Touring Cars

I already have my E-Revo finished, well just waiting for the lipo's and I thought to myself if I could reach about 60+ mph on my E-Revo how fast could I go with a touring car like a TC4 or an X-Ray?

What is everybody opinion on that?

Doesn't anybody have a brushless touring car for some info. If not what do you guys think? Do you think it possible to reach 100 mph with my revo setup on a touring car??? :026: :013: :007:

What's the deal with touring cars. Nobody responding. Are they not as fun even though they will go faster? Just curious why nobody interested.

A4DTM 10.26.2006 12:24 PM

I'd recomend a rally car. I had my tc3 for a while, and ran a basic 5300/7018 setup, as well as a b50 8s/hacker sport setup. it was pretty fun, but after I got some SNR rims and tires on it, and stretched it to 200mm, it was a BLAST on loose gravel. i'd say do it, but you'll most likely need to beef up the drivetrain.
I had 200mm aluminum front cvd's, NTC3 rear spool, and 190mm titanium rear cvd's, as well as the 200mm onroad kit (that comes w/ the aluminum cvd's), and the SNR tires.

How the heck did you run 8s lipos on a touring car?

It must have gone over 120 mph.

Now thats fast. :027:  :002: :019: :020: :013: :035:

Tazz 10.26.2006 02:54 PM

I have a TC4 but it is not brushless, Yet! I was thinking of one of the MM combos, 5700 or 7700 on 2s.

haha, no, 8s was the motor, not cell count. I ran that motor from 8 to 16 cells though. (16 is too much :005: )

vette1 10.27.2006 07:16 AM

How fast did it go?

Anybody with photos of there cars with brushless please post them on this thread for me to look at.

A4DTM 10.27.2006 12:52 PM

60's w/ the 5300, never ran it much w/ the 8s.

B15 10.27.2006 08:39 PM

I have a tc3 with a mamba 4600 and either 2s or 4s maxamps 4000 lipo packs. 4s is wayyyy too much power for it though. Even when stuff doesnt break (which is rare), its undriveable in any normal sized parking lot. I have 30mm foams on the back, and it can easily break all four tires loose at 30+ mph. I have no idea how fast it will go completely wound out, but according to the speed calculator someone posted on this forum, its a little over 100.
I would consider it very fast on 2s lipo. 4s is just stupid.

Here is my TL-01. Not much to look at but it does very well. Ball bearings, carbon driveshaft and I changed the shock mount locations. It has a mm, feigao 8s and I run it on 6 and 8 cells. Tires sure don't last long.

at the bottom of the page here is proof of hitting 100mph but it is nitro so bl will somke it any day http://www.radiocontrolzone.com/cars/video.asp

i know its not a touring car but that shows what possible are atleast in my mind it does lol but im racing now so no speed rockets well i have a spare team losi xxx s sport so there possibiltys but the 10 turns fried

BrianG 10.31.2006 08:27 PM

No offense, and no, I'm not trying to start something, but thats no way to get more input...

I'd like to get a touring car, but am afraid the low clearance will prevent running on normal pavement (like parking lots and such) due to the normal pebbles and small rocks. I would need about 10-15mm clearance to be safe. There aren't any sold locally that I've seen, so I can't really study any setups. Are there any that meet my needs? If so, that will be my next project.

What is the general opinion on the TC4 with a brushless setup? Or maybe even a nitro TC3 conversion to brushless?

captain harlock 11.06.2006 09:51 AM

Go to " Project Brushless Bazooka" thread using the search engine to get an idea of what a crazy brushless setup is like. The Project is cancelled, BTW.

BlackedOutREVO 11.06.2006 01:12 PM

nothing comes up but this thread captain?????????

i would go with the xxx s sport becuase its belt drive, the the tc 3,4 are shaft witch causes torqe steer

Have you ever driven either?
I own a TC3, and my friend owns a xxx s. I have never had any "torque steer" from my TC3, and after seeing what a 9 turn brushed motor on cheap cells did to a xxx s driveline, I would never put any kind of serious brushless setup in it. The belt lasted about 2-3 minutes of semi hard driving. I have no doubt it could be a very capable racer, but I wouldnt use anything more powerful than a novak 5800 in it.

well i have had a 10 trun and 7 cells and it did just fine, all it does it light up the tires... and yes i had a factory team tc4 and torqe steer with all the racers tips and everything still wouldnt go away
