I guess it's no good here..

Rcbros 05.04.2005 08:10 PM

I'm having one made for me already. Thanks though.

Serum 05.05.2005 03:36 AM

@rcbros;

You mean made as in 'cnc milled'?

Rcbros 05.05.2005 09:49 AM

No I'm making it with a clay mold then I'm going to pour in lead from my fishing weights. LMAO

Yes of course Serum :P :D

Serum 05.05.2005 09:58 AM

How much for one?

I don't know if you considered this?

I am looking for a cnc'd one, i don't like the GPM molded types..

You got instructions on molding them with lead? I thought foam was easier? ;)

Rcbros 05.05.2005 10:02 AM

LOL. I want to keep it on the down low :P It will be available to everyone soon.

Price i'm not sure of yet but it should be considerably reasonable.

Serum 05.05.2005 10:06 AM

Interesting.!!

Have you got some pictures of the work in progress?

If i made one, i would make it also able to run with a 1 speed conversion as well (two halves, like the GPM/stock case)

Rcbros 05.05.2005 10:15 AM

I'm not personally making is so no pictures. I called last week to see the progress and it was 90% done.

Because of the fact i'm not really personally invovled I don't know much. Which is why i'm just kinda saying theres one in the making.

RC-Monster Mike 05.05.2005 02:31 PM

It should be available soon! Also, it has to be made in two halves or you wouldn't be able to get the gears in!

Serum 05.05.2005 02:35 PM

Yeah, i know..
I meant 4 parts, two halves and 2 plates that close the whole thing.

Dafni 05.06.2005 01:54 AM

The single speed conversion kit (G-Maxx) plus an alu half tranny case, both anod in the same color, would definitely rock.

Rcbros 05.06.2005 09:48 AM

Dafni i'm thinking the same thing

Serum 05.06.2005 10:25 AM

I found out how to anodize yourself.

Interested?

MaxxFusion 05.06.2005 11:35 AM

How?

Serum 05.06.2005 12:15 PM

Anodizing how-to

13-17% battery acid, mixed with demineralised water. take a lead plate as a - pole and a 12V power supply. and make the material – pole. Be sure no copper or other materials then the lead and the aluminium are touching the mixture. (use a plastic bowl)

Rule of thumb is to use 10.000A on one square meter in one minute for a proper result..
If you have got a 5A powersupply and you want to anodize 10X10cm (sorry for this metric sizes) you need 20 minutes of time.

Before you start it, you need to make the aluminium clean. I made the surface rough before the anodizing. (600 grid waterproof sandpaper)

After the anodize is finished, you need to seal the product in boiling demineralised water for 30 minutes. You can also add colour to the aluminium, simple by using dye, used for painting cloths. When you want to use a colour, you need to know that the water may not be boiling, You can play with the temperature, but you need to know that when it’s sealed it doesn’t take any colour anymore.

Please note, that you need to do this outside doors, it is very nasty on cotton and your eyes and skin. The accid can become hot when you are anodizing.

Battery acid? You mean hydrochloric acid?
Other than that, great tip, Serum. I'll give it a try here in my Lab.

Serum 05.09.2005 04:00 AM

H2SO4

Don't know the english name for it.

It's used in lead batteries

Dafni 05.09.2005 04:31 AM

H2SO4 aka Sulphuric acid. Nasty stuff indeed. Be carefull when you work with this liquid.
