

Was wondering if anyone had tried this yet? http://www.okhobby.com/product.php?id_product=1222

bigbadtaz 11.27.2010 03:23 PM

no but i think i will get something from them tho

Cody.McP 11.27.2010 06:19 PM

Looks like the Kershaw Designs motor/esc combo
Motor
and
ESC
$330 for the KD combo, $180 for the OKHobby.
It doesn't look too bad, but I'll be waiting for the Castle 5th scale.

tashpop 11.28.2010 08:41 AM

i'm about 100% sure or at least close to that, thats its the same gear. i have the 160amp esc and its working fine.

Dj_Sparky 11.28.2010 08:49 AM

How many poles do the Neu/Castle motors have? IE 1515, 1520 etc.

And yeah, it looks identical to Mr. Kershaw's stuff. If I were to buy one of them, I would definately buy from OKhobby.

thzero 11.28.2010 01:25 PM

Thats because its all rebadged Chinese made products.

The Castle and Neu 15-series motors are 4-pole. Some of the OK Hobby motors are also 4-pole. I have one of the OK Hobby 4363 (basically 1512 size in Neu/Castle spec) in my buggy right now. Works better than a 2-pole 540 L or XL size motor, but still runs hotter than a Castle or Neu.

Going to order the 1/5 scale combo and a 1/18 combo (And a Savage Conversion kit.). Hope it works well. :)

Dj_Sparky 12.16.2010 01:30 PM

I asked the OKhobby Customer Service (Who else do I ask?) how much wattage the 1/5 motors produced. The lady who replied under 4000 continous, which sounds about right, but also 4000 max? That sound a bit weird?

Dj_Sparky 01.18.2011 02:36 PM

Is this rebadged Kershaw stuff, or is it the SAME as what Kershaw is selling? There's only a somewhat minor price difference (Compared to other rebadged stuff.), as they are both pretty cheap (Relatively), so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same stuff.

Anyways, I received the 1/5 combo and 1/18 combo along with the Savage conversion kit today. Will hopefully get to try it out this weekend, will start with 6s on the 1/5.

It took the package around 5 weeks from ordering to delivery. Was in shipping for about 3-4 weeks. That's really slow IMO. I live in Norway, by the way.

What conversion did you order for the savage, the OK-hobby one or the KD 1/6-scale conversion? IMO the OK-version looks like it takes only 36mm can motors in the pics.

Are you going to try and find out if the 1/5 combo can drive a baja 5b etc. around at a decent speed? A 1/6 scale savage is so in another weight class.

Nope, just gonna see if the combo works with 10s eventually, in a random car. Don't have a 1/5 scale. Savage conversion is from OKhobby yes.

Nixpus 01.20.2011 03:40 PM

Quite curious how the 1/5th ESC works :)

As far as I can tell its the cheapest car ESC out there which will run up to 10s (if it can run it in reallity that is :)

Keep us posted!

Bmr4life 03.15.2011 10:39 AM

Any updates on the ESC? I'd like to run 8s in my Savage and the Mamba XL still needs work.

Nixpus 05.11.2011 04:02 AM

Hey DJ!

Hows the weather in Norway? Any update on this ESC? :)

Dj_Sparky 05.11.2011 05:14 AM

Nice and sunny. :P I've finally got a car to put it in now, and just need a motor mount. Will probably just do a temporary L mount bracket. Got a lot of small projects so I haven't really gotten around to it yet

Jahay 05.11.2011 08:10 AM

remember this isnt rebadged kershaw stuff...

Kershaw put their name on this existing product!

ZippyBasher 06.07.2011 02:22 AM

I just finished building a chassis for a truggy I'm planning on putting the combo in. Will try to make the motor mount later. Got some heavy duty L shaped aluminium. The truggy only has 2 gear diffs though so I hope they can take it. I'm planning on putting a 8s battery in there.

I dont know what think about this combo ............ is very cheap for the specs ........ and my experience about the cheap speed controllers is no good :P

this motor is extremely big ......¿which is the real weight of the motor?
¿is 2 or 4 pole?
¿the diameter without the heatsinks?
¿please is possible show any detailed photos of your combo?

thanks

x-y 06.10.2011 09:56 PM

¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿????????????

Dj_Sparky 06.10.2011 11:00 PM

Going to order an 8s battery on Tuesday from HK, so I hope to test it within the next week.

I believe it is 2 poles, max watts is around 4000-5000, diameter without the heatsink is 40mm. Not sure about the rest you asked me.

the difference of the 2 or 4 pole motors is big ....... the 2 pole are very easy to turn and are very soft ........ the 4 pole the oposite ..... is hard to turn the rotor and have small pulls all time when you turn .....

bigblkblazin 03.14.2012 04:32 PM

Any updates on this speed controller ? its been a while.
