Its complete
Thank you guys for all of your advice. With your help i am now running in a 1/10th scale tourer
lehner 4200 xl basic Jaco Foams Quark 125B and LiPo 4s If you would like to see pics and vid of the car just let me know how to put them up |
http://imageshack.us/ for your photos
and as for videos I don’t know do a google search and type video hosting you’ll find some are free love to see it:027: |
Yeah, that is one very fast tourer, with an XL4200!!! be sure to shoot a vid!
|
Yea that car is nice and he is runnin 4s with me but one of my batteries was mislabelled in the pack and the bridged connection is giving me 16.8 volts....
I was trying to charge my pack earlier and the charger kept cutting off sayin battery volts too low... does this mean i have to buy new LiPo's? |

its the red triton charger and it will only allow me to charge at 14.8 volts... but I am runnin 16.8 by mistakes.(packaging mislabeled) so do u think that the LVC on the Quark worked and my charger is the problem or is it the batteries them selves... is the LVC on the quark automatic?
|

you have to program the lvc on the quark. |
If you didn't program the lvc on the quark it cuts at 2.7 volts per cell.
|
So does that mean my cells went too low and i would need to purchase more or try a new charger first?

it seemed as though it might have been at 10. somethin volts and i didnt really pay attention to it because the charger kept giving me the error... do u suggest i try a new charger before purchasing new batts?
|
If the volts are to low you can try to drop a cell rating and charge them up to above the 12v mark. PUt is on 3s for the 4s cells. Then swap them to 4s to finish them off. I would charge them slow and keep an eye on them.
|
Or, charge them in NiMH mode at a low current and make sure the charging voltage doesn't get any higher than 4ish volts per cell. Once you get t0 about 4v/cell, you can switch to lipo mode. Like CHC said, you MUST keep an eye on them...
|
And keep a camcorder running to catch the action just in case.
|
so im gonna try out the Nimh thing and then when the volts get high enough change over to the LiPo and see where i can go from there thanks for the advice ill let you know what happens
|
I tried charging the batteries under the NiMh setting just to bring the voltage up and it worked but for some reason my charger wont go past .1 amps... or at the most it will get to 1 full amp
|
Hi,
if you charge at .1A probably you reach the imposted time limit on the triton, so the max charge you'll be able to put in with theese settings is 1A. Just try to remove the time limit, and try to set an higher delta peak. Ciao, Daniele |
Puttinstankonia,
Love the name man. Too funny! |
did you try the 3s setting? It will charge the batts to a 12.6 volts. Then you can swap to a higher cell that you have. That is what another person did.
|
Where did you get your batts from. My charger (hyperion) kept saying the same thing! "output voltage too low" when i tried to charge them in single packs. And it's suppose to charge at 7amps, but only would charge at 4amps. Then, when i tried to charge them in series, i got the error message "output voltage too high". I also run the quark, wondering if that has anything to do with it????
|
I tried charging at 12.6 and it said it was still too low so i took the advice of Brian G and charged them on NiMh just to get the voltage up and that worked so then i took your advice and charged at 3s and then 4s to peak and it worked fine just took forever to charge at .1-1.0 amps
Oh yea thanks for the name compliment ill have some pics up soon |
Make sure to balance them!!!
