Proline tires...Crimes or bowties

Well today i purchased some 23mm offset velo's...and some molded ofna soft (orange foams)......for the inside, and I am still tossing the tires decision around.....the new bowties look like the crimes, but have the ribs inside i beleive, while the crimes do not...any suggestions or comment on which one to get..thanks.....

squeeforever 09.21.2006 04:34 PM

I would get the MTR Bowties. Maybe next month they will release Crimefighter MTR's....

dabid 09.21.2006 04:47 PM

I love my Crime Fighters, they last a super long time and work good on a wet down blue groove track too.

neweuser 09.21.2006 05:05 PM

It's a hard choice. I heard crimes hook up better on tracks, but heard bowties last longer! Not sure, never owned bowties except for my Jato. Hard choice between the two. But, i would go with squee's suggestion only because they have the inner groves to them.

sjcrss 09.21.2006 05:14 PM

makes sense...no i gotta find them on the bay....

neweuser 09.21.2006 05:19 PM

sjcrss 09.21.2006 06:44 PM

all i know is these foams are hard to find and I happened to find the orange ones along with the yellow medium foams..they also have these for 1/8 buggies as well

squeeforever 09.21.2006 09:16 PM

I don't think you got the MTR version...

sjcrss 09.21.2006 09:44 PM

if they are good...if they are not....no biggie...im sure they will work fine for me...

squeeforever 09.21.2006 09:57 PM

If they aren't, just duct tape the inside so they don't balloon.

sjcrss 09.21.2006 09:58 PM

yup.. that is what i was planning ....thanks for the help man......

squeeforever 09.21.2006 10:12 PM

Guys, probably you did not know yet, but while I was looking around a few weeks ago, Proline just turned their 1/10 scale HoleShot tires into MT tires. Its the same tires used for the T4 and B4. Now its for truggies and monster trucks.
What do you think of them?

Darren 09.22.2006 07:38 AM

I think the grips look a little small, problem with that is they get clogged up with dirt really easily and dont grip too well. Like the LSP tyres.

captain harlock 09.22.2006 07:49 AM

The pins were made smaller intentionally to be most suitable in hard off road tracks.

sjcrss 09.22.2006 08:11 AM

i saw those as well, I think Im gonna like my bowties though...cant wait to get em...

Hey squee, would these be better? The MTR's are the ineer ribbed ones right?

squeeforever 09.22.2006 04:04 PM

Yes. The MTR's are better because of the ribs. You can prevent ballooning, but you can't lessen the sidewall flex on the MT's. The MTR's do both.

Captain, the Holeshots are USELESS unless you have a blue groove, hard packed, dry clay track...

sjcrss 09.22.2006 04:39 PM

i talked to mike today, and he said i ordered the bowtie mt's.....which is fine.....they will work fine for me...thanks for the info though...

neweuser 09.22.2006 04:41 PM

So you didn't get the MRT's? Should have gotten the crimes then!

phidailo 09.22.2006 04:54 PM

don't mean to hijack the thread but you guys drills holes in the wheels with your bowties or crimes?

I have the white velocity wheels and did not with my bowties

squeeforever 09.22.2006 05:07 PM

I do...But from now on, I'm gonna punch holes in the tires instead...Lets the stuff sling out...

sjcrss 09.22.2006 05:29 PM

now ya tell me this.....i think i'll like the bows...atleast they will be alot better then my losi zombie maxx tires I had at the bash........and yess I'm gonna put 2 small holes in my rims in the center...for the air....

neweuser 09.22.2006 05:33 PM

Yeah, you'll like them, but if they aren't the MRT's, then i would have gotten the crimes. And yes sir, i did state this...just the fact of the inner ribs....

sjcrss 09.22.2006 05:37 PM

i can put ducttape inside the tire and solve that issue of ballooning if i want....but I was fine with my old tires....we will have to see about these.....the crimes don't have the inner ribs....so i'm ok with it.....

squeeforever 09.22.2006 05:42 PM

Punch holes in the tire, not the rim. It lets the water, dirt, etc. sling out.

sjcrss 09.22.2006 05:50 PM

and what do i use to do that...a hole punch..... did i tell you i'm using the ofna molded foams......do i still need to do this...

sjcrss 09.22.2006 05:55 PM

i don't wanna use a knife.....on slip and the tire is cut real bad...not to mention a finger or two......

squeeforever 09.22.2006 07:28 PM

Yea, use a hole punch, like maybe some for leather....I wouldn't use a knife or anything because it won't be perfectly round and might right with alot of power. If you tape them, make sure to cut holes in the tape as well, otherwise you would defeat the purpose...

sjcrss 09.22.2006 07:56 PM

ok..thanks

captain harlock 09.23.2006 06:40 AM

How about using body reamers to creat holes in the tires?

sjcrss 09.23.2006 09:01 AM

never thought of that......good idea
