Strobe Slippers discontinued
I was just informed by Robin at UE that the strobe slipper has been discontinued......:019:
Yup, bad news, if you break one, how are you going to replace it? Are there other options besides the RR set up?
Thats exactly my question. What is the RR set up?
Robinson Racing
Worse than stock.
You could always try the MGT slipper. I think Leroy has tried them with brushless power with succes. |
Damn, im gonna buy some spare pads!
I thought leroy used the strobe with the MGT springs.
Snap your right. Doh.
The mgt slipper is better than the stocker. You can even get a 52 tooth spur gear as well with a few other varieties. I guess some one will have to come up with a new design. That sucks. I wonder if they been taking lessons from proline. :D
Is it true?

I asked about getting copies of the design to get one machined myself and she said "You would have to talk to Strobe (Dave Strobeen) about that."
Anybody know him, or how to get in touch with him? |
That would be cool, if you hear on that let me know. I know someone that does manufacturing with steel and aluminum, and he has the machine that laser cuts, drills, all that. It has like 5 or six arms that you program according to the templates you give him. he could make one as well.
Just a thought here, but maybe Mike could produce them?? Only problem when having somebody machine them for you is the pads...
I'm sure if you ask Strobe that he can give you an adress or something where you can get the material to make them pad's. Mike should be able to make those aswell.
I just contaced Dave about it, lets see what his respond is first.

I was going to buy the strobe this week to have on hand for when I buy my brushless in early August, now I'm rethinking that decision. |
I also have had no issues w/ the RRP slipper. Much better than stock. I have a strobe still sitting here new. I keep saying I will put it on when the robinson goes bad. Still waiting..............
dang what know nearly every bl person that owns bl has em and the all of a sudden stop producing them??????
It's all prolines fault!!!!!!! lol |
Will the new Stampede slipper work on the Emaxx? I see a pic in the Sept RCCA andit looks like it might?
The new slipper is off a revo. I have heard of people modding it to a emaxxtrans.
So will that new slipper that traxxas uses on the revo and maxx 3.3 work on the emaxx shaft? It looks like a better setup than before and I haven't fried mine on my tmaxx 3.3
No, it tried a Revo setup on mine and the hole was to large for the shaft. Maybe the Rustler setup will work if they didn't change the top shaft in the tranny. You could even use the Mod1 Revo spurs as well.
Looks to me like the top output shaft has changed on the new rustler to work w/ the new slipper setup.
My bet is, just hang out for a little while longer. Traxxas has just released updated versions of almost every vehicle in the last few months. All except the e-maxx. My bet is it'll be next and its probably right around the corner. I'm sure whatever the new version is, it'll have the new style slipper also, and it'll be easy to upgrade an old e-maxx tranny for the new slipper. Maybee have to change out the input shaft for a new style one. Not to change the subject ...Who wants to bet on a version of the e-maxx having a toned down Novak-HV RTR from the box within the next year. |
I think within the next year Traxxas will release some type of E-Revo. I mean, come on....Starcream pretty much invented the center diff for a Revo and now Traxxas made one...there was a guy several years back that took a T-Maxx and made it electric...they hired him and he helped design the now E-Maxx....the E-Revo will be soon...I also think that the Bandit, S-Maxx, Sportmaxx, and several others are gonna be overhauled.
So back to the thread, have we heard back on anything related to the Strobe and the possibility of getting the pads for it. I don't have a strobe yet, never got around to buying one, and now I'm wondering if I should get one.
well, strobe is better than RRP, but the RRP is better than stock imo. You can adapt the ofna spurs, so it fits a 51t mod 1 ofna spurr.
SO i recieved my RRP slipper, got it installed easy enough, now I'm just waiting for Mike to send me my new gear. I mistakenly ordered a Mod 1 gear, not realizing that it was the wrong pitch to match up with the Emaxx Spur. Being that I can interchange gears on the RRP, Is there a stock gearing setup that I can order for the RRP that will match the Mod1? I'm asking this because I havent heard anything from Mike since I placed the order (early last week), so I dont know if he'll get it to me anytime soon.
I think I've heared from Mike that he's working on a slipper system for the Maxx himself. I'm not very sure, though.
you can fit a mod 1 ofna spur on the RRP, with a bit of love and patience, you should be able to manage it.
Did you heard about the slipperential or a slipper captain? |
They have a rrp for the mgt. I don't know if they interchange or not. mgt has mod 1

No, I hadn't. But...already have the RRP, and I'm getting anxious to get this think up, running, and tested before we head to the beach on the 29th. Is Mod1 different than 32P? My guess is that they are a different profile, with the same pitch. I see that Associated has 32P also. I'm also having a machinist buddy of mine try to bore out the stock traxxas pinions to fit the Fiego. Basically, I'm at a point where I either need to find a spur to fit the Mod1 pinion, or find 48P pinions that I can get on the fiego. |
The associated monster gt is a mod 1 pitch. It is bigger teeth and metric. I think it breaks down to alike a 24 pitch.
The 32pitch is about the same a a 0.8 mod gears. |

Hmm? who didn't my friend?:dft009: |

I think I was mistaken in my earlier searches for a 48P gears, the stock emaxx gears are 32P, arent they? Hopefully we'll be able to get the stock pinions reamed to 5mm (.1969). |
Ok, ok...Seems to be a bit of confusion here. The Mod1 is like what a Revo uses. It is rather large compared to 32P. 32P is the standard for the E-Maxx...Mod1, with the larger teeth, won't have to have 66 teeth to be the same size as a 66 tooth 32P gear. Understand? You can do as Serum said and put a Ofna 51T mod1 spur on the RRP or get a 32P pinion.
I just got confirmation that Mike shipped the 32P gear to me. I'll be the first to admit, I'm really confused about the gears (and the wiring)! And to think that I studied gear design back in College......must have been before I killed all my brain cells.
I think I'm still going to try to ream out the stocker pinion gears. If I get get it down, they would be an inexpensive alternative for finding the right ratio's. Mike recommended that I start off running 15/66. When we head to the beach, its been my experience that I should probably gear down for the sand. Any thoughts on that, and or how far to be prepared to go? |
If you gear down, just go with 1 tooth at a time. But I don't think you should need to gear down. I have tried to drill out the stockers but it doesn't really work.
We dont think drilling will work very well either. So we are going to try a .125/.187 step drill, then ream it to final size, that is if I can find a #8 reamer somewhere locally. We'll chuck it up in a mill to do the work so we can keep the speed way down and keep it normal to the gear.
