My rides: GD

I didn't want to post pics in other threads, so I thought I would start a thread whre I can post pics and stuff of my junk so it's not scattered all over the forum.

Maybe others can do the same... have a thread with pics etc to refer when asked about your cars.

Anyway... here's what is I guess is the only pic of my 777 on the forum. I thought there was more.. I will get some more soon.

see if this works.... it's a pic showing the new 8ight and the 777 too....
http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/atta...6&d=1159129155

can you repost a pic that has already been uploaded to the forum?

glassdoctor 02.04.2007 04:15 AM

here's a pic of the motor mount with cool little gadget that locks the gear mesh... prevents the motor from slipping down against the diff.

New misc pics: Emaxx that hasn't been run in years... but I'm looking to get it going again. I think I did this chassis before there was any good aftermarket chassis. It's not pretty but is worked. :005:

Top plate is some carbon fiber... motor mount... cheapo aluminum angle, all hacked up. I kept changing it. hee hee

Some pics of old emaxx before the diamond plate.... I made a chassis from plastic expanded PVC material, very light and stiff but cracked after some running. Pretty funny stuff... I liked it but it wasn't tough enough. :028:

Looks good.

Now you know how i felt! :p

glassdoctor 02.05.2007 09:57 PM

Video! :)

Here's an old video from the first test of my 777 conversion. All I had then was a Hacker controller and a Feigao 8L... and a Hacker C50 emaxx motor.

Ran it on 9 cells... then jumped to 12 later before getting soem lipos for it, and a different motor and layout too. I have no idea how fast it was but as you can see I couldn't get it up to speed.. maybe hit 20 in the street?

The rest is history.

I hope to shoot some fresh video sometime but right now it's 0*

I have a killer plan to do a huge x games style jump at a local parking lot this week but we'll see....

jnev 02.05.2007 10:08 PM

Looks very nice. Still waiting for the video, lol.

glassdoctor 02.05.2007 10:25 PM

finally got the vid... it was very slick... snow on top of ice, lol. So I just ran it WOT for kicks, spraying snow. It's all white so the contrast can be bad... if it's all white, you can turn the monitor brightness down to see better.

Man I want some high speed video now.

jnev 02.05.2007 10:30 PM

Nice video. It looks so much fun driving in snow. I have seen a picture CHC gave me of a 1/8 buggy with paddles but can't seem to find the tires anywhere. They would work awesome in snow.

Yeah GD, Its REALLY cold in CR. It was like -30* with windchill this morning. We had a 2 hr delay for the 1st time this year!

Fresh pics.. nothing special but I swapped out motors in my stuff to make them play nice with the escs.

In other words, I separated the Neu from the Mamba, LOL...

And now both buggies are alive, only got pics of the 8ight which now has the Hacker C50 12L "thing":

Sylvester 02.06.2007 10:05 AM

Lookin' good! BTW, nice avatar! LOL!

glassdoctor 02.08.2007 01:39 AM

new avatar ;) this is the car I wanted back in the day... I had the original Ultima and i thought the Optima was sweet but I never got one.

OK... I got some video... uploaded a 1 minute sneak peak at youtube.

I didn't have anyone to run the camera... ;( but still got some shots. More later tonight if I can get back at it.

what do you think? I plugged the forums here too :)

Lookin' awesome!! :004:

glassdoctor 02.08.2007 02:49 AM

Longer video will be live in a few minutes. It's almost 5 minutes long... 12MB.

The raw footage was only 7 minutes... it was kinda cold so I didn't waste any time, LOL

No damage to the truck but I did lose a body clip and a nut on a steering arm. I'll take that...

There.... that's all I got for now. But I hope to get more and better video soon.

Procharged5.0 02.08.2007 12:32 PM

Great to see the pics GD!

glassdoctor 02.08.2007 12:45 PM

Oh... check out the monster fan over the motor/esc. That's why I stuck the esc there, so I could get two birds with one stone. The fan moves a lot of air. I ran this setup for over 30 minutes nonstop at the track in 90* heat and both motor/esc stayed around 150-160ish the whole time. It actually was a few degrees cooler right at the end than it was at one point earlier in the run.

Procharged5.0 02.08.2007 12:50 PM

GD,

What settings did you use on the Mamba with the NEU???

glassdoctor 02.08.2007 02:08 PM

I have the MM all wrapped up (waterproofed) right now...

I don't remember the settings for sure... I'll post them when I get a chance to hook it up.

Procharged5.0 02.08.2007 02:19 PM

I'd appreciate that. I might have you email them to me if you don't mind.....

wallot 02.08.2007 02:36 PM

Have to put everything together but the powerplant is mounted

http://www.radeks.net/?p=41&lang_view=en

Neu 1512/2.5D with Quark 125B

Serum 02.08.2007 02:42 PM

Wallot; those batteries won't give your setup the power it needs. Please clean up the wiring!! if anything gets stuck in the gears, you'll rip wires!

the top heatsink on the quark isn't really needed, the fetts are sitting on the bottom, so that's where it's needed.

You got a nice setup on your truck!! Nice...

glassdoctor 02.08.2007 03:01 PM

If you watch a few seconds into the video you will notice it cogging... did it several times.

But the settings on the MM:
brake:30%
drag:20%
Punch: 50%
Start: medium
Timing: low
cutoff: 12v

Nothing I have tried has fixed the cogging.

Dafni 02.08.2007 06:50 PM

Nice conversion, Glassdoc! I like it.

I hope a MM software update will remove your cogging soon.
