FL racers

This is mainly for racers that live in FL, but anyone is welcome to add to the thread. I'm friends with the committie members of the Florida state series (FSORS) http://saranetserve.com/fsorsforum/index.php . I'm trying to get a BL class started for next year us people that race BL 1/8 buggy or 1/8 truggy or BL MT revo - lst2 - mgt or savage. My ideas for class rules is very simple & are as follows.

1- only 1 motor any size or wind senserd or un senserd
2- any battery up to 5s lipo or 16 cells. 5s is the limit or 16 cells is the limit
3- any vechile that falls under my list above
4- There would be 2classes BL 1/8 buggy or or BL MT
5- 7 min quals & 10 or 15 min mains

I would like to know from my fellow floridians how many of you would be interested in this ?. Anyone with ideas on rules or anything is welcome to respond on this site .

If you live in FL & are interested in this class here is thethread i started on ther web site http://saranetserve.com/fsorsforum/viewtopic.php?t=465

Im also asking only people that live in FL to respond to the thread i started on there site, so they can get a idea of how many people are interested. Thank you

I don't live in Florida, but this is a very good idea. Although, I do think that 1 class would be unfair to some. I really don't think an MT can keep up with a 1/8 buggy. Maybe just have 2 classes, with less people in each class.

I live in Orlando. I would probably build up a truck for this if there were any off-road tracks close. The closest is the Daytona track and thats about 1 1/2 hours away.

I didn't realize that there were any other folks on this forum from Orlando. I'm in Orlando also.

I would probably be interested in racing in a BL truggy class. I don't know how happy I'd be with a drive that long to go racing though. If I could get a couple of other folks here interested in it, it might be worth a trip every once in a while to do it.

Here is mine:

Thanks to Monster.com and Mike my conversion has been a great success!

DickyT 03.27.2007 09:10 AM

I am not a racer, just a basher, but that sounds like a great idea. As a south Florida resident, if I were to ever get into racing I think those classes would be fun.

Love the initiative here Hippie! If you can get it going in FL then maybe it will help catch on in other places! Great jog. Keep it up.

I'm not a FL resident. But heres a picture of my Cen Matrix 1/8 Buggy I converted you can use as an example.

Like and afford are two different things. I don;t think my wife will let me build a $1000'ish BL race beast this year. I've already spent close to that building up my bash maxx....maybe next year ;)

Rcaddict 03.27.2007 01:57 PM

I plan to be there Sunday for the FSORS race and will bring the MBX-5.

Hopefully ROAR will lift it's lipo ban next year and we can get a class started. I can run Nimh's, but it just doesn't perform like it does on lithium and can only go about 7 minutes. I've raced at several non-ROAR club races and haven't had any resistence to running lipo.
The only problems I've had is with turn marshals thinking that my buggy has flamed out.:032:
It's always funny to see the look on their face when it takes off again after they set it to the side.:005:

Cool & i know what you mean about the turn marshells. I was at at race & my EVO flipped over . Then the turn marshell picked it up & started across the track. I let him get half way across the track then i pulled the trigger & he jumped, it was so funny :005: .
I use 14 NIMH cells. I sold my 7XL & bought a 1940 8T from mike hopefully it will be here by the race.

First off Jeff WELCOME to RC-MONSTER.

I'm from just outside orlando, winter springs to be exact. What kind of BL vechile do you have ?. So far it looks like BL 1/8 buggy might be the easyest class to get started in my opinion. If you would like to join me in helping start this class please respond to the link i posted in my first post & continue responding here as well.

Why does your information say Largo if you live in Winter Springs? My wife and I have some friends in Winter Springs in the Tuscawilla area.

Yep, we need to. I need to call them about it and see what's up with it. I'm hoping to have my Maxx and one of my LSP-R's up and going in the next couple of weeks, so maybe mid-late next month we can go spend a few hours at the track there if it's open.

Just to bump this to the top...

There is a new track in Orlando, only open for practice now, but should be racing by the summer. I'm planning on going with another friend this next Tues to try it out.

