Initial photos are of the prototype. Minor changes have been made for the production version.

GorillaMaxx360 01.23.2007 11:00 PM

finally nice. it is a good idea i have not purches my strobe stetup yet this could be a better option but it will be a month or so before i buy this setup(slipper setup) for my maxx and this setup of yours definatly looks promising will it work with h1 speed conversion thanks for pics keep up the good work.

Procharged5.0 01.23.2007 11:01 PM

There will be a single speed version for the G-Maxx Single Speed Conversion.

Procharged5.0 01.23.2007 11:02 PM

I hope to offer these thru Mike here at RC-M. I need to discuss this with him further.

GorillaMaxx360 01.23.2007 11:03 PM

how does the thing actually work i mean attach i can not really see the wording on the pics very well if you dont mind could you ellaborate on the benifits of this and how it works and is installed thanks

cemetery gates 01.23.2007 11:03 PM

Looks cool; you should sell this to traxxas if they do a 3.3 spec e-maxx:005:
What spurs do they use? MGT, t-maxx 3.3, revo?

Thanks!

Bye:018:

Procharged5.0 01.24.2007 10:28 AM

Revo spurs work if you can make use of the 36/38/40T options. T-Maxx3.3 spurs fit but are NOT MOD1 pitch. MGT's gears are mod1 but do not fit the REVO3.3 spec slipper.

Spurs are custom for the slipper and use MOD1 pitch.

Sylvester 01.24.2007 05:03 PM

Looks good! Is that the stock pins holding in the gears? They are horrible.

Procharged5.0 01.24.2007 05:07 PM

No. The picture (I guess is was a bit blurry, or the compression messed it up) shows a hardened steel pin pressed into the first gear and a std. roll pin (weak!) in the second.

My slippers will have pressed steel pins in both gears.

The picture is of the prototype. Production pieces are not yet available.

Anyone know the thickness of the G-maxx motor mounts?

GorillaMaxx360 01.24.2007 11:18 PM

no but it might say on the website if i had to guess i woulkd say two to three milimmeters.

2-3mm? Wouldn't that be very flexible? I think it would at least be 4-6mm...

Bye:018:

The base or ( vertical part) of the MM is between 4-6, & the tab were the motor mounts too is 3mm.

Procharged you did a good job on your slipper setup ,i like it.

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 12:58 AM

Thanks hippie!

Production pieces are not far off. I've had trouble with the Delrin spurs mostly.

I was asking about the GMaxx motor mount so that there was adequate clearance between the slipper and the motor mount. I have a 4mm motor plate with 3mm clearance on the slipper. so a 6mm mounty should have just enough clearance.

Anyone with a G-Maxx motor mount................

Can you measure it for me please????

crazyjr 01.25.2007 01:11 AM

Is that a new shaft? or, Did you use the stock shaft?

too bad i'm going slipperential, I'd have picked the first one up

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 01:19 AM

The shaft is custom made from high strength steel. Several times stronger than stock. The Slipper is secured by a 5mm nyloc nut. Pins on the gears are solid hardened steel. I'll re-post the picture with the details/highlights. I need to reformat it first.

I disagree :004:. If you drill out three of the slipper peg holes in the MGT spur (in a triangular pattern) to 5mm, and drill the center hole to 10mm, you can mount MGT spurs to the Revo slipper clutch if you use a 5x10mm bearing in the gear and washers under the screws holding the gear on. It's a tight fit onto the Revo slipper clutch, but it fits. This is a great way to get a 52t mod1 spur onto a Revo slipper clutch :027:. And best of all, the gear is only $3.50.

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 01:42 AM

Yes & No MM.

The holes do line up with the 3.3 slipper pressure plate and can be drilled to fit. The center hole however is not 10mm and the size must be just right for a mild interference fit for the 5x11 bearing. It must also be on center to prevent excessive run-out which would make setting pinion/spur mesh a nightmare.

MetalMan 01.25.2007 02:16 AM

I know the bearing hole isn't 10mm, I said if you drill it to 10mm you could use a 5x10mm bearing in the spur. The hole is almost 10mm though, so minimal drilling is required, decreasing the chances of the hole being drilled off-center.

