Nice, what's it going in?

Superbasher 06.04.2006 08:13 AM

An AE RC10T4-im having fears of it flipping out etc as its 2wd. should be fun though

Serum 06.04.2006 08:36 AM

Yeah, it should be loads of fun.

You could get this piezo gyro thingy from GWS, (about 40 dollars) to keep the frontwheels inline with your drivingdirection.

looks pretty good, but thats for drift cars? dunno if it'd work in a stadium truck on grass though.

Serum 06.04.2006 10:33 AM

Yes, it will work for sure. It is a steering assist. that thing tries to keep your car going straight in line

ahhh right i thought it was to keep it into a slide or something using opposite lock.

squeeforever 06.04.2006 07:32 PM

I saw those and was wondering if they would work for a monster truck on dirt. It looks promising but I stil can't grasp how it works exactly. Does it sense which way the car is pointing and which way its sliding and turn the wheels to compensate to try and keep it straight?

Serum 06.05.2006 04:21 AM

Yes Squee, that's what it does. It works with a Piezo ellement. you need to mount it into a certain direction on your car.

squeeforever 06.05.2006 06:06 PM

So you think it would be worth it if I was to use it when racing?

BrianG 06.05.2006 09:21 PM

According to the description, it should: http://www.hpiracing.com/index2.htm

Or, a quote:

...With offroad vehicles, the Adjustable Stability Control System helps you concentrate on driving to the next turn as it keeps the vehicle running smooth through obstacles such as rough ruts. Hitting ruts at an angle would normally pull the steering off the intended path and your late counter reactive steering input would have you “flopping all over” when you initially just wanted to go straight. With the assistance from the Adjustable Stability Control System, The steering automatically reacts and keeps you on the straight and narrow, which is the fastest line from point-A to point-B....

crazyjr 06.05.2006 10:42 PM

Cool, i need some for my trucks

BrianG 06.05.2006 10:47 PM

Yeah, me too. Although, technically, it IS cheating. ;) ;)

squeeforever 06.05.2006 10:57 PM

I'm gonna check into the GWS one. $150 is way to much.

Serum 06.06.2006 01:15 AM

It's not allowed with races Squee.

coolhandcountry 06.06.2006 08:37 AM

If it is not allowed in races why get one. Unless you want people to think you are a better driver.

Serum 06.06.2006 12:25 PM

It could help prevent your truck from crashes on speed runs or so.. Think creative Country..

squeeforever 06.06.2006 05:38 PM

I have yet to see anything in our local racetracks rulebook  Maybe they recently updated it with the release of it? I'll have to check into the rules.

coolhandcountry 06.06.2006 06:56 PM

It is only illegal if you caught. :D I not sure how it works but it seems to work. I wonder if the truck hangs a hard spot and starts to flip if it steers into it to stop it. oh boy.

boss 302 06.07.2006 07:43 PM

the owner of my lhs had one in his stampede but it did not work to well cause the servo was to slow.

with them gyros you need to have a very fast servo.

coolhandcountry 06.07.2006 08:27 PM

I wonder if it has like an amp draw rating on it. I would hate to put a big fast powerful servo and fry the thing.

boss 302 06.07.2006 09:26 PM

the one that the owner of my lhs had did have an amp draw rating on it but it wasnt a limiting factor on the stampede(his gyro was made for helicopteers and 1/5 scale cars).
