Is there a 1/10 electric 4wd stadium truck?

I've got one at my house, but you won't find one in a store. :)

There should be one though, crazy that no one makes one i reckon. You can convert a nitro or truggify a 4wd 1/10 buggy,or find an HPI electric MT,maybe stampy will sell his.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 07:21 AM

cart213, what set-up do you run? how fast and how long can you run that thing?

stampy 07.27.2006 07:39 AM

ive got a rs4mt, there a 4wd elec. but there belt drive so if your going to run some real power through one it wont last to long. id say your best bet is to convert a nitro shaft drive 10th scale 4wd truck like a hpi mt2 or something like that or convert a 1/8 scale buggy

SKiTZ, I've got an Mtroniks Truck controller and a Feigao 540c-9L running on 6000mah 4s2p Emolis. I haven't run through the entire pack at once yet, but I'd guess the runtime is almost 30 minutes. I've gotten a gps reading of 59.6 with this setup, but it is a bit overgeared at 52/14 with big Masher2000 tires. It runs fine in the dirt and on the street, but it will thermal in the grass in the 100* summer sun.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 09:39 AM

can i see some pictures of how you set that up?? where did you get that battery? how many volts? I was thinking about converting a 1/10 4wd st. I wanted to use the quark monster pro. i really like the features it has. i would love to get 30 min. runs. I would rather run nimh instead of lipos. what would give me 30 min. runs, 40-45mph, with no worrys of thermaling? what gearing?

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 10:08 AM

i was thinking of getting the mamba max 7700. its only $220. thats pretty hard to beat. i could run 8 nimh cells. im just not sure if it could work.

MetalMan 07.27.2006 10:23 AM

Don't get the 7700, it just won't run efficienct enough. Get the 4600, and run 9 cells (you can run 12 but it would be too much). Or, you could get the Mamba Max ESC and run a Feigao motor like a 12s to be able to use 12 cells.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 10:27 AM

soooooo. the lower the kv, the easyer it can move the weight?

MetalMan 07.27.2006 10:29 AM

Sort of. A lower kv motor will run more efficiently with more weight than a higher kv motor can.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 10:40 AM

so the 4600 on 9 4200 cells would give me what?

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 10:50 AM

what speeds/times?

MetalMan 07.27.2006 11:05 AM

You should be able to get about ~18mins of runtime and 40-45mph.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 11:27 AM

what about a quark monster pro/ feigao 6s/8 ib4200 cells combo?

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 12:06 PM

forget about that. what about the MM5700? what would that do?

MetalMan 07.27.2006 12:54 PM

The Feigao 6s isn't a great motor, it sucks amps like crazy, especially on 8 cells. The Mamba Max 5700 system has too high of a kv IMO, it's better for lighter 4wd vehicles (like 1/10 4wd buggies and 1/10 4wd cars) and 2wd cars/buggies/trucks.

You seem to be thinking that the higher the RPM/kv the better. That isn't always the best choice. For good efficiency, it's best to keep the motor spinning at about 40,000 RPM max, and for the HPI MT2 it would be best to use a minimum of 8 cells to get there (a lower number of cells won't make it seem all that great).

JThiessen 07.27.2006 01:19 PM

This is what I'm looking at the OFNA Pirate 10 for....its a shaft drive 4x4.

SKiTZ 07.27.2006 01:21 PM

cool. i think i will start off with the MM4600 on 8 IB4200 cells. but how should i gear it with a 54T spur gear?

cart213 07.27.2006 01:51 PM

A 13t pinion should get you into the 40~45 mph range.

Here's a few threads regarding my MT2 setup that you asked about.
