TrueRC Lipos are the same as Maxamps
I was talking to the owner of TrueRC and his Lipos are the same used at Maxamps.
He showed me pictures of the serial thing and the manufacture of the cells. I don't know if all are but TrueRCs new 4000mAh cells are the same and nearly half the price to, they also have good heatshrink around them this time. I've preorderd some along with my charger to give them ago. |
They are not.
I have seen measurement on them , and they are not all that. The dimensions of the cells are different too. 45mm wide, vs 50mm wide. I presumed they where the same too, but after a little more digging i realized they are not. |
I removed the link nick. I didn't think it was right since mike sells the maxx amps brand. Let us know how they work out and what your thoughts are. Maybe mike can carry some of them to.
|
Leroy, I actually suggested to Dan that he contact Mike about selling his packs, but not sure if he ever did.
|
TrueRC told me they were the same, he had pictures of Maxamp cells and showed he orderd from the same retailer?
I didn't mean to be wrong with you guys, I thought the guy behind TrueRC would be reliable! :( |

Dan is reliable...Very realiable actually...I'm sure there is an explaination...

He says they are the same. :024: I don't need to post any more chat logs to prove it. Like I said I'm not trying to kick up a fuss, I thought I might be saving money for others if they are same cells but it seems you know better. |
I know that Dan wouldn't lie about the fact that there the same cell...I don't understand the size difference, but like I said, I'm sure there is a explanation. Besides, I would choose the TrueRC, but thats me, because the Max Amps packs are a few mm to tall. I think because of something they put to space the cells apart a little...Anywho, the TrueRC is what I'm going with because as far as the 8ah packs go, there the only ones that will fit...
|
Those graphs don't really look like 15C to me. The voltage and cap drop seems too drastic to really be a true 15C. 12C is already dropping..
|
That is probably why TrueRC rates theres as 10C continuous..
|
Perhaps it was an old batch, i would love to throw them in my lightweight maxx and hook them up the eagletree.
Perhaps these cells are different than the ones tested, but stating that they are the same is dared IMO. if you bought 40 of them and they are different (performance-wise), who would take the bullet for it? |
Guys there is an explanation... I hesitate to get into discussions like this here out of respect to all the parties involved.
The cells are the same source and essentially the same cell but they are slighlty different sizes. Maxamps gets theirs in a little smaller but thicker size. Take a maxamps cell and put it in a press.... and you will get a truerc cell. :) I have good reason to make this assumption and I'll leave it at that. |
That could have been the old cells that maxx amps had. They may be the same. May not be. If they work good that is the main thing.
|
This is not a discussion, this is just sharing thoughts.
one gp3300 isn't the other either. there are simple different grades in cells. but their is a difference in 'the same cells' or 'simular cells', right? |
@leroy, looking at the measurements they are different in terms of quality (power-wise)
|
Got 2 TrueRC packs for the price of 1 MaxAmps. Even if they are "similar" they appear to be better value in my opinion.
Just abit puzzled because like Squee said, I can't see Dan lieing, so they must be the same, either an older version or something. |
Can't argue about the price! no doubt.
I had contact with Dan too about those cells, and he seems to be a great person. |
I would say so...He gave me almost $50 off of a $200 charger...He knows how to keep his customers coming back, thats for sure...
|
And he is fast in his response to email as well.
|
They may indeed be different and perform a bit different.... but the reason I think they ARE the same is that Maxamps got a shipment of 4000s that were the wrong dimensions... a mistake from the manufacturer. Guess what the dimensions were? Exactly the same as Truerc's 4000s
This doesn't imply that they must be identical, but it looks like a duck to me... speaking of these mistake cells... I need to check and see if Austin has any left.... to fix up my packs. I hvae bought form both Dan and Austin, both are great guys imo. |
I know that Glass, they where 50mm wide, but that doesn't explain why these truerc cells give such a (relative) poor measurement.
|
Serum, what do you mean by poor? 80 amps continuous isn't poor...
|
I didn't know there were graphs that showed them to be different. hmmm
|
rcgroups;
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...hmentid=510171 I couldn't find the 80A graph i was hoping for Squee! I liked them too, so i did a little research.. (afterall, i am a cheap Dutchy...) |
Well, the 80 amps is for the 2P configuration...Forgot to mention that :005:...So 40 amps continuous for a 1P configuration...
|
LOL
did you see the 40A graphs? |
Sadly, yes....What cells are those? Max Amps?

I got a discount off my eStation 902 aswell. :)
For first time Lipos, I'm sure the performance will still be noticably better than Nimhs, right? |
Yea, Nick, they should be noticable better.
I got the E-Station 701 and its only DC. DC is better IMHO. |
Yeh I use 12v Battery all the time, the plugs in UK just arn't up to the job.

I can't blame maxamps for calling them 12-15c (are they now called 15C?) cause it fits based on how most other sellers rate them. It's a deep subject... a lot of different way cells get labeled.
I think 10C is actually underrating them... they surely qualify for 12c imho. 15c may be a stretch if the 3348 is accurate.... I don't recall the graph curve. What is voltage at mid point and max temp at 15c? I bought a cheapie chinese (I think) pack once that was complete garbage... rated I think 12c and it ran like maybe a 4c |
According to my own measurements, the maxamps can deliver 70A without dropping below the 3V mark.
|
Is that the 8000 or 6000 rene? Which cells was in the graph? Which cells did you have as well rene? I like to know this for a better comparsion. Hard to compare last years to this years model.
|
I have got the 'old' type maxamps (45mm) and the graphs i have seen where of the current cells i presume? they claimed to be the same specs as used on their site now.
|
So if the old ones are 45mm then the new ones are 50mm, so TrueRcs are Maxamps?
