Just for Freeze

Now that you have a new perspective on life and more importantly Radio Control I thought I would share this with you and everyone else.

I worked a half day today and my wife has to work a normal shift so what else is there to do in my spare time but go play. So with three charge packs I hit up my little secret track. We have no snow on the ground but it snowed and rained off and on for the past few days so I will let the pictures d the rest of the talking.

Remind me NOT to let you ever drive my trucks........:gasp:

What a dirty little truck

I'm sure it was fun.

Freezebyte 12.24.2010 06:19 PM

Lol, I love my Flux too much to trash it. I'm still tempted to buy a Slash Ultimate that I can screw around with.

You have the urge, you just need to let go and realize they are toys!

I forgot to ask Freeze, see any tape/saran wrap?

Freezebyte 12.24.2010 06:55 PM

No, but I think my Flux ESC is worth more then that buggy, so its a perspective kinda thing.

Someday you'll come to understand Freeze.

Understatement of the day!

I am proud to say that even with almost 6-10 pounds of crud built up on the thing the Castle SCT system and 1410 motor had no problem pulling it around. This thing is uber fun with this system in it. Mud and puddles didn't seem to bother it either.

Somehow I doubt it. I have a mate that is just like that. He spend half his time spit polishing his MT and then slowly driving it up and down the street. I on the other hand beat the absolute hell out of mine. First thin I do when I get back from a bash session is remove the elecs and hose my trucks/buggies with pressure cleaner. LOL Last time we went out for a bash session he thought that the track was too dirty and left his car in the trunk. Just sat there and watched me turn my Revo into a ball of mud.

reno911 12.24.2010 11:05 PM

Same here. Got home took off the wheels and electronics than hosed it down. Air hosed it and threw some WD40 on it and it is ready for tomorrow where I plan on doing some lovely Christmas bashing!!!

TexasSP 12.25.2010 01:59 AM

I think freeze is too much like Cameron's dad in Ferris Bueller to ever understand.

Yep, i've been this way since I was born and will probably die with the same attitude. I don't expect you to understand.

Nah, we understand dude. Variety is the dspice of life. I cannot say anything, I only get my waterproof scale trucks nasty, then run them 2 feet deep in clear water to "clean" them off. Would never dream of getting any of my big trucks that nasty, way to difficult to clean. Now getting them dusty is another thing entirely.

josh9mille 12.25.2010 02:43 AM

I just wait till all the mud is dry and then i drop it on the ground a few times to break off the big chunks, then i take a screw driver and scrap most of the remaing chunks off. Then i put it away for next time. Usually next time i run my trucks the little remaining crusty mud falls off.

Not a matter of understanding, just observation. My dad and uncle are the same way. Me, I am some where in between. It's called being anal. For clarification to linc and harold that's not the same as you two doing anal.

I just jack with you freeze because I like you, if I didn't I would just ignore you.

thzero 12.25.2010 12:23 PM

Nothing wrong with a good mudding! Nice shots reno.

E-Revonut 12.25.2010 12:54 PM

best way to clean a dirty truck is to run it in the snow! Blah, Blah, Blah, everybody worries about their precious electronics. I've never had a MMM go dad during or after running in snow, even if I didn't coat it in liquid tape. Only servos that I've ever had die on me where crappy traxxas ones, and I've never had a rx go bad period. I'm not a fan of mud as it makes everything the truck touches afterwords a nasty mess. I've raced in some pretty muddy conditions and immedietly stripped the truck to hose it off with water and air.

I hate cleaning my rides after a dirty session but love getting them dirty. I think I understand both sides.

I build to exact specs in my head(very pretty bling bling specs) then I go out and destroy them.

Just take lots of pics after the building and before the destroying, then you can have fun bashing and reminisce with the pics.

