barnstormers??
hey guys,
i know there are quite a few big races there and was wondering if they have any coming up soon? will they have an emaxx class? where are they located? thanks |
Chester, NY - Orange County - They are going to be switching to their outdoor track in the next month - They have a memorial day of racing that kicks off their outdoor season. They usually have a good turnout for that weekend, and they will have a emaxx class if there are enough maxxes registered....
any emaxx events between the 16th and the 24th? i have that whole week off from school.
that says it doesnt start untill may???
correct. thr track is still very soft from all the snow and rain.
I'm headed down to peep the scene.
New to the game, ubernoob, so I'm looking to see what it's all about and enjoy a good time. |
so will there be any emaxx races this coming weekend. indoor or outdoor?
indoor is a little tight for emaxxes. but If walter and mike and sam bring theirs plus you that would be interesting.:-)
hey they say rubbing is racing.LOL! |
mabey i will come down, what date will this indoor race be on?
They race every friday night - from 5:30 - midnight usually. Mike and I usually attend....
mabey i will come down, what date will this indoor race be on?
are you and mike planing on going the 22nd?
I would believe so - We're usually there every friday night...
Here is a link for pictures of the new track layout:
http://www.msnusers.com/BARNSTORMERSRACEWAY Hope to see you guys Sunday!! |
Thanks for the link Sammie - The tracks opening day is May 1 - So if anyone is in the immediate area - swing on down - its sure to be a blast - From what i hear there should be some new guys to the track from conneticut and new jersey and long island. Doors open at 8:30 - 9:00 - Practice starts at 9:30 and then they will plan the beginning of the qualafiers accordingly... Why is it that no matter how early you start getting ready for the opening day - the stuff is always not ready - LOL. Know what i mean mikey....
You guys allow BL motors i assume? Me and my buddy might try and get up there for some races now that Dirt Runner's RC is actually enforcing the no BL rule.
Run what cha brung - Everything is allowed...
do u all race brushles maxx's there if so i have know chance im running duel trinitys 19t
Well there are some people that run brushed emaxxes - but they usually wind up changing to brushless. The current track config is not that hot for the brushless setups - If you can drive pretty decent - you should do fine with the dual 19's
ight cool yeah for my b-day im getting the 9918 warrior and the fiego 9l with the 9l what size shaft do u get for the e-maxx the 5mm or what ?
i am running the 5mm shaft - I used to run the 1/8 in shaft - but i was running 2 motor plates ( to keep the motor from flexing ) and broke the pinion shaft - ( with 2 plates the pinion sits way out on the end of the shaft ) thats how i broke the shaft last year in the east coast nationals in conneticut. Now that RC-Monster has true 5mm pinions - thats what i run.....
cool thanks

I Just thought I'd come in and show how the 9918 ESC was put to use that I got from here. The first race I had at dirtrunners I ran it dual 6 cell packs in parallel. I still took 3rd with a 28mph top speed. Now they won't let me race it there because a non brushless voting was passed. Who's afraid of 7.2v?, apparently everyone. Me and my frient have the the BK ESC's both in our cars and would feel more welcome coming to barnstomers and racing them. Which is pretty convenient, considering you mike the owner of this site happen to race at it. I look forward to racing here.

come on over!:-) I would like to see what you made. love to watch it race:-)
By all means, come on up! I raced at dirt runners one time. I won my race and had a bunch a cry babies saying that I didn't come in for a pit stop (which I did!). That was my first and last time racing there. It seems that if you win, they want to make a rule to prevent it from happening again! Things are much more lax at the Barn. The track is much better, too. I hope to see you there!
I'm glad someone sees my point of view. Were you the one that raced the BL E-maxx a couple races last year?
There is a bunch of people that assume different+win=better=ban. I think they took the voting from a wrong point of view. As members, they didn't want people to come with a better chance of winning, and that's it, no other things in consideration. Meaning less people could race. I would enjoy more track diversity, if someone raced with lipos and won, good. I supported the track, but now I wish they would be less ignorant and more open minded. I had several people come up to me, not interested in the buggy, just to tell me that brushless was banned. Is it a problem that a few people run BL systems? Just to come, race, have fun and go home, do other people have more at stake? I got first in mod oval with a Novak BL equipped Front wheel drive tamiya chassis, that really slapped them in the face! |
I only went one time. I did have a customer that went a few times, though. After the one race I went to, I had a bad taste and decided not to go anymore. It just isn't worth the hour drive to defend the fact that I won. What they don't seem to understand is that it is the driving that wins, not the car. Come on up to the barn.
Can we come to practice any day? It's about an hour for me and I want to find my way there before a race day. Does anyone else have an electric buggy?
I don't think you can just show up one day and practice, but HotnCold and I are pretty tight with the owner, so we have made arrangements in the past to practice a little. Show up early on race day and you can have a blast. We had a brushless buggy there a couple years ago, but none lately. They would probably let you race with the 1/8 buggies, though (they have in the past). I had an e-maxx converted to an electric buggy (well, it was still an e-maxx, but it had the original width suspension and a buggy body, wheels, wing and tires), but I am in the process of re building this truck with a different setup. You would certainly be welcomed at the track.

Mike, Me and CombatCM will most deffinately be coming to some races at the barn. When we were leaving the last race at DR, we almost felt not welcome anymore when they were announcing over the PA that BL motors are not allowed on the track. On the oval, the people with 10-12t motors were pulling on us on the straights, Carl ended up taking 1st, i took 3rd. The second place kid with his 10t passed me on the last lap on the back straight. Their low turn brushed have more power on 6cells, but they still complain. It's not my BL systems fault that he flew completely off the track when he couldn't take the turn in the middle of the race, it was funny though.
I do remember last year someone with an emaxx that ran a few races. I remember the 1 purple motor but didn't really know much about BL at the time. Hope to see your guys at the barn soon. |
I bought a kanai 2 with JT truggy conversion off ebay the other day and have been talking to mike about converting it to brushless. HEy 2 electric buggys makes a class .right?
I'm sure if you want to practice first something can be worked out with lou. maybe a saturday or tuesday night or something. |
How are races set up there? How long are the qualifiers, mains and such? And how much separate races do you race when you sign up for one class?
5 min qual - 5 min mains - usually - unless there is a big race weekend - then the mains for nitro are usually 15 min - however i have seen 1/8 scale mains that were 1/2 hour long. Usually when you sign up for 1 race - you race 2 heats and the main - with a few mins in between the heats for practice and tuning. If you enter one class then you race 2 qual heats and the main - if you enter more than one class - then they usually drop the cost for the next class - and so on....
I want to run my baja king buggy in the 4wd class, is the class motor unlimited, 19T or stock?
Outside is unlimited.