I did this with the custom slipper clutch setup for my X-Terminator 1/8 buggy (Revo slipper clutch + MGT spur) so I know it works.

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 02:34 AM

Fair enough!

Serum 01.25.2007 02:49 AM

Nice Hank!!

very nice!

The gmaxx mount may be a non-fit with these. It's close with the strobe already, the point is that the gmaxx mount sits on the other side (not on the gearbox) so the slipper sits between the tranny and the mount.

Like i said a thin strobe slipper is a tight fit; i am pretty possitive that this will be too thick. Not to worry, who uses a gmaxx mount nowadays? Can't do the measurements for you right now, i am off to work..

Great work Hank, this gives us some room to play with gearing.

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 02:59 AM

Thanks for the compliments Rene! If you would be so kind and measure the mount on the g-maxx I would appreciate it. Perhaps I can accommodate the spacing. If not, I'll probably shorten the input "snout" slightly for typical installs.

GorillaMaxx360 01.25.2007 08:55 AM

so is this basically the same setup used on the slipperential (the slippersetup at least). so i can use revo spurs and the pressure plates and all those revo slipper, spur items

Procharged5.0 01.25.2007 10:36 AM

YES! That's part of the beauty of it.

I'll be looking into alternate material for the "friction pucks" to fine tune slipper action. For now the standard Traxxas pucks have proved to work very well.

coolhandcountry 01.29.2007 11:48 AM

Cool. I didn't know it was out yet.

and a few more.

Additional details and production piece pics forthcoming.

neweuser 01.29.2007 12:26 PM

Nice job Hank. Is the top shaft longer to fit the Revo slipper?

Procharged5.0 01.29.2007 12:32 PM

Not necessarily longer, but a larger diameter, and appropriate length, and drilled to accept the slipper.

Stronger & more capable!

neweuser 01.29.2007 12:40 PM

What is the diameter of the new shaft?

Procharged5.0 01.29.2007 12:52 PM

Roughly 4.97mm or .196"

Hope this pic posts ok. It provides additional details. PICTURE SHOWS STANDARD MODEL

BP-Revo 01.31.2007 11:38 PM

Wow that looks AWESOME. :004: I'll be your first customer (maybe a tester? :D - hint hint lol  :005:)

I think this will be the ticket for me since my RR spur has been slipping like hell. The point between locked and too much slip is literally just a 3/32 of a turn or so, and the worst part is the nut loosens and such - making it a pain in the arse to keep it constant.

You have a price range yet?

Procharged5.0 01.31.2007 11:42 PM

Very rough estimate of $55-60 standard and $90 PRO model w/DFL gears & Delrin Spur. The single speed versions will be $7-10 less.

BP-Revo 01.31.2007 11:56 PM

Whoa...thats a great price. The RR setups are nearly 40 and these are by FAR better...

PS. Need a tester? lol

jollyjumper 02.05.2007 09:41 AM

i might need one of these without the input shaft.
for a project of mine.
when will it be done hank?
thanks, mike.

Procharged5.0 02.05.2007 10:52 AM

Mike,

If you need just the slipper you can buy that from any LHS that stocks traxxas parts. It is a REVO3.3 spec slipper. I have a limited quantity on hand for the initial product release and would prefer to keep them for the complete slipper kits. If you need a spur, then let me know what you need (Material & tooth count) and I should be ableto help you out there.

jollyjumper 02.05.2007 11:23 AM

ok. thanks.
i'll shall see what i need soon.

BP-Revo 02.06.2007 10:29 PM

Procharged - any idea of when the initial release will be?

Procharged5.0 02.06.2007 11:59 PM

Late February. Waiting on the next batch of shafts & delrin spurs. All other parts are in stock including packaging.

Kiwi E-Maxx 02.08.2007 06:53 PM

Keep me posted , I'm looking forward to their availability... See whether you can get a 10t Mod pinion with 1/8 bore..

Thanks
