mamba max pro need info..

can i use 4s 30c 4500 or 5000mah in a mamba max pro?and do i need to use an external BEC ?last time i touch electrics i fried an esc and receiver coz i didnt know i needed a bec..thats before the mamba stuff came out..now i dont see anything on the manual about bec..do i just plug the esc to receiver and set it up?im afraid i might fry a new esc.can you please enlighten me?im a gasser and i want to run 1/8 scale sometimes but this time im goin electric.and i think i got a 10th scale esc .i thot i bought a mamba monster..so i dont know if the mamba max pro can handle rc8be?and does it also matter if how many MAH AND C RATING?i forgot already whats the important info about a battery i should check.thanks for the help!!!

You can use 4s 4500 or 5000mah 30c.

You don't need an external bec. The mamba max pro has one built in. You just plug it into the receiver and go.

The mamba max pro can handle an rc8be, just don't gear for more than 50mph.

For batteries get the largest mah and highest "c" rating you can afford and that will fit.

That said I still always prefer to add an external bec.

Not sure if I just had a sensitive spectrum rx but a mmm couldn't power a 7955tg properly without adding a glitch buster.

I am using a mmp in a Ten T with a 2650 Tekin motor and a spek receiver with no issues on 3s with no external BEC. However, many here use an external one to take a little bit more pressure off of the esc.

I just dusted off my MMP.... my MMM is at Castle, and I'm still waiting...

MMP in a ERBE, running 6s to a outrunner motor. I also added the offshore electrics cap bank to the esc. I raised the BEC to 6.5 volts, so far its been working pretty good. I've got some cogging isssues when starting from a dead stop, but if I keep momentum it'll go anywhere.

is 18t pinion good ?if in case i decide to sell the esc ?can i use the 1900kv motor on a 8th scale esc?what other esc have built in bec?

how do you raise the BEC rating?

Nearly all ESC's have a BEC... the rating is determined by how it is made... it cannot be raised (just buy ESC with higher rated BEC).

BADBOY2 03.05.2012 03:16 AM

oh ok..i had bad experience years ago for not using bec thats why i went crazy when i bought the mmp..i got it used 3times according to the guy..he was also using glitch buster..but im assuming thats for radio glitch?coz he said he uses spektrum.

thats the spare servo i got so you think its not gonna work?where does the glitch buster connects on the receiver?

bdebde 03.05.2012 03:27 AM

Yes, you may need a glitch buster with the MMP depending on servo used.

Spektrum and castle don't play nice. Castle put out a post about it. The problems are always the spektrum receiver and the solution is the glitch buster.

I need to know what spur gear you are using to suggest a pinion size. Yes you can use the motor on another esc. Every car (not plane or heli) esc I know has a built in bec.

Times have changed! I know the MMP and XL2 esc's have an adjustable bec via the castle link. I believe the MMM with the newest firmware is also adjustable? I'm not sure on the MMM, but I do know Castle can adjust the MMM's bec while at their facility. Adjustable voltage, fixed amperage.

Arct1k 03.05.2012 10:01 AM

Mmm v5 has adjustable bec with the new firmware.

V6 just needs a sensor port.

ducati777 03.05.2012 02:00 PM

Yup, my MMP can change the BEC voltage through the castle link software.

thats sold separately right?
does the glitch buster work as a BEC also?if im using futaba radio 2.4g i can still use the glitch buster?

thanks you guys for the info!

fastbaja5b 03.05.2012 09:01 PM

Any time you use a Castle Esc you should have a Glitch Buster cap in there, even if you are just using a S3003 std servo!

BADBOY2 03.06.2012 04:44 AM

so i just need to buy glitch buster then?do you need to solder it or it connects to the receiver?

Arct1k 03.06.2012 08:17 AM

If you buy the novak one it comes with everything.

does it work as bec too or just to prevent radio glitch?

Arct1k 03.07.2012 05:45 AM

A glitchbuster is just a capacitor - just helps stop voltage dipping in rx and it glitching

BADBOY2 03.07.2012 01:41 PM

thanks!i bought a rx8 instead so my worries of frying my esc ,coz i dont have bec are gone..i hope i wont need a BEC on the rx8?

suicideneil 03.07.2012 04:07 PM

You do understand that the BEC is a component built into the esc; the use of a glitch-buster capacitor or an external BEC is only required if the built-in BEC isn't man enough, or doesn't provide enough voltage for a HV servo for example. I have no issues with the MMM's built-in BEC when using a pair of 1/4 scale digital servos in my TXT-1, or a single digital servo in my GorillaMaxx; I run a glitch-buster cap on each rig as a precaution, but no issues so far..
