New Setup

Hi guys this is my first post here, I need some help with my new setup.
I want to setup a 1/5 scale baja truck for drag racing 132' using the conversion kit. Can anyone tell me what kind of amps i can expect to see on 12s using a 600kv motor? I am trying to figure out which ESC and pinion and spur gear I am gonna need, thanks.

Ok I think I am going with the MGM ESC and the Poseiden 2028-C6 motor, any opinions???

Sounds good to me!
But note that I am basing my opinion on brands, not specs since I do not know that, sorry!

Ok ordered the motor and conversion kit, now need to figure out how many amps I am gonna see. So I can order the correct ESC...
Can someone help me to figure this out or tell me how to do it?
12s packs 600kv motor 16 pinion spur 57-54, I want top speed to be 70 mph no more but; I want to get to top speed in a 132'!!! All advice is appreciated...

Biggest and baddest that you can afford

I got the MGM 25063-3 gonna be fun now, time to build!!!

MonsterMaxx 04.24.2016 11:36 AM

w/ the lerner 3080, it's good for 19hp, until you burn up the batts anyway

jcflyer 05.23.2016 05:20 PM

I got it all together now and on 12s it has stupid power!!! Need to tune it some for some racing...

jcflyer 06.05.2016 10:54 AM

Last night was the first time I was able to put the power to it, and it pretty much spun the tires the whole 132'!!! So now to tune it for traction...

jcflyer 06.06.2016 07:23 AM

I put on some bigger rear tires and they made a big difference, still spinning them alot but is going straight now!!!

pretty cool looking.

try putting a gyro on steering, it'll help a lot

jcflyer 06.09.2016 10:02 AM

Some of the guys I run with have them on their cars, I like to drive mine. I may try one in the future so far I haven't needed it.

MonsterMaxx 06.09.2016 04:36 PM

It's the perfect application for one.
They don't work so well when it's flying a lot off jumps, but on the ground you will be really surprised what a heli tail gyro will do for steering.
With you being into drag racing it could make all the difference on a run keeping that handful going straight

jcflyer 06.09.2016 04:53 PM

As I said ealier some of the guys i run with use them on their 4wd cars that go 70 mph, I prefer to drive it than use the gyro. If it gets to the point where I can't drive it I will then give it a try but, so far I have been able to dive it pretty easy. Huge rear tires help enormously in keeping it straight!!!

I thought I would update this thread. I been running my drag buggy for a year now and have tried all kinds of things. So Now I am running a 2028 800kv motor with mgm 25063 esc and 10s packs. I ran 12s for a year decided it was way too much power, tried 8s and just was a tad slower than I liked. So now I am at 10s and it seems to be perfect for 132'. Right now my gearing is 19/54 I want to try 16/54 or 16/57 can you tell me what kind of results I should see with this change???
