UE Monoblock + UE Lightning = what shaft?

I keep getting told different measurements. I don't know what shaft I should be looking for so hopefully some of you guys can help. The rear shaft this is. Does 130.85mm pin centerlines sound right? Thanks.

coolhandcountry 12.07.2006 11:24 AM

The lightning takes a 105 center shaft.
The mono block I think adds like 30mm to over all length. I would go 135.

Nick 12.07.2006 12:07 PM

I posted on the UE forum under the new Monoblock thread and 1 guy was certain it was 130.85, no one else said otherwise.

Wonder if the nitro chassis/tranny makes it shorter?

coolhandcountry 12.07.2006 08:44 PM

It would depend on how much it extends it. If 30 mm I think it will be short.
If 25mm extended it would work

Nick 12.08.2006 09:31 PM

No idea what to do. :(

Robin still hasn't said.

Serum 12.09.2006 05:35 AM

The extension is 1.25" UE cups are made to have the pin sit in a certain position.

coolhandcountry 12.09.2006 10:40 AM

Is there a way to order the mono block now. Then you can measure it out.
Then you will know if you have the right length dog bone.

captain harlock 12.10.2006 01:17 AM

Well, can I finally get them? or are they still a preorder?

captain harlock 12.18.2006 02:29 AM

Any body got a Monoblock, yet?

coolhandcountry 12.18.2006 09:57 AM

The only one I knew that had one was papa. I think he sold truck with it.

Nick 12.18.2006 10:31 AM

Ordering one tonight. At long last.

captain harlock 12.18.2006 04:05 PM

My credit card is an international credit card and their site refused it.

Mike told me that he has ordered the Monoblocks three times from UE and they did not send them to him till this day. He and I are still waiting, though.

But, incase he wasn't lucky to get them, then how to get them?

PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEE, I'm dying for one.

Sylvester 12.18.2006 07:48 PM

Send them a MO. No either way around it... hope this helps.

Snap.

I can't understand UE, they make awesome products yet always produce lower than demand and don't accept payments from outside the USA (<- I wonder if that has anything to do with his obsessive patriotism). :024:

coolhandcountry 12.22.2006 10:38 PM

Well if they don't come in stock to ship none to no one. Then no matter what
you won't get one. I wonder if you couldn't draw and get your own machined.

captain harlock 12.23.2006 12:41 AM

Rest easy guys. CAUSE MIKE IS GETTING THEM PRETTY SOOOOON.

VWT4 12.23.2006 11:07 AM

Any new about the shaft lenght?? I already ordered a monoblock for my lightning chassis....

Serum 12.23.2006 11:44 AM

With the gmaxx i know the answer with the lighting i really can't help you. I think you can better ask robin on unlimited engineering.

He has no idea, Robin is being really useless at helping me. :(

Serum 12.23.2006 02:39 PM

Only thing i know is that the gmaxx extension extends the truck 30mm and the UE monoblock 31.75 mm.

i have got no idea about the length of the lightning.

VWT4 12.23.2006 02:41 PM

I asked about the shafts to UE and Sam answered:

I'm not sure. RC Alloys might still make custom bones but I not sure. I think Robin was looking into it for the Thunder and Lightning chassis. I tested a shaft the other day. I don't think it's quite 130mm though.

Serum 12.23.2006 02:46 PM

What length of shaft does the normal lightning use? isn't it 100.5 mm? and is that the size from pin/pin or end/end..? just add 31.75 mm to it, and you should be fine.

coolhandcountry 12.23.2006 05:05 PM

105 on the lightning rene. So 136.75 I figured a 135. Cause the shaft will be on less angle.

Nick 12.23.2006 05:55 PM

I've got told loads of different measurements. I'm going to get a Monoblock orderd and measure it myself.

Serum 12.23.2006 07:03 PM

probably the best thing to do.

Mike can get you any size of dogbone you need.

coolhandcountry 12.23.2006 11:34 PM

That is the safest option nick. they you know you more likely to have it right.
No guessing involved.

Nick 01.01.2007 07:24 PM

Orderd one from Mike.

Man, I'm so angry at Robin, he doesn't reply to any of my posts/PMs/E-mails about the shaft length (as he wants to sell his own) or about the international credit card getting rejected at his store. Last time I try anything with him. I've done a strong worded post on his forums to see what he comes out with, I just hate unproffesional businesses, probably because I'm English... Anyway, rant over, hope you guys have better luck with him, lol. :)

Mike rules!

Going to fit it when it comes and see what shaft I need, should look luuuurvly.

captain harlock 01.01.2007 09:36 PM

Just because this forum is dedicated to Oury's flagship company, I wont say any powerful words.

If I see him in person, I'll make sure to make him change the way he treats the international customers.

I heared that he is working on new projects and that is why he is not free enough to serve everyone.

coolhandcountry 01.01.2007 09:41 PM

Just cause you are busy with one project don't mean you should ignore
others. That is just plain wrong. Could cost money in the long run.

Nick 01.01.2007 10:06 PM

I'm puzzled at how UE is run. He makes REALLY good parts, yet he never meets the demand and cuts out a huge international market.

Just a side job maybe?

Sylvester 01.01.2007 10:10 PM

Maybe he is just looking to serve the US customers... i think ive heard enough complaints about UE for one night..

coolhandcountry 01.02.2007 09:45 AM

Maybe he has lots of money so he don't worry about what he makes.

captain harlock 01.03.2007 05:28 AM

Maybe we are thinking too much.:)

Nick 01.05.2007 04:49 PM

Got my Monoblock and fitted! Just doing some work on the shock then I'll put pictures up.

Urgh, I'm dribbling all over my keyboard, monoblock looks so nice. :004:

neweuser 01.05.2007 06:33 PM

I can't say anything bad about UE, even after our fall out last year, he hooked me up good, and you can't beat UE stuff. I would agree that CS is needed, but if he responded to me, then that can't be that bad. I do know though, that saying bad things about him will not help AT ALL! Give him time and either Sam or him will answer, just takes more time.
We are overly spoiled here at RCM!!!! Thank God!

Nice to hear that....

Which center rear driveshat are you using?

Nick 01.05.2007 06:48 PM

Robin never said so had to buy the Monoblock to measure it myself, lol.

It looks like (hard to measure) a 132mm pin to pin. Mike is sorting me out.

neweuser 01.05.2007 06:52 PM

Mike always does ;)

coolhandcountry 01.05.2007 08:03 PM

How much does the mono block stretch the chassis?

Nick 01.06.2007 06:50 PM

About 30mm or so. It looks funny (Wide chassis then narrow extension) but hopefully it will keep me on the ground!
