FLM Tmaxx .21 chassis

I finally got my FLM chassis..... Thanks Mike for taking good care of me.... the wait was well worth it.

I was looking at the pics on here and my chassis and it is different.... my chassis says ICE on it. Is FLM doing their chassis different... or is it an upgrade?

Here's the pics.

WOW nice chassis i did not know they maid a tmaxx chassis (i can not find that chassis anywhere where do you get it )

GorillaMaxx360 03.17.2007 11:13 AM

Well i knew they made one but not like that

nis720 03.17.2007 01:23 PM

I ordered it from here (Mike).... it took alittle longer coming from FLM but it looks really good.... I'm not sure if this is their new design or if it's an upgrade for the extra wait.... either way I'm really happy with the way it looks.

nis720 03.17.2007 01:46 PM

I found the 3.3 tranny doesn't just drop in... the sides are alittle thicker on the 3.3.... nothing a dremel can't fix.

Mike.L 03.17.2007 09:11 PM

Thats a shinny flm chassis and will surve it's purpose well!

nis720 03.19.2007 01:39 AM

I got the bulks and tranny bolted on.... but not after some shaving.... I used a knife and file (I don't have the steady hand for a dremel)..... mostly the tranny..... shaved the edges down and filed them for a snug fit. The bulks also needed some shaving to fit in the pockets on the chassis.

Looking better! please get a pic of it totaly finished!

jnev 03.19.2007 09:03 PM

Looking good. Can't wait to see the finished product.

nis720 03.20.2007 01:38 AM

As of now.... I'm just waiting on parts to come in.

I got Integy aluminum Diff cases (for now.... eventually I will do hybrid combo bulks) FLM of coarse..... and the Integy Case/FLM Diff Cups will go in my other Tmaxx, with the O.S. 18TM.

nis720 03.25.2007 01:11 AM

I got some parts in.... here's my progress.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001908a.jpg

nis720 03.25.2007 01:18 AM

I had some issues with the FLM diff cups not seating properly on the gear (there was some binding). Had to take them apart a few times before I got them to work. The extended driveshaft for the FLM chassis pits perfect and looks really strong.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001910a.jpg

nis720 03.25.2007 01:21 AM

One more issue I ran into (and haven't been able to fix) is the steering center link hitting the Integy diff colar.

Anyone running Integy Colars have the same issue? Do I have to File the colar?

GorillaMaxx360 03.25.2007 10:01 AM

option a - either grind of some of the link but that would make it week.
option b - put the steering conector(part that is rubbing) on the bottom of where it is right now. -(i am falling in love with this tmaxx it is the coolest one IMO because it has the right amount of metal and black and gray chrome

nis720 03.26.2007 09:57 PM

Here's the progress so far..... I think I'm going to have to do FLM shock towers.... and FLM bulkhead braces.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001923a.jpg

I haven't resolved the Integy Diff Collar issue:031: I'm too lazy to take it all apart again.

jnev 03.26.2007 11:58 PM

It is looking awesome. Can't wait to see it finshed.

Cool background on your computer as well.

squeeforever 03.27.2007 12:26 AM

That's the intake for my other project.... my 86' Nissan truck fully shaved.

The T-Maxx project is looking good!

I'd file the botom of the collar lightly as a backup idea. The first thing to do is move the drag link to the bottom. I expect it will clear the collar then.

nis720 04.06.2007 02:03 AM

Here's what I did about the front diff collar... now it clears the linkage.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001931a.jpg

I also had to cut the crank to clear the 3.3 tranny case.... I'm using the svage flywheel, clutch and bell.

nis720 04.06.2007 02:15 AM

Here's an overall view of more progress.

very nice

nis720 04.07.2007 06:24 PM

I was bored and wanted to see how a body would fit on it.... LOL

This is off one of my other tmaxx's

jnev 04.07.2007 11:34 PM

Turned out awesome!! So do you need any more things to do on this t-maxx? I think it looks great.:027:

nis720 04.17.2007 11:29 AM

I just ordered FLM Bulkhead braces and one FLM shock Tower (I'm on a budget right now). Plan on getting a Hitech 645MG for steering.

I'm still looking for a pipe that will fit nicely on this truck... I have a Jammin pipe from a 1/8 scale buggy but it's too long.

Procharged5.0 04.17.2007 11:44 AM

Looking good!

squeeforever 04.17.2007 09:57 PM

Perhaps the new Resonator pipe will work?

Knowing you Nis, when will you polish up your FLM pieces?

Haven't even used it yet... maybe after the first use I'll consider some polish and powder coating.:005:

Here's another shiny thing on my truck.... one more to go.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001992a.jpg

nis720 05.14.2007 10:17 PM

Due to some unexpected expenses :005: my completion date for this truck has been extended.:007:

I couldn't pass up this deal.... an aluminum axle for my quad.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001993a.jpg

How ever before that i was able to order a mugen wing to go with my FLM shock tower.

The maxx is just looking killer!!

Any pictures of your quad?

nis720 05.14.2007 10:50 PM

This is the last good pic I've taken of it... not much different. 04' YFZ450.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001749a.jpg

I'm planning on running this pipe pretty soon.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../IM001828a.jpg

Procharged5.0 05.15.2007 10:48 AM

Both the maxx and the quad look pretty damn amazing!

Very Nice!

jnev 05.15.2007 11:16 PM

That's actually Dumont (Thanksgiving weekend).

Made some progress on the quad last week.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850013a.jpg

Also got the Tmaxx out in the sunlight.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850018a.jpg

nis720 06.12.2007 09:33 PM

Didn't have plans to buy anything on the Tmaxx at this time... but Tower sent my a coupon to get $20 off my next $50 purchase.

So I got my steering servo (HS 645MG) and some other little things... all for $35 shipped.:027:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850059a.jpg

Up until now I haven't got a clear cut answer on what is needed for the Mugen wing to fit on the FLM shock Towers. I ordered these to see if they would work for the upper mounts.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXTW50

Drilled the FLM towers with a 1/8 bit.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850063a.jpg

I'll have more pics later.

nis720 06.16.2007 09:18 PM

Here's pic of the Mugen wing properly mounted on the FLM shock towers.... the Duratrax screws were the perfect length.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850065a.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../SS850066a.jpg

Also sorted out the throttle using the Ofna throttle parts.