DwightSchrute 12.25.2010 05:36 PM

this was just covered in snow. it's still melting a little bit....normally, i just let my shit dry and brush it off with a paint brush...then i'll shake all the twigs and crap out of it and it'll be ready for the next session. For me, it's not as much fun if i can't get it covered in mud, dirt, leaves and snow. i didn't spend $650 just to look at it.:whistle:

I have some muddy pics of my slash at home.....don't post them as much as I should :D

simplechamp 12.25.2010 06:01 PM

I have to admit I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to getting my stuff muddy and filthy. Not so much that I worry about it hurting anything, but it's just a PITA to clean up afterward.

The way I see it, I'm the one who shells out the cash for it, so I'm going to run it how I want. And to be honest, I get more enjoyment from building and working on my vehicles than I do actually driving them, but I hate cleaning them. Probably doesn't make sense to many, but everyone is different.

I completely understand. The build is most of the draw for me. Choosing certain components from certain manufacturers and seeing it all work out and come together at the end.... aw hell, i'm getting teary eyed:cry:

Right there with you, I much prefer the build process. I hardly ever run an rc, but always have a dozen builds going.

Bondonutz 12.26.2010 01:47 PM

Same for me also, Building and tinkering is my biggest draw to this hobby for myself.
I dont bash near as much as I used to, I'm more geared for the track now and cleanup is usaually pretty easy with 120PSI. When I do bash, I steer clear of standing water and mud. We have a lot of limestone hear and when it's wet it's like concrete when it dries !

reno911 12.26.2010 04:38 PM

I love the build, this Slash is years of broken parts and modifications. Making it one of the few in my fleet that has very few stock components. I love bashing as well as racing. I find it difficult to see those here that build these machines and never use them regularly. I am not saying you need to do as I do but just play with them at least.

I break and replace all the time, as well as clean. That in my eyes is also part of the fun. Especially since I can just grab a hose spray it clean, air dry it and throw some wd40 on her and she is ready to go again. Those that I have waterproofed, like my E-Raze, I simply hose down the whole thing without worry of the electronics and go from there. This little guy still needs some protection for the Castle ESC, but once I figure something out for that guy it is game on. I have to thank the Extreme Chassis though. If it wasn't designed the way it was I would have a lot more cleaning to do.

Bondonutz 12.26.2010 05:00 PM

I'm not exactly afraid to get mine wet, I would just rather not do it like this ever again;

The only casulty was I lost 1 cell in the 6s pack, reconfigured it to a 5s all is well.

freeze,i think your the only one here that hasn't completely trashed an rc before,i just replaced the throttle servo on my baja after running in the snow and frying it. i'm out 150 bucks but it was still fun as hell!--josh

Amen, this is probably he 4th or 5th power system this Slash has seen. The car itself lives on though. The fun factor is extremely high!

DwightSchrute 12.28.2010 09:43 PM

hey Reno,

i don't mean to hijack your thread, but i just thought i'd add to your beautiful mud carnage.

i hit the track today...what wasn't snow covered, was mud.

Wow! See for me I just can't justify the amount of work cleaning that thing for the amount of fun I would get out of it. But to each their own.

it really only took me about 25 minutes to clean. i hosed it off, dried it with a compressor and sprayed it down with WD-40. tomorrow is round 2.

Most of the time they are easier to clean when the mud dries out. Take a toothbrush sized bristle brush, a small screwdriver and an air compressor and spend like 5 minutes getting the big stuff off. You are not eating off of it, right? good, well then its fine if it still a little dirty

simplechamp 12.28.2010 11:28 PM

Well I'm glad you guys have fun in the mud, wish I could bring myself to do it, but I know I will be miserable cleaning it up afterward. I have plenty of fun places to bash that are dry, and that's fine for me!

No this is no hijacking this is simply an addition to the demonstration of how these toys can be used when willing.

Awesome bash session I assume!

Makes me miss my E-Revo a bit.

Nice Freeagent. I am getting excited this is the current conditions outside my office. It only started a few moments ago. Looks like I am going to get some bashing in the snow here shortly.

tedo that is a pretty bitchin 4x4 pede, makes me want to go and trade something for one.

No snow ashing for me last night it took almost an hour to get home on a normal 10-15 minute drive. But with all this weather hitting both sides of the states feel free to post up your snow/mud/etc pics everyone.
