Gorillamaxx G2 Carbon Fiber

Figured I should post a few pics of my G2. It is still a work in progress. Still needs a front Gmaxx skid and few other small parts. It includes:
G2 Carbon Chassis
Gmaxx arms and towers
Gmaxx motor mount
Gmaxx rear skid
GA 6061 bulks and braces
Proline Powerstrokes
UE spyder 6's
UE shafts all around
Custom?? steel gears throughout the 2 speed trans (no one can tell me who made them)
Aluminum wheels
2 Proline Mulchers:oops:
Proline servo saver

Looking pretty awesome- do you have any pictures of the steel gears?

Chances are they'd either be the real/official UltraMaxxed Ti gears set (maybe with the brass or bronze idler gear ), but if they are actually steel ( easy to test with a magnet ) then they are a copy which appeared on ebay some years back and promptly vanished again soon after. Anything is preferable to the plastic gears though

I had the GorillaMaxx motor mount too at one point, but I found it flexed too much even with the motor mounted low / to one side- really needed to be more like 5mm thick instead of 3mm...

Blazerss 02.21.2012 08:08 PM

Thanks for the info suicideneil. I will post pics of the gears in a few minutes. I've seen ultramaxxed gears but these look different than all of those that I have seen. I took the pics when I first got the trans and had no idea what I was doing. It was actually the first emaxx trans I had ever owned. If need be I can open it back up for better pics and a little more expect ion on my end.

Your right about the motor mount. If you look closely you can tell that one is tweaked also. I have 2 more now that I could install, but that one looks best appearance wise. I'm planning on cutting a few gmaxx stand alone mounts myself that will be thicker. Actually hoping to get them drawn up this weekend, and maybe cutting within the next few weeks. I have a few parts I'm currently drawing up.

Blazerss 02.21.2012 08:37 PM

Here are pics. The idleer gears are dark, which leads me to believe they are ue. All the ultramaxxed I have seen are a light gold color. The other gears all have a light gold look to them. I've never seen any This color. Also notice in the second picture how the two slotted half moon sections don't go all the way through the gear. All the ultramaxxed I have seen go all the way through. Onto the pics

magman 02.21.2012 09:05 PM

Sexy looking for sure.

suicideneil 02.22.2012 10:54 AM

Hmm. The idlers do look like UE items for sure, but the other gears do appear to be the clones ( the finish n them is a little rough, compared to the finish you see if you do a google image search for 'ultraxxed gears' ). Like I said though, anything is better than the stock plastic gears so I imagine those ones will hold up perfectly well to BL power

Are the little input gears on the top shaft held in place with the stock roll pins, or have they been modded ( the roll pin snaps very easily under BL power, so guys swap them for short lengths of drill bit or allen key which is hammered & glued in place )?

Sexy beast indeed...

ANGRY-ALIEN 02.22.2012 11:42 AM

Beautiful G2 build... nice to see one with all Gorilla suspension pieces ... what make axel carriers are those?

K1RC 02.22.2012 03:40 PM

SICK :mdr: Get it running!?

Blazerss 02.22.2012 08:31 PM

Thanks guys for the comments. It was a long time ago that I had the trans open and I don't remember much about it, didn't really even know what I was looking at at the time.

The carriers are just the stock traxxas ones, but I do hope to upgrade one day.

The arms and towers are brand new, so this truck is just going to be a shelf queen. I do have 2 more gmaxx chassis' though. One will be another queen, and the other will be a runner. I just have 2 hcr trucks and a predator in front of the next gmaxx builds.

suicideneil 02.23.2012 09:36 AM

Shelf queens? Negatory!

I don't like 'bashing' my Gmaxx either as it's impossible to replace most of the parts like for like, so I keep all four wheels on the ground and just enjoy driving it up & down at the local park- hard to damage anything with a 6" wheelie bar preventing wheelies too.

Shelf queens make baby jesus cry...

Blazerss 02.23.2012 11:43 PM

Haha. Not sure if you saw my ultimate basher build suicide, but I haven't even driven it once since completing it. I honestly would much rather be building something than driving it. When I get the need to drive one I usually just take out the slash.

This one will never be driven. There's no fluid in the diffs and the trans is dry as well. The arms, towers, and rear skid are brand new and I just can't risk scratching them. I do still have 2 more gmaxx chasiss' though. One will be another queen, but one will be a "runner".

Is anyone on here interested in a hardcore emaxx build? I'm going to be doing 2, but there's not a hcr section so just wondering if anyone is interested. If so I will put the whole build on here.

Klausen 02.24.2012 02:26 AM

Cool E-maxx, love those Gmaxx arms.

Anyway let's see your HCR builds, allways interesting to follow, and maybe someone can't resist buying it ;o)

aqwut 02.24.2012 10:11 PM

Me want to see weeedios.

Kcaz25 02.24.2012 10:54 PM

What? do you a HCR Mutant? Nice Gmaxx for sure! I really want a set of mulchers, but I know ill never find them. I am typing on my phone. Sorry.

Blazerss 02.25.2012 12:17 AM

I don't have a mutant maxx, but I do have 2 hcr emaxx "tub" chassis' and one short version titanium "see through" tmaxx chassis. Tmaxx will be a purple colored truck, one emaxx will be green, one emaxx will be both. Seems there is interest so I will do build threads. Just not sure what section to put them in???

