Which Chassis

Ok the choices are Gmaxx alu chassis with slippperiential. or flm chassis with g1 single speed and i will have enough cash to buy sliders, shocks, and rpm knuckles and other stuff i will be basher by day and a racer by night. How long (estamite) do you think untill the gmaxx single speed conversion comes into stock. will i realy notice a big difference in performance with gmaxx chassis. Basically is it worth waiting and not having sliders and knuckles and going with gmaxx or should i get sliders knuckles and shocks and gmaxx chassis with all the goods like strobe and steel idler. which setup do you guys recommend. (for some reason i am worried about the looks of flm chassis)

captain harlock 01.15.2007 02:02 PM

Gorillamaxx with slippy.

GorillaMaxx360 01.15.2007 02:03 PM

but it is like 200 more

captain harlock 01.15.2007 02:07 PM

But its waaay better.

Procharged5.0 01.15.2007 02:12 PM

The G-Maxx chassis is the way to go for racing. No question.
If you race ocassionally but mostly bash, I'd vote for the FLM chassis and some support hardware (other upgrades).

You have to deceide what you'll be doing most with the truck.

GorillaMaxx360 01.15.2007 02:29 PM

bash during week racing on weekends i will have flm combo bulks, gmaxx skids, braces for bulks, flm towers(which i already own), flextek arms(already own) flm diff cups, sliders, revo knuckles, g1 single speed conversion. Mostly mild bashing and weekend racing. Though i am not worried if either chassis will hold up or race good because i believe the driver can make up for the performance difference and me being a not so great driver am i going to feel a huge difference between the two. Basically for me it is between the cash. If i get the gmaxx and slipperential, i will not be able to affort hinge pins, shocks, knuckles, and shocks, but i will have a slipperential. But if i get the flm combo i will get everthing alu and i will have an extra 100 bucks for brushless equiptment. Also money is not so easy to come buy because i get 10 bucks a week and everything else is birthday so if i do get the gmaxx it might be an aditional couple of months before i can obtain the other items needed like cvds shocks, skuckles. so with that being said what do you guys think.

Procharged5.0 01.15.2007 02:38 PM

Considering the cash flow issue, I would vote for the FLM chassis. Its a great value. The G-Maxx & slipperential will outperform it on the track if you have the additional $$$ to invest into it.

You have the start of a really nice truck! Ask yourself if you can afford to build it the way you want to, and if you can how long will it take?

You may need to make a few compromises when you build it up (most of us do) in order to fit your budget. $10/wk x 16 weeks = slipperential. $10/wk x 19 weeks = G-Maxx chassis. $10/wk x 27 weeks = FLM Hybrid bulks & hb diffs, etc. etc.

GorillaMaxx360 01.15.2007 02:53 PM

I have 600 right now and i can either afford the whole setup including shocks sliders knuckles and diffs cvds and flm chassis and have extra cash. or i can buy everything i listed exept for cvds sliders and shocks but i can sacrifise these items for gmaxx ans slipperential. is it worth it to have the gmaxx and just wait fo the knuckles and sliders and shocks will the coolness and performance be worth the extra 150 bucks.

Mike.L 01.15.2007 03:08 PM

the g-maxx hands down! and with the added slipperencial it would handle something like a truggy.

cemetery gates 01.15.2007 03:28 PM

I say go with the g-maxx and slipperential, I makes the maxx like a truggy which is a very versatile vehicle. I have a BL LSP, which is a truggy and I use it for both bashing and racing. So, I do not see why the g-maxx + slipperential could be a bad choice...

Bye:018:

Procharged5.0 01.15.2007 03:31 PM

I missed the fact that you had $600 to get started.

If you can do it the G-Maxx/Slipperential is argualbly the best going. that would be hard to top!

GorillaMaxx360 01.15.2007 03:53 PM

Ok i decided i will do this how does this thing work where i can tell mike if i want the shorter nonextended shaft legnth. Also does the chassis extension make a difference in performance.

captain harlock 01.15.2007 04:35 PM

An extended chassis will not wheelie as much as a none extended chassis. With the slipperential and a none extended chassis, the chances of wheeliying will be minimal.

smhertzog 01.15.2007 10:31 PM

$600 and you get $10 a week! If only everyone could be as good at saving money as you. My hat is off to you GorillaMaxx360:027: Your parents must be proud.

squeeforever 01.15.2007 11:55 PM

Definately go with the Gorillamaxx and slipperential, but consider this. You don't have to get the slipperential right now. Get the G-Maxx chassis and everything else and get the truck running. Just use the stock 2 speed tranny in the meantime so you don't have to wait for the rest of the money. Make sense?

ncalenda 01.16.2007 12:20 AM

Why is the slipperential better then the single tranny?

jhautz 01.16.2007 12:59 AM

Dude.... You have been agonizing over what to buy forever now. At some point you just have to make a decision and start. You went from a full blown tricked out maxx and then started in on a revo conversion. Now your back to the Maxx.

