HSR Motorsports Slipper Photos!
4 Attachment(s)
Initial photos are of the prototype. Minor changes have been made for the production version.
|
finally nice. it is a good idea i have not purches my strobe stetup yet this could be a better option but it will be a month or so before i buy this setup(slipper setup) for my maxx and this setup of yours definatly looks promising will it work with h1 speed conversion thanks for pics keep up the good work.
|
There will be a single speed version for the G-Maxx Single Speed Conversion.
|
I hope to offer these thru Mike here at RC-M. I need to discuss this with him further.
|
how does the thing actually work i mean attach i can not really see the wording on the pics very well if you dont mind could you ellaborate on the benifits of this and how it works and is installed thanks
|
Looks cool; you should sell this to traxxas if they do a 3.3 spec e-maxx:005:
What spurs do they use? MGT, t-maxx 3.3, revo? Thanks! Bye:018: |
Revo spurs work if you can make use of the 36/38/40T options. T-Maxx3.3 spurs fit but are NOT MOD1 pitch. MGT's gears are mod1 but do not fit the REVO3.3 spec slipper.
Spurs are custom for the slipper and use MOD1 pitch. |
Looks good! Is that the stock pins holding in the gears? They are horrible.
|
No. The picture (I guess is was a bit blurry, or the compression messed it up) shows a hardened steel pin pressed into the first gear and a std. roll pin (weak!) in the second.
My slippers will have pressed steel pins in both gears. The picture is of the prototype. Production pieces are not yet available. Anyone know the thickness of the G-maxx motor mounts? |
no but it might say on the website if i had to guess i woulkd say two to three milimmeters.

Procharged you did a good job on your slipper setup ,i like it. |
Thanks hippie!
Production pieces are not far off. I've had trouble with the Delrin spurs mostly. I was asking about the GMaxx motor mount so that there was adequate clearance between the slipper and the motor mount. I have a 4mm motor plate with 3mm clearance on the slipper. so a 6mm mounty should have just enough clearance. Anyone with a G-Maxx motor mount................ Can you measure it for me please???? |
Is that a new shaft? or, Did you use the stock shaft?
too bad i'm going slipperential, I'd have picked the first one up |
The shaft is custom made from high strength steel. Several times stronger than stock. The Slipper is secured by a 5mm nyloc nut. Pins on the gears are solid hardened steel. I'll re-post the picture with the details/highlights. I need to reformat it first.

Yes & No MM.
The holes do line up with the 3.3 slipper pressure plate and can be drilled to fit. The center hole however is not 10mm and the size must be just right for a mild interference fit for the 5x11 bearing. It must also be on center to prevent excessive run-out which would make setting pinion/spur mesh a nightmare. |
I know the bearing hole isn't 10mm, I said if you drill it to 10mm you could use a 5x10mm bearing in the spur. The hole is almost 10mm though, so minimal drilling is required, decreasing the chances of the hole being drilled off-center.
I did this with the custom slipper clutch setup for my X-Terminator 1/8 buggy (Revo slipper clutch + MGT spur) so I know it works. |
Fair enough!

Nice Hank!!
very nice! The gmaxx mount may be a non-fit with these. It's close with the strobe already, the point is that the gmaxx mount sits on the other side (not on the gearbox) so the slipper sits between the tranny and the mount. Like i said a thin strobe slipper is a tight fit; i am pretty possitive that this will be too thick. Not to worry, who uses a gmaxx mount nowadays? Can't do the measurements for you right now, i am off to work.. Great work Hank, this gives us some room to play with gearing. |
Thanks for the compliments Rene! If you would be so kind and measure the mount on the g-maxx I would appreciate it. Perhaps I can accommodate the spacing. If not, I'll probably shorten the input "snout" slightly for typical installs.
|
so is this basically the same setup used on the slipperential (the slippersetup at least). so i can use revo spurs and the pressure plates and all those revo slipper, spur items
|
YES! That's part of the beauty of it.
I'll be looking into alternate material for the "friction pucks" to fine tune slipper action. For now the standard Traxxas pucks have proved to work very well. |
Cool. I didn't know it was out yet.

A couple more pics.

and a few more.
Additional details and production piece pics forthcoming. |
Nice job Hank. Is the top shaft longer to fit the Revo slipper?
|
Not necessarily longer, but a larger diameter, and appropriate length, and drilled to accept the slipper.
Stronger & more capable! |
What is the diameter of the new shaft?
|
Roughly 4.97mm or .196"

Hope this pic posts ok. It provides additional details. PICTURE SHOWS STANDARD MODEL
|
Wow that looks AWESOME. :004: I'll be your first customer (maybe a tester? :D - hint hint lol  :005:)
I think this will be the ticket for me since my RR spur has been slipping like hell. The point between locked and too much slip is literally just a 3/32 of a turn or so, and the worst part is the nut loosens and such - making it a pain in the arse to keep it constant. You have a price range yet? |
Very rough estimate of $55-60 standard and $90 PRO model w/DFL gears & Delrin Spur. The single speed versions will be $7-10 less.
|
Whoa...thats a great price. The RR setups are nearly 40 and these are by FAR better...
PS. Need a tester? lol |
i might need one of these without the input shaft.
for a project of mine. when will it be done hank? thanks, mike. |
Mike,
If you need just the slipper you can buy that from any LHS that stocks traxxas parts. It is a REVO3.3 spec slipper. I have a limited quantity on hand for the initial product release and would prefer to keep them for the complete slipper kits. If you need a spur, then let me know what you need (Material & tooth count) and I should be ableto help you out there. |
ok. thanks.
i'll shall see what i need soon. |
Procharged - any idea of when the initial release will be?
|
Late February. Waiting on the next batch of shafts & delrin spurs. All other parts are in stock including packaging.
