New name and color scheme again? Weird. Maybe the green color scheme and the "e" looked too much like "eco"?

Looks like there will be a Mamba Monster X sometime, but no Mamba XL X HV yet. Maybe it's just not renamed yet :)

And what the heck is the Dive X ICE HV 60? An ESC for those propeller things that pull you through the water? Cool...

Dive X is not Castle related -- we've made controllers for Dive X for years -- totally different market.

Mamba Monster X is on the cusp of release. Hoping to release to production this week.

Mamba X is further down the pipe.

Pdelcast 06.10.2015 01:25 PM

Monster X is an exciting project and a terrific product.

Adds:

Data logging, including high accuracy current measurements
Torque control through closed-loop current control
Higher current handling than Mamba Monster
Smaller footprint than Mamba Monster
Full busbar design -- lowers heat generation at very high current
Latest sub-milliohm MOSFETs and high ripple current capacitors

All in all, it will be the highest power density controller available. Really proud of the work all the engineers at Castle put into this new controller.

Pictures to come...

Pdelcast 06.10.2015 01:28 PM

Also --

Fully waterproof
Sensor harness (for those of you who like sensors!)
Aux radio input to tune parameters WHILE driving
Ultra high power (8A continuous!) BEC
Programmable BEC output voltage
Temperature controlled high RPM fan

And probably some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head...

Lizard 06.10.2015 01:44 PM

Wow, that sounds really great Patrick.

Serum 06.10.2015 01:49 PM

Sounds like a dream! 8S capable? Sensored! Are you going to produce sensored motors too?

6V and 7.4V bec selectable?

Serum:

No plans to produce our own sensored motors right now, but talking about possibly bundling with sensored motors in the future.

6S for the current version, 8S possible in future versions.

Thanks!

Serum most of the newish Castle controllers have selectable voltage to 7v.

I think the XL2 is pretty cool still, I know that it does 8s.

I am excited about this new 6s Mamba Monster X with all the new features! Sensors, logging, and adjustability on the fly. I never had a problem with the waterproofing on the MMM v3. I submerged it once on accident while it was running. I let it dry. Afterwards there was no problem. I did have the a MMMv3 that could on a hot day run into thermal shutdown. Then I got a more recent one with those "extreme" fets and it never would get over 140f. The MMM has always been an awesome product! Will this one have even better fets? I plan on ordering one.

Pictures sound good!!

All this new stuff sounds great! Can't wait to play around with data logging!

So does the aux radio input work with the airtronics radios with code aux?

emaxxnitro 06.13.2015 05:59 PM

Wooohooo!

I have been holding out for a large scale sensored offering from castle!

Sounds good can't wait! i really like the xl2 datalogging.. will be nice in a mm

Dragonfueled 06.14.2015 11:51 PM

I just sent my dead monster2 in for non warranty repair. Any chance on getting the new esc instead of the mamba monster 2 again. I'll gladly pay the difference. You should be receiving it monday

Thomas Porfert 06.15.2015 12:09 PM

We do not offer upgrades to new products for a minimum of 3 months after the release. At some point we will allow upgrades to the new X series, but it will not be offered after the initial release of the X series. Thanks!

Product is through engineering and Beta test. Honestly we are only waiting on graphics to get completed.

I'll post some details up here later today.

Thanks!

The Aux channel works as just an additional channel to the ESC. Castle link is used to determine the function of the additional channel.

For example - -the Aux channel could be used to adjust drag brake in real time.

Thanks!

Serum 06.16.2015 11:07 AM

Always the creative people who slow things down.. Just a simple 'castle creations' in green ,yellow, white or blue would have been fine.

I saw on the RCCA page, that there will be a 1/18th version as well. Will it have the same features as well? and will the third channel thing work with like flysky radio's such as the GT3?

I don't know the details about flysky's radio, but the third channel just uses standard radio interface, so if flysky's radio can drive servos with the third channel then it will work with the Monster X.

Castle Link Live has the capability to do on-the-fly changes to settings and parameters already, on the main channel (and will work with Monster 2 and Max pro too.) I don't know if flysky intends to support Castle Link Live or not.

Glad to see some news regarding Castle ESCs.

regarding the Mamba XL-X:
- Will it feature the same new feature set you described for the monster-x?
- Will it be limited to 8s as the xl2 is?
- When can we expect the release?

Can you disclose any news about a possible upcoming Mamba XL-X HV?
- Cell limit, 12s?
- possible release date?

Any plans to release a Castle 2028 motor with lower KV? Around 600kv ... would be more suitable for 10-12s and could be geared easier compared to the 800kv motor which spins at 30000 (10s) respectively 35000rpm (12s).

Unfortunately I can't give out details. Not on a product that hasn't been released to production yet.

Thanks!

appreciate the info, though i'm more of a 1/10-1/16th guy myself. I'm more interested, in the Mamba max X and the 1/18 max X esc's. One thing i'd like to know, is what is the Cell limit (lipo) on the 1/18 version. I'm looking for a 5-6 cell limit, for building high efficiency outrunner or Low KV setups in cars. I'm not a speed freak, just like long runtimes. Right now, the only option in that league for 1/16 to 1/18th, is MGM's line of esc's. Those are very expensive, been wishing for a cheaper alternative

Dr_T 06.18.2015 08:59 AM

Wow, only seeing this now. This is exciting news!

Will we get a heads-up here on release dates? :)

Yes. Release will probably be early next week. We are planning to run a special for the very first production run... so keep tuned to our web page.

So soon already, nice! :)

Slightly off-topic, but is there any chance we'll see back the 1717 motors sold from Castle again, or better: a 1721, 1724, or even a 1921, 1924 sized Castle motor? There seems to be a huge power-gap between your 1515 and the next step up 2028. Any interest in that segment or is it just too much of a niche? I know you used to have longer 15xx cans, but never got why these were discontinued.

It's very possible. We had issues with the 1717 stator design, redesigned it, were pretty happy with it, but was too expensive to build.

ruudxd 06.19.2015 05:35 AM

Arent the 1717s in the Traxxas X01 designed/build by you to?

Or do you mean that those motors where to expensive?

Lizard 06.19.2015 06:32 AM

What, there is something wrong with my XO-1 1717's? Have three of them, they all run great so far.

Alright, thanks; if you ever need test-drivers for those, you can consider me a volunteer! :D

In the quantities we were selling them, they were too expensive.

We do make the XO-1 motor, but the quantities for that motor are high enough to support manufacturing it.

We were only selling around 10-15 per month, and MOQ on anodizing the green can was 1000pcs...

crazyjr 06.19.2015 08:44 PM

Pdelcast, Whats the possibilities of making a 1/16-1/18th esc with a 6s max limit? I like building low KV, high efficiency setup's. Right now the only one making that style esc, is MGM and they are too expensive for me. I like castle for my 1/10 stuff, but wish a less expensive alternative were available for smaller scales.

For those that say, there isn't a market. I'm sure these buyers, might be interested in a better esc.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

Yes that is a 4s setup in that truck
