Looking For A Top Of The Line Charger!!
Title says it all, im looking for a good charger, Ive used a HK charger for ever thew 150WATT 8S version and im looking for the latest and greatest in a real name brand. Im building a 8S car and at 150WATT ill only be able to charge at 1C which kinda sucks. I also see my self later down the line needing a more heavy duty charger as id like to get into heli's but brushless ofcrouse.
I know hyperion is a great charger, i dual set up would be sweet ive looked at this one. http://www.maxamps.com/EOS0720i-DUO3.htm is there something better bang for you buck from another brand i might have not noticed?!!? or anyone else selling the hyperion brand as i refuse to give maxamp's a penny of my money. |
Mike sells hyperion chargers ;)
http://www.rc-monster.com/chargers.php I can't help much more than this, but I know others with more knowledge than I will be here soon. |
See!!! i didn't know that!! that's a guy ill support!!! Thanks for the link!!! If i do end up going that route i hope mike will have it in stock by then!

I have the very charger you linked to and I love it.. I've had a long list of different chargers and I like the Hyperion line more than the others due to great performance and consistent updates and feature enhancements.
|
Love the Hyperion line of chargers, very reliable and great quality. Prices aren't too bad either.

I use the badass FMA Powerlab 8. If you like messing around with settings and tweaks, its the charger for you. If not, support Mike.

Wish my Hyperion could mow my law... :) |
I haven't used any of the chargers previously mentioned in this thread, but.............
Not too long ago, I purchased the Icharger 306B It will charge 6S at up to 30 amps, if you can find a power supply that will support that. Loaded with features, including high rate discharging. So far, I love it. |
I love my Powerlab 8. Its built very well with lots of features and I havent had any problems.
|
My powerlab 8 makes me balance charge anything over 2s, Errr BS! I hope the cpu interface has options to change that.
I charge 12s unbalanced on my Hyperion, it lets me do stupid things. I still prefer it for it's "just zap it up" attitude. |

Dude my cheapo turnigy charger will do over 9000 packs in parallel.
Yea. That. Lulz, on a more serious note, I'll look up that 306B, I was thinking i208. I just want a zillion amps at 6s, preferably on a 12 volt supply. |

I suppose a guy like you that has 9000 packs will need 9000 of these: http://www.usastore.revolectrix.com/...rallel-Adapter |
feistyacorn or Snellemin: I would like a high power 3s(and up) Non-balanced lipo profile that uses the banana plugs only. Can that happen with the Powerlab 8?
(4 tiny)3s packs for 12s. I just ordered a para board for the smart ass Powerlab 8 to be happy. |

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...y/2e23c232.jpg I've only made up 4 traxxas adapters so far.... but after I find a charger with more amps, I could see charging 6x 3s in parallel. Quote:

I'm about over it now but wish I knew that before I bought it.
I ordered the software/usb stuff for the PL8 months ago but it got lost in the mail apparently. Thanks for your help let me know what you find out. |

That's a sad and disappointing way to sell balance boards. I couldn't get the PL8 to discharge a slightly over charged lipo (even with the cell taps hooked up). My Hyperion wouldn't do it either though for that matter. I had to go to an A123 discharge mode on the Hyperion. Is 4.31v per cell bad?
Thanks for the link. I'll give it a try. |
Perhaps I could interest you in a hacked up heat sink with a resistor glued to it?
|
^No thanks, I'll pass.
