A little progress on my E-maxx

Here's a partial build shot of my E-maxx. I'm hoping to get the BL system in it next weekend to take it out for a test drive.

E-Maxx Pic

GorillaMaxx360 01.07.2007 11:32 PM

is that the FLM chassis or the UE one.

sjcrss 01.07.2007 11:41 PM

that is the FLM chassis

skellyo 01.07.2007 11:42 PM

Yep, FLM.

GorillaMaxx360 01.07.2007 11:51 PM

i am a little disappointed in the chassis it looks way cooler in the pictures on FLM and RC monster and it just looks out of place on an emaxx and i don't like the look as good as i thought i would. No offense skellyo you did a nice job on the truck i just don't like the chassis now that i actually see it on the emaxx i think it looks better in the pics. IMO it just looks to long or something, mabey it is the point at the end or the or the amount of space between the trans and the rear shock tower. Very nice truck though it defiantly looks bullet proof man that chassis is thick that think must be indestructible. It Looks good though nice truck really, i just was not expecting it to look that different than the pic on FLM's website.

skellyo 01.07.2007 11:54 PM

It also looks a bit longer because I've got a Gmaxx single speed tranny conversion as well. The tranny is half the width it was before.

GorillaMaxx360 01.07.2007 11:56 PM

yeah that may be it sorry about the last comment it was just not what i expected, but every time i look at the pic i seem to like it more and more, i think the reason i am seeming to like it i little more than 5 min. ago is because i cant get over how beefy it is that makes it cool.

skellyo 01.07.2007 11:59 PM

I'm not at all offended by your opinion of the chassis. I chose it simply because I only bash with my maxx and wanted something that will hold up well to abuse (with a great warranty too) and also have a higher center of gravity than a Gmaxx chassis. I wanted it to remain more of a monster than truggyish (wow, new word there).

BrianG 01.08.2007 12:11 AM

Actually, I think it looks quite beefy and strong. If anything, I would say it must weigh a lot. But there seems to be enough machined-out areas to keep it light.

Pretty too. Now, you just gotta put the motor, batts, ESC, and receiver on there! ;)

skellyo 01.08.2007 12:18 AM

Yep, I've got a pretty little 540C 8XL and Mamba Max waiting to be installed in their new home.

GorillaMaxx360 01.08.2007 08:58 AM

very nice for you needs. It is cool that you are trying to keep the monster feel i tryed to do the same and got sucked in to the truggy vibe.

Mike.L 01.08.2007 09:03 AM

Yeah, they aren't the prettiest, but I got them cheap...$22 for the whole set. I couldn't buy anything that looked better for that price, much less a beadlock.

Mike.L 01.08.2007 09:22 AM

mike has some maxx dish rims for 10 something.(2) so it cheaper.

jollyjumper 01.08.2007 09:35 AM

nice rig.
hpi or sportwerks tires?

skellyo 01.08.2007 10:00 AM

HPI Super Mudders...I have a set of stock Revo tires/wheels I'll be running as well.

jollyjumper 01.08.2007 10:05 AM

thanx

I think he wants the bead locks, and for 22 bucks, WOW! Maybe dye them if you don't like the color? Not sure, never dyed anything before though.
Nice truck man!

Nice truck man!

Thanks!

I plan to match a section of the body paint with the wheels, so they should look pretty good when I'm done. Although I do have another set of the X-75 beadlocks in Blue that I could use.

I'm more of a blue fan myself, but it would be nice to see a little more red since blue is so popular.

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 08:00 PM

Skellyo where did you get the front drive shaft for the gmaxx single speed trany. i know you used the flm one for the rear but which one for the front if it is off of rcc monster which one is it thanks.

skellyo 01.14.2007 08:17 PM

It's a MIP CVD from a set of center CVD's.

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 08:19 PM

k thanks

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 10:22 PM

so the 2 dogbones mike sells for the gmaxx extended should fit the front one at least will fit.

skellyo 01.14.2007 10:27 PM

This is what I used.

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=mip1495

I don't know if the dogbones are the correct length for a FLM chassis.

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 10:33 PM

but the mip ones are stock legnth right and the front where the smaller cvd goes is the same legnth as the smaller stock front cvd right.

When it's all put together it will look great! No worries.

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 10:49 PM

It is kind of funny that i said i did not like it as much as i did in the pic but i am realy considering grabbing that chassis for my maxx.

Procharged5.0 01.14.2007 11:01 PM

It's a great chassis for $90. Can't beat it!

It's missing an antenna mounting location and a spot for an on/off switch, and the batteries need to be secured by the 1" G-Maxx straps. But generally it's really nice. I have one as well.

jollyjumper 01.28.2007 10:31 AM

bump.
how do the hpi super mudders work?:032:

Sylvester 01.28.2007 11:34 AM

Looks good skellyo! Those shocks are gonna be a pita if they are gpm or hot bodies.

jnev 01.28.2007 04:11 PM

Looks awesome skellyo. Great work!!

They are HB and I haven't had a problem with them in the past 3 years that I've used them.

how do they feel?
nice and sticky?

GorillaMaxx360 05.29.2007 05:35 PM

he man just reading this semi-old thread and i had a few questions for you because i am having some issues. first the flm dogbone for the rear does not work with the hb diffs i have with the hybrids. It is too long, legnth is fine but since there is an angle binding occures because the cvd is to far agenst the edge of the diff cup. What size is that in the rear or what did you do to make it fit. Also does that mip one work in the front with hb diffs, and how much play does it have.

I don't have HB diffs in mine. I have UE 8 Spyders. The FLM bone worked fine in the rear for mine and a MIP CVD worked fine in the front. I don't have any binding in my drivetrain with them.

The real sad part of this is that I still don't have this truck running yet. I need to finish the body and wire up the motor/ESC and that's just about it. Here lately though, I've been so busy with my 6 mo old daughter and work that I haven't had the time.

DickyT 05.29.2007 05:49 PM

You'll get it running soon enough, and when you do it will be perma grin! For a little while anyway.

I feel your pain! My Supermaxx is still sitting partially assembled! Can't find the time to get it finished! :035:
