Automotive Gurus......I NEED your help!
Well, last Saturday I got hit by a vehicle while riding my moped on the way home from work. It came up from behind me and tried to pass me with minimal effort. As a result, I got wacked by the mirror (and brushed by that car) causing me to go flopping down the road. The idiot left me there lying in the middle of the road unable to walk (with traffic) since I landed on my knee at 35mph to 40mph. :diablo:
Long story short, I'm fine and the moped is fine (it fell on me haha), but I want to find the idiot who hit me. I know it is a very local vehicle, it could only be from three different neighborhoods. Problem is, I can not identify the mirror that the car left behind. I have called the dealerships, and looked on google extensively. Surely somebody here will recognize these photos! I could only find one part number on the pieces. They are 4107-15136-01 and 4105-15136-01 THANKS!!!! http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5443.jpg Kinda big..... http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5441.jpg http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5433.jpg http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5436.jpg http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5437.jpg http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/IMG_5438.jpg (inside support piece) |
Can't help you much on ID'ing the vehicle based on those parts, but I do hope you reported the accident to the police as a hit and run?
|
That sucks
Dude that really sucks. So you did not get even a glance at this vehicle? Second did you call for a police investigation for hit & run? That mirror looks like one from a small sports car like a Toyota MR2 or similar. Your best bet would be to visit a large salvage yard where they strip vehicles and sell off all the parts. The lifers that work there are very good at identifying parts like that. Let us know how that works out for you.
|
You might also try contacting the parts department at various model dealerships and see if they show a listing for that part number (4107-15136-01)

I did try calling the part departments.....but that number seems to be useless. I'll give the scrap yard idea a shot......THANKS! |

What is that part number on the end of the support piece?
Not the mirror number. 4107-15136-01 There's another one. Take a look. |
The PA + 30GF? That's the Nylon number
|
Oops! Forgot one! 4105-15136-01
the other number is for a glass reinforced nylon. |
I so want to say that it came from a small suv like a Rav4 or similar.
|
im pretty sure its a toyata mirror, most likely off of a scion tc, xa or xb
|
It's from an 08 Mustang. Look at the date stamp.

mamba- I hope you find this guy and he gets charged... at the very least:whistle: If I was local I would offer up some vigilante justice.:diablo: The cops should be able to check all '08 mustangs in your area quite easily. Act quickly before he gets it repaired. Also, give all the local body shops a heads up to look for '08 mustangs that need a mirror replaced. Good luck man, I hope you get the bat rastard. |
+Rep for JailBird, that's some good work there dude.
I'd lay of the vigilante justice really as it will be obvious who was dishing it out- just pass the info along to the police as quickly as possible and make sure they act on it. |
This is why I love this Forum. Way to go jailbird. I really hope they catch that SOB:whip: Keep us informed!!!!!

Great job rcm forum group
That is pretty cool how this forum works when there is a problem to be resolved. You know if there is one place where you can find at least one person who has some kind of knowledge on anything that this is a great place to dig in. So a red 2008 Mustang with a missing passenger side mirror. That should not be too awfully hard to track down. Like stated I would provide this information to the Cops straight away so they can get going on it. Then if you know some of the body repair shops in your area contact them and explain the situation so they can keep an eye out. Plus be very attentive in noticing red Mustangs driving about in your area. I bet you may just see this A$$hole again, and you can follow them to home or work and report it. Hit & Run carries some pretty heavy penalties in most states. Especially considering the nature of this incident where he just left you laying on the side of the road. Good luck with catching this idiot.

Thanks so much guys! After I get home today, I will be calling the cops and any nearby shops. I have been on the lookout for the 'stang. There are only but so many in my area. I have been living in the same place for 15 years now. I know where several mustangs reside.
Side note: Although I "thought" I saw a red mustang, I'm not ruling out any other colors. After all, I only saw it for a very small split second. Somewhere between me flopping off of my left knee to where I began flopping and sliding to my right thigh. :whip: |
Good work! I hope you get justice man! Terrible how in-compassionate some people are...
|
call scrap yards and check CL see if any one is looking for it
|
Seeing as it says made in taiwan it means its an aftermarket replacement mirror. Im thinking its not the first time he has knocked tbe mirror off his car
