e maxx ?
thinking of hv 4.5 for my gorillamaxx but just don't know. I would like to hit 40 mph with about a 30 minute run time.
The H.V. wont take you there. You need a highend combo if you wanna go 40mph for 30 minutes.
MambaMax, 8XL, and a minimum of 8000mah 4s lipos will be close to doing that... that's the cheapest combo that will do what you aks, imo.
any suggestions

BP-Revo has used the 6.5 and has recently switched to the 4.5 in a Revo, so he might be able to offer some input if you really want the HV. BTW: Welcome to the forums! |
add a UBEC or a RX pack to that combo.
i'm not stuck on the hv 4.5 i just want too run 40 or so for as long as i can i have the single speed rr slipper g maxx chaise lots of allum
Do you have upgraded diffs? You definately need to upgrade those to handle all that power.
yes what about bk instead of mm with 7xl
You may consider a higher voltage set up to. It will be easier on the whole
sytem to run 40 for 30 mins. Not sure on the money you looking to spend either. You could go with a 9920 5s lvc 8xl. neu or lehner motors for more money but cooler running. Some 8000 mah lipos are a good idea for this runtime. Welcome to the forum to. |
just looking for the easiest way that will be durable
Okay. How about a 1950/10 + MGM24160 ESC and x2 3s 7500mah FlightPower packs?
The sum would go over $900 easily. Pretty costy, but with no doubt, a killer combo! |

batteries already as well? What about tire size? The larger tires will be hard driveline in truck. Have you put any kind of diff upgrades in? The hv is not a bad set up. If you wire for a lvc and run the lipo 8000s on it. You won't be to bad. It don't have the power that the other systems do. Just it is less complicated. If you have a heavy truck you may want to stay with the 6.5 version. |
is the 9920 beter than the mm and why, also how good will it run with the8xl and peak 4800 lipos. Yes i upgraded the diffs
ok 540c xl 8xl w/mm sounds good w/what gears and what would i be looking at for speed and run times w/ peak 4800 lipo
looked at mm says it 's not for 10th scale monster trucks
Well the 9920 can take more cells if you choose. It can handle 6s and 20 cells.
The mm is better in others for it has better programming and runs more than a 2 pole motor. 8xl you can start at stock gearing and go up from there. |
check the rc calculator of BrianG.
with the runtimes you want to achieve, you need 8000mAh like glass suggested. |
where do i find the calculater
In Brians signature.

With the 8K packs that may be possible. One of these days I'll borrow MetalMan's GPS and get a speed on my G2R.
However, I've gotten about an hour bashing on my HV4.5 with my 8000mah Lipo's. I was actually out bashing with MetalMan and he ran his BL Revo, switched to his MT2 18SS, and my 8K's still weren't near dumping. At the track, I've gotten at least 40 minutes on my HV6.5 at race pace - so you should be able to do 30 minutes on the 4.5 no matter how you drive. My 4.5 was running at about 95*F (101* Max) all recorded with my Telemetry. My speeds were close to that of MetalMan's BL Revo (I think he's got a 7XL and is running 5S A123 Li-Ion). It was hard to tell - we were only at speed for a second before we would run out of space, and my slipper clutch was slipping all over the place and he had to roll on his throttle to prevent wheelies. The HV is a good setup, you just need to run a fan on the motor to help keep the temps down (its a high RPM, internally 380 sized motor), and solder on extra capacitors (I put on two extra for a total of three) - they really helped with throttle response and torque. If you want, check the GorillaMaxx forum and you will find my Revo threads. |
