losi 8ight

Just saw the other 8ight on here so I figured I should post some pictures of mine too.:027: It will be running a mamba max with a feiago 9xl c motor. The battery will be 5s 6000mah maxamps pack. So far I only ran it on a 5s 4000mah pack twice but the pack was not up to it so it is getting sent back, (thanks Austin):027: and being upgraded to a 6000mah pack. The motor mount was done my mike.

Then I get the battery back I will have to play with the diff oils. Currently there is still grease in the front and rear, 7000wt in the center. Hope you like it.

looks nice, i always like the eight.

Sylvester 01.13.2007 05:11 PM

Very nice! I like those rim stickers, as well as the yellow paint scheme!

squeeforever 01.13.2007 05:11 PM

Nice! What kinda wing is that? Looks similar to the High Downforce wing made by Proline...

Serum 01.13.2007 05:15 PM

Awesome thing!

Who made that motormount? Great work!

I have seen the site; but where to get these wheel stickers?

What maxamps 4000 packs did you have? the new 50C thingies?

squeeforever 01.13.2007 05:15 PM

Serum, you can get them from http://www.upgrade-rc.com

It is the J Concepts Wing

BTW nice buggy gixxer!

Bye:018:

squeeforever 01.13.2007 05:27 PM

Thank you!

gixxer 01.13.2007 09:49 PM

rcmonster made the mount. You are right the rim stickers are upgrade and the wing is jconcepts. The paint was just a simple two color spray can. I was disappointed in the yellow though. It was suppose to be flouresant. also the battery was the 50c ones.

starscream 01.13.2007 10:22 PM

Lookin good gixxer,
Are you using the stock spur gear?
How is the weight distribution like with you motor on the oposite side?

How is the braking with motor brakes only?

cemetery gates 01.14.2007 12:17 AM

Why were you displeased with the 4000's? I run 5s 4k's in my truggy with a 9xl and they barely get warm....

Bye:018:

I am running a kyosho 44t spur. The 4000mah packs didn't get hot but the tabs were getting hot enough to melt the shrink on the end, so I dont think they were able to handle the load or maybe a bad solder(not sure wasn't going to open it up because austin said he would exchange it towards a bigger pack).
as for weight with the 4000's the motor side was actually heavier. the brakes are fine with just the motor, that is the same way I ran it on my hyper 8.

So does the kyosho 44t spur fit the 8ight center diff then (without mods)?

gixxer 01.14.2007 01:25 AM

It should. I didn't try it but I know glassdoctor was running the kyosho gears on his and he had the stock mount. he has an old write up on his buggy and you should be able to see it in his review.

That's what i was affraid of.. So they don't do 20-30C continues i guess..

Nice buggy conversion!

Yeah, if a 5S 4000mAh battery which claims 20/50C is not enough to move that buggy, the batt is definitely not 20C cont! Remember, one year ago the 3700mAh 5S (and even 4S) Kokams were the ticket for EMaxxes... makes you think, doesent it?

They were 3200mah :mad:1 :005: :004:

Dafni 01.14.2007 01:03 PM

Sorry, my memory is not what it used to be.

3200... and they claimed 12C, right? See? It only goes to show!

Serum 01.14.2007 01:08 PM

they claimed a 12C continues, and 20C peak, which they did more than well!

MetalMan 01.14.2007 01:14 PM

I thought they marketed them as 20C and 40C peak?

coolhandcountry 01.14.2007 01:29 PM

Nice buggy.

starscream 01.14.2007 01:57 PM

MM is right they are rated for 20C Cont & 40C peak.
I own three packs and they are awesome for MT's and 1/8th scale.
DAF, you may be refering to the Polyquest packs, they are 3700mAh at 20C.

The Kokam scorpions were 20c cont and 30c peak i think, maybe 40c peak

starscream 01.15.2007 04:48 AM

Tower carries the Kokam cells now and the specs are outlined there.
20C cont 40C peak.

The FMA scorpians used these cells (3200's) as well as the balance pro, and the balance pro hv's. It seems, for whatever reason, FMA stopped carrying Kokam cells and no longer sell these packs anymore.

I own two FMA BalancePro HD 6S chargers and am still waiting for the BalancePro HD to ThunderPower or PolyQuest Adapters to come back in stock. :028:

Kokam "pulled the plug" on FMA.