You need to just pick a direction and start. I can tell you this much, no matter what you choose you will always find something you wish you would have done a week later when something else cool comes out. No one truck can be everything.

The beauty of this situation is no matter what direction you go you will build a killer truck. You have done a ton of research and looked at this from almost every possible angle. You know what you are doing!! Just take that step and start man. I want to see how yours turns out.:018:

You will keep second guessing yourself until you make yourself (or us :005: ) crazy. Trust yourself and start. No truck is perfect right out of the gate. They evolve and become what you want. Start with what you can do and add to it as you can. Then you can fine tune the performance to exactly what you need.

There is nothing more satisfying than pulling that throttle and feeling the power the first time!

(sorry. I didn't mean to rant on you, I just see you going around in circles on this and I'm just trying to give you that little nudge to start.) I'll shut up now.:010:

captain harlock 01.16.2007 05:25 AM

My...what a lovely lecture this is..:)

jollyjumper 01.16.2007 06:38 AM

i have gorillamaxx's problem aswell, never knowing what is best for yourself.
so nowadays, i tend to just jump on one thing, and if its really bad or not to my liking i just look at the other options then.
so just get the gmaxx.
and if you really dont like, sell and buy the flm or so.

neweuser 01.16.2007 06:17 PM

I can understand on both sides. But jhautz is right in a sense. Anywho, glad you went with the maxx, there is much you can do to it. Not to mention, much to spend! LOL, god knows I did on mine! Speaking of which, hey capt'n, got pics of yours yet?

Sylvester 01.16.2007 06:22 PM

Well said jhautz ; Either way you will have one sick machine, Gorilla.

It wanst my intent to lecture or offend. It was meant in the best way possible. I was only trying to point out that he has done the resarch an knows more about the maxx than 99.9% of most Maxx owners and he hasnt even started his project yet. Hes ready to start.:)

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 07:42 PM

Sweet. Cant wait to see it!!!

Once its done we'll have to meet up and race. I have a road racing setup for my maxx. Its no where near as nice as yours sounds like it'll be though.:018:

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 08:08 PM

My is actually will be setup for road to because there is no track that is off road. I will need to practice before a race is in order because i have not drove a maxx in over a year. I live near Crystal Lake in Chicago IL.

Even though gorillamaxx360 did post a ton of threads, it sure will come in handy when a newcomer comes to the forums and acutally uses the search button. :)

My thoughts exactly! But, everyone knows how many questions I asked! But I did use the search button at times for some of it. You do have to know what to put in to search though. Otherwise you can come up with a bunch of mumbo jumbo....:005:

Sylvester 01.17.2007 04:49 PM

Even the greatest of people were once noobs at this stuff.

jollyjumper 01.17.2007 05:04 PM

when will it be ready gmaxx?
thanks.
oh yea sorry for the hi-jack.:D

GorillaMaxx360 01.17.2007 05:40 PM

friday, saturday, or monday the items will be in and i will do the build up and post the pics that day. No Prob about the Hi-Jack

Mike.L 01.17.2007 05:46 PM

Can't wait to see this baby built!

Serum 01.17.2007 06:21 PM

What is it that your bought? great to see you actually got your ship together! If we can be of any help, don't hesitate to ask, okay?

You posted a lot of questions, but that is one of th main reasons of this forum. the reason i asked you to post the questions instead of asking them by PM, is because now everybody who has got that question can be directed to yours. (if they didn't used the search button)

Awesome to hear you got the stuff!

neweuser 01.17.2007 06:27 PM

Yeah man, if you need help with how things go together, just ask. Also, if you can at the time, post a pics with what you are building, sometimes it helps more than a typing explaination.

Procharged5.0 01.17.2007 06:31 PM

Yep, let us know. We're here for you!

neweuser 01.17.2007 06:40 PM

Ok, ok....let's not get to sappy!:020:

GorillaMaxx360 01.17.2007 09:07 PM

I am hoping for the stuff tomarrow or friday cant wait. Thanks serum.