Klausen 02.25.2012 01:33 AM

The Gmaxx section will be fine I guess. All us Maxx nerds visit here often anyway

Blazerss 03.11.2012 11:35 PM

Ok guys, I finally got 2 more 40 series mulchers. They are dirty as heck, so it will take me a while to get them looking new. I will try my best to get working on it though so you can see this thing sitting on rubber.

I know some of you seemed interested in my Hardcore builds so Im going to start with the Tmaxx Pro build. I suppose Im just going to post it in the general nitro section. Not much traffic there, but it seems to be the only place it will fit on this site so make sure and check it out if your interested.

Blazerss 03.16.2012 10:53 PM

Ok guys, I found another part I had been looking for, but need opinions on it. Its the Gmaxx single speed kit. I like it when its not on the truck, but it looks a little out of place IMO on the truck. It leaves a big open gap where the full 2 speed would sit. I also dont like how the shaft sticks so far out of the trans going to the front diff. It would look better with the trans mounted in the middle of the chassis braces and a short shaft coming out of the trans and then use a longer shaft to the front diff. Let me know what you guys think of it though.

PS. working on the tires this weekend : )

Kcaz25 03.17.2012 10:36 AM

Oh Most people my self included ran the tranny forward. I'll post pics in a little while.

And quite frankly with the motor back that far you'll have a poorly performing truck unless all you want is wheelies.

Blazerss 03.17.2012 08:07 PM

Yea I have seen the trans put all the way forward, only thing is Im trying to retain the Gmaxx stand alone motor mount. Truck wont be run, so doesn't really matter where the motor sits as far as trying to control wheelies.

ANGRY-ALIEN 03.17.2012 10:18 PM

:surprised: You won't be running it?? hmmm... interesting...

Kcaz25 03.17.2012 10:41 PM

Nevermind about the pics

Yea I've gotten that from a few people. It's just going to be a show truck. I have built a truck to run, but have never even ran it. For me the fun is in the building not the playing. I do have a gmaxx chassis that I'm going to build to run, but I probably won't even run it once it's built. When I get the itch to run one I just run my slash.

drw 03.18.2012 08:31 AM

Turn the trans around, mount it on forward hoiles of chassis, then mount motor so its facing esc, gears would face towards steering.

Blazerss 03.24.2012 11:09 PM

Thanks for the input drw. I really want to use the stand alone gmaxx motor mount, so moving the trans isn't an option if Im going to use it.

Ended up finding another set of new 40 series mulchers last week, so got them in today and mounted up. Also put on a set of aluminum knuckles, not sure who made them but they look like some quality pieces.

I still have a few more things I want to do to this truck before I can call it done, but once I get it all finished up I will take it outside for some better pics.

Your truck looks really nice... pity you won't be throwing it down on the ground and seeing what it can do... beautiful build though, just beautiful...

Alien

Blazerss 03.25.2012 12:34 AM

Thanks Alien for the comment. Means a lot to me when someone tells me that they appreciate what I have built especially when that person has built an amazing truck themselves. Im also planning on buying some carbon sheets for a future build and cutting my own chassis. Just looking through your thread tonight I saw those endmills for carbon. I had no idea there was such a thing, but now Im getting some.

Seems a lot of people want to see this one run, but I just cant with the parts that are on it. If they still made them I would. Not to worry though, I have a lot more builds planned and a gmaxx runner will be coming.

Blazerss 04.07.2012 01:51 PM

Well I got a few more things for the Gmaxx. Found a new front skid for it. Now I just have to change out the stand alone motor mount (this one is bent, most of them did bend I believe) and I'm thinking about changing the springs to white/gray.

Ok guys, Its been a while but I got a new body that Im thinking about putting on the Gmaxx. Do yall like the blue Raptor that has been on it in all my earlier post or the new razorback body?

I also have gotten a FLM half case for the trans, just haven't gotten it mounted up yet.

I've got $400 whenever your ready!

Blazerss 06.29.2012 06:17 AM

HAHA, your funny Justin. I will let you know when Im ready.

suicideneil 06.29.2012 12:37 PM

I'm more of a fan of the Raptor shell really, these Quad bike shells make a serious bit of hobby-grade r/c look like an oversized kids toy in my eyes, but you did a heck of a paint job on it so it looks sweet...

_paralyzed_ 06.29.2012 10:04 PM

I've always loved the quad bodies, especially with a rider, which I saw in the background of one of the pics.

I vote quad!

Blazerss 07.05.2012 09:43 PM

To some degree I see where the quad body could make a truck like this look more like something you find at walmart, but the paint really sets it off. Unfortunately I can't claim the paint job, but my wallet will. HAHA

I have the rider, but I also have 2 more clear razorback body's. I want to paint the rider up to match one of the bodys, but can't decide how to do it or for which one.

Blazerss 08.04.2012 11:57 PM

Its been a while, but I finally got around to mounting my aluminum FLM half case to the Gmaxx. I wanted to mount my strobe braces as well, but you can't use them with Gmaxx shock towers when you have the spacers on them to extend the length of the truck. I think that the truck is done now. Not too much more I could do to it except for change out the few plastic pieces that are left for aluminum. I'm going to try and take it out for some good pics one day. I don't really think any that I have taken have really done the truck justice.

Klausen 10.28.2012 01:00 AM

Any progress on your other Gmaxx builds?

Blazerss 10.28.2012 08:04 PM

Well actually I have gotten rid of my other Gmaxx chassis' except for my G1. I'm planning on doing more custom work in the future and just didn't see myself building anymore Gmaxx stuff. I only kept my G1 because of how rare I think it is with the battery trays. Here is a pic of it when I mounted my VBS to it to see how I liked the look.
