custom cut spool for gtp2e
 

how do i go about ordering a spool from the gtp cut down to fit the traxxas 34t spur? i tried pming but that didnt seem to work right(doesnt show i sent any) so i figured i create a topic

Traxxas only has 36T spurs. Integy is the one with the 34t spur. So you want to run a 1:1 ratio of 34 spur and 34T pinion?

im probably still gonna run a 26t pinion with a 36 or maybe even a 40tspur for now but i would like the option of gearing up later on. really i would like to just hit 100 with it before this other guy here in town doeslol

why would i wanna do that?lol im sure that would be the cheaper routelol. i would rather have a lower kv bigger motor and gear it higher. i pretty much have everything i need to hit 100mph now exept the ability to gear it higher because i really cant fit a bigger gear on it. i seen this on a few cars on youtube and i rather have this done then buy the 46t spur and the spool that he sells on here because it will have way more options. (i could use mod 1 or .8 pitch traxxas gears)

yes he said he would. i just have to order the one thats on here and put in the notes that i want the traxxas edition. of course i screwed that up because i didnt see a notes section and ordered it regular by mistakelol hopefully he or one of the admins sees this

i have a question for you to. what eagle tree system do you use? i see there are multiple versions and add ons. not sure what to get?

I'm using the eLogger V4 with with Wire Leads, 70 Volts, 150 Amps version. I also have the GPS module, one temp sensor that I barely use, brushless motor sensor,Servo Current Monitor that I have yet to use, and the Optical RPM Sensor For eLogger that I also never used.

I was going to use the optical sensor on the slipper clutch and then compare that to the motor rpm. Would make it easier to find the perfect current limiter setting.

Yea, how and where do you select to order just the traxxas spool?

You can just order an 8mm spool and select whichever spur you want but leave a note with the order when you checkout regarding the Traxxas spur gear edition. Dan and Keith - got your orders. Thanks. :)

I didn't get to enter my request for the Traxxas spool during checkout. I just submitted the an order for the Spool and front motor cover.

Any chance of you mocking up an adapter to actually run a Revo slipper instead of a spool for the GTP's and one using the Rustler slipper for the RCM CRT.5?

hahahha. I would need to get me new pair of 6S lipos to run some crazy speeds. I don't know if I have a motor that would be able to turn 34T pinion with a 34 spur in a GTP.

at some point im gonna get something like the xo1 motor and run 10slol well see. for now ill start with a 40t spur and run 6s on the 2200. maybe ill throw 10s on that see how long it lastslol

Received my spool today. A 40T spur was added and I think a 34T will fit, which I will check later.

Mike, I had ordered a front motor cover as well, but didn't receive it with my spool.

i got mine today also!! thanks mike. now she"ll either go or blow!!

Very strange tooth shape on that spur, are they both mod1?

Suppose to be. That spur was on my Rustler for a bit.

The difference in tooth shape is something I've observed on spurs and pinions from different manufacturers- the tips are more tapered sometimes, but they should run/roll against eachother just fine if you use your fingers to test, so no worries.

I think the traxxas spurs have a differant preassure angle.

Where do you see the spool in the store? I've looked and can't find it.

The Traxxas spurs Mod1, but as somenone mentioned, they are indeed a different pressure anlge. Traxxas Mod1 gears are 14 Deg. pressure angle, while everyone else uses 20 degree pressure angle. If Both gears were metal, they would very likely wear prematurely and make some noise, but plastic to metal works fine.

34/34 =200 mph with added weight and good aerodynamics

I got my great looking spur adaptor last week. Thanks Mike! I installed it on my new DM-1 instead of the gtp. It just took another flat spot on the spool shaft to line up with the pinion.

I also used it as a 36t pinion with a rcm 8mm-5mm sleeve on my XO-1's 1717.

I might get another one because they are so versatile for me.

Using it as a pinion adaptor, you sure can get some nice size pinions on there!!
