Associated RC8 Buggy
I thought this was a pretty interesting find.
The new associated 1/8 scale buggy! http://rc10.com/shusting/CatalogHub/...rc8/kitrc8.htm I think this would make for a very interesting conversion! I may try it myself, but not anytime soon. What you guys think? |
Saw it on there website a couple days ago, but it does look really nice. All that black and blue look so nice together, lol. Hopefully this means tere is a chance of an electric 1/10 4wd buggy or st. That would be a really big hit. So many people are looking fro 4wd st's.
|
A 1/10 4wd ST would be sweet! I doubt it will happen anytime soon though.
I love the looks of this new rc8. Hopefully somtime in the future i will have one! :D |
not only the rc8 but the new tc5! a b5 or somethin would be nice...but i bet there going to make a truggy 1/8
|
Mike L- I was thinking the same thing. That is what all the companies seem to be doing now-a-days.
|
This buggy was based on the Kyosho 777sp2... I heard this right from the top brass at AE. They put their own stamp on it of course. I think it's pretty sweet.
I think I will be selling my 777 conversion to get one of these. I race AE 1/10 buggy and truck and it would be cool to do the 8 conversion. I'm not ready to sell anything yet but once I get to see this buggy mine is probably for sale. Anyone interested in a nice BL buggy with counted hours of work done to it? :) |
Pics? I doubt I'll buy it, since I am working on my bl buggy, but would liekt o see it anyway, lol. Or you cna PM some pics.
|
I thought I had some on here somewhere, lol. I guess I will go look for them, so you can see it one way or another. I'm kinda partial to my layout. :)
|
This looks like a good high voltage candidate with 4.3:1 front/rear ratios...
|
I dont think they will make a truggy yet, or anytime soon atleast.
This buggy looks to be one of favourites! Cant wait to see how it does on the track. |
now-a-days everything is mostly baised on 1/8th

Don't really need that ratio with the relative small tires.
|
Yeah, it could actually be a bad thing. With 2000 kv motors and 4s Lipo, you might need a 16t pinion with the 46t spur and 3.31:1 diffs, but with the 4.3:1 diffs you would need a larger pinion gear, maybe even one larger than 20t.

Anyone thinking about getting one of these yet?
Sounds like it will be a little while before they are out. |
Ive got some thoughts on one, still thinking though, hmm, crawler... mini.. on road.. too many choices!
|
If I were to get a buggy, I would get the new X-Ray XB8EC or a Mugen MBX5 Pro-Spec.
|
Pricey, i was thinking of the mugens for a while now. I wonder the price tag on the RC8.
|
Was wondering the same. Because if it is cheaper than most other buggies, then it will definately be a huge hit.
|
Yea, it isnt a bad buggy from the looks of it, if its under 400 it will be a pretty good price.
|
I'm drooling over the new TC5 - I love the chassis design - but I'd actually prefer the good 'ole shaft drive.
I was orignally going to get a TC4, but the TC5 looks (and probably is) so much narrower - I'm estimating at least 1/4 inch narrower. I've been scanning eBay and such for a TC4 (I want a factory one :D ), but I may just get a TC5. It depends...if I can get a TC4 for cheap, then thats fine, but if not, I might as well get the 5. I'm super low on funds right now...but I REALLY want a touring car...so I'm in a huge dilemma. |
Good thing there's mine :D.

:020: pre-build :020:
so i ask someone that might know some things more then us mere mortals if he knows about the truggy. whonder what answer i'll get. pro's bout the rc8: metric hardware. long treaded shocks. light weight. nylock wheelnuts. captured hinge pins. captured wheel cvds pins. pretty much the normal lay-out, easier to convert. pricing. brand reputation. con's 4.3 diff might give gearing issue with the usual set-ups of these days. delayed, delayed, delayed again. not exactly "on top of the industry" IMO ( good cars but the like's of mugen, xray, kyosho is even better for something the same pricing.) |
I don't know about this newer AE buggy. Since they got bought out by Thunder Tiger, many are speculating that the RC8 is going to borrow a lot from the TT buggies and won't be as "new" as everyone thinks.
I suppose that we'll just have to wait and see. |