The 17th? What time?

seth556 04.16.2007 04:19 PM

All day. I was just at superior talking to them about the track. Sounds great. They will start racing as soon as they have a good sized racer base (when more people here about them). As of this second I would be racing my xxx-t but I hope to sell that and my tt-01 and build a BL Lightning PRO that would race in the nitro class. I sure hope they'll let the BL guys race in the nitro class. But if they don't I guess I'll go nitro.

I don't plan to race unless they have a class that allows brushless and Lipo, whether it's 10th scale stadium or 1/8th with the nitros. However, if they do run a mod ST class allowing BL/Lipo, I'll buy a T4 just to race. If they allow BL/Lipo truggies, I'd run one of my BL LSP-R's. Otherwise, I refuse to invest $ into something to take me backwards in technology and I'll just go on practice days to run.

My friend and I are planning to show up around 5PM. I'm bringing my T3 and he'll have a MM 5700 powered T4. Next time I hope to have my Maxx and one of my LSP-R's out there, but I ran out of time this weekend to work on them.

skellyo 04.17.2007 12:51 PM

Just read that the track is closed today for work on it, so I guess it'll be next week before I make it out there.

seth556 04.17.2007 09:02 PM

Wait it opens at 3:00. I'm thinking I might go Thursday with my xxx-t and rusty. I think a BL/Li-po 1/10 class would be great. I would race my xxx-t. It's a huge track as well. According to their website they have a pee-wee and advanced track. From the pictures I just saw one track though. It was very big for rc so bl would be fantastic.

skellyo 04.17.2007 09:39 PM

Any interest in going out there next Tuesday Seth? I can't make it this Thursday, but I'm sure I could Tuesday next week. My other friend will be out of town on travel for work, so I'll be heading out there by myself more than likely. It'd be nice to have someone else to race around with.

seth556 04.17.2007 09:44 PM

Sorry I can't. I have to help out with the state track meets. All 4 are at my high schools track. Tuesday, Wenesday, Thursday, and Friday. Maybe the week after.

skellyo 04.17.2007 09:56 PM

I can probably handle that. My friend from work will probably be able to head out there then too.

rchippie 04.17.2007 10:11 PM

Skellyo please post a couple pics of the track if you can, when you go .

Sorry bud, I've been innundated with work lately. Would like to make an attempt next Tuesday if'n you're up for it. That will give me some time to get the cars running again.

No progress on the LSP either! Aak!

Yep, I should be up for next Tuesday. I'm hoping to get my Maxx and an LSP up and running this weekend if possible. If nothing else, one or the other. Drop me an e-mail or call me before Monday so I can plan when we want to head out there Tuesday.

seth556 04.19.2007 03:43 PM

I'm heading out there today, hope the truck doesn't break that early into it. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for yall.

seth556 04.19.2007 07:06 PM

Made it out there, the directions on the sheet are easy to follow. Nice place, they have a big water skiing park. They have a big track for MX and then a smaller one that doubles for the R/C. $10 gets you unlimited R/C running. Just sign the waver.

It's a nice track (other than it wasn't watered down, then when I was leaving they decided to water it). So it was a bit dusty for me. There was another guy with a xxx-t. Ran into problems early with an axle pin but made a new one with a body clip. The li-po gave me lots of run time. I didn't have to recharge it and I ran for almost an hour. I ended up loosing a nut to one of the ball studs on the bellcranks. But it was fun. Tore the rest of the body up, and the front tires are now all gone.

The track is a nice size. But it gets a bit narrow in some of the middle sections. Should be great for MT's as well.

I got some pictures for you guys.

Thanks for the pics Seth. Seeing that makes me glad I bought bowties for my T3 versus Holeshots. If all goes well, I should be able to get some video of the track on Tuesday when I go out there *fingers crossed*.

Those are exactly what I bought last weekend for my T3.

Got them today. For some reason my dad was in a very happy mood and decided to give $60 to the kind people at the LHS. Also rebuilt my shocks. They are much smoother now.
