Oops...
...Just the facts Ma'am...
...The Hellfire conversion has had a brain fart :( ...This is what i HAVE... Feigao 9L with a 1/8" / 3.2mm shaft and a 56t M1 metal spur :( ...As you can see I am sh!t outta luck :mad:1 ...This is what i NEED...Pick your poison... A: An M1 pinion with a 3.2mm bore...14, 15T? B: An up-sizer magical wand... C: A center diff with a 33 pitch count that will be able to be used with the hellfire diff... *Obviously I SHOULD get a new motor with the PROPER shaft and the PROPER pinion but whats the fuin in that :D But if thats what it comes down to then so be it... *Any and all options are welcome, EXCEPT the ones that involve selling my soul or getting a mortgage :D Peace... |
The kyosho spurs fit the centerdiff, so you don't need the metal spur. Get a lower KV motor than the 9L.
I will get back on your email later this day. |
...Thanks Serum...
...But a KYOSHO spur is still M1 isnt it? And would i go a HIGHER count than the stock 53 or lower? ...Buying another motor will happen later on but not just yet...I want to try to make the most of what i have right now...The 9L is running the 4.2kg E-Savage fine and with super-speed so i feel it should be ok in the hellfire for a while... |
Pick up a mod1 1/8" bore pinion... smallest tooth count you can get.
Or pick up 8-9XL :) |
...GlassDoctor you speak the truth my friend...But WHERE on this WHOLE planet can I find a 1/8" bore Mod 1? There are none here at Monster, none at Starluck...Where?
...Any can anyone direct me to a comparison between the 8 and 9XL? |
As silly as it may sound, it just might be easier (and maybe even cheaper) in the long run to simply get a motor with a 5mm shaft. You know Mike has those...
|
...Dood i KNEW you were going to say that :D
..OK so where can i understand the difference between an 8 & 9XL? Which will go better with 12-14 cells and the Hellfire gearing? What about tooth count? Man i hate being a NOOB again LOL... |
...ok i was going to get TWO Mod 1 pinions from the store here, 12 bucks each, not bad i thought but 25 USD shipping to Japan? For TWO pinions? We cant get these in a 5 buck Global Priority envelope? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

As for the pinions, there used to be some 1/8 mod1.... either starluck or rcmonster? I didn't know they were no longer available. I would agree wtih the "just get a 5mm XL motor" advice, and have a better motor and be done with the pinion issue... :005: Put that 9L w/weinie shaft in an unsuspecting 1/10 truck on 4s lipo and gear it to the moon..... :027: Two bl trucks are better than one. :010: |
You actually have several options right here on RC-Monster. I actually have a 10T Mod 1 pinion with a 3.2mm (1/8") shaft. Here, check these:
http://www.rc-monster.com/gears.php Scroll down to the 1/8" bore Mod 1 pinions. They're only $12 too. |
Sorry for my last post - I just realized you saw the other pinions. :005:
|
Could you get a new magnet for the 9L and step up to a 5mm shaft?
I not sure where you can get the rotor from. Just a thought. |

...And yeah the pinions ARE 12 bucks which is great but its the 25 USD shipping for TWO that is a kick in the nuts :013: |
...so there is NO ONE that can help me get these pinions? I rang Mike's bell but no answer...I guess that means i will just have to fly over them and pick some up lol...

Hey BitHed - sorry for the delay. Busy.
Bummer about the shipping. The vehicle I'm running my setup in is a Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium 10. I've put some Pro Line Snake Eyes tires on it, and Duratrax Evader threaded rear shocks all the way around. The power system is the Mamba Max 5700 & ESC, and I have a pair of 3100 mah 3 cell Poly quest lipos in series to give me a 6200 mah. I had to go down to the smaller pinion because the thing was getting hot with a 13t pinion. Now it runs awesome. If I was a better driver I could rip off some sweet laps and hang with the 1/8 buggies at the track. That new Ofna CRT .5 looks like a sweet vehicle coming out. About the closest thing to my Lightning 10. I dont' think I have any photos of it though. I'll see if I can dig a few up though. |
...No worries Sower...Its all good...I have to get a stateside buddy to grab me those pinions...
...Dont worry about your driving...I drive like crap too...It seems that every tree and rock is TRYING to get in the way :D ...not alot of Ofna's here in japan..The market here is still very 'domestic' though we ARE starting to see the odd Traxxas platform in the printed media...But we are still very much a country of KYOSHO, HPI and TAMIYA... |
Here's a couple old pictures. These have the old tires, shocks, reciever (now a Spektrum), steering servo, and heat sink. I think you'll get the idea though.
|
Well, my Lightning 10 is owned by HPI actually. Nice rides imo. And actually the Ofna is made by someone called Hong Nor I think. Don't know if that means there in Japan or not.
Believe it or not, I used to live in Japan. Okinawa. Don't remember it much though - I was 3 years old and it was 1975. :p |
...Coolies...Looks nice and compact :D I have no doubt i will go the lipo route at some stage...
...Right now I am putting together a HellFire which is in the truggy section... http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...7637#post67637 ...Down at Kadena? We drive around it when we take my school group down...I will hopefully get down there next year for a week... ...Hong Nor isnt Japanese...Chinese? Taiwanese? ...Hong Nor / Ofna sounds like one of those HB / HPI deals ;) |
Thanks. It's a little cleaned up since that photo actually.
The Hellfire is a pretty sweet truggy. I think my next conversion will be the Ofna CRT. Well I better get back to work. Word. |
