Ok... I uploaded a video to youtube... waiting on it to come live....

Last night I took an old Losi XXcr buggy and strapped in a MM4600 system and my 5000mah 4s pack. :027:

First test was in the driveway... got it crawling then gave it a quick full throttle to see what it would do.... the tires just about exploded, with a nice fluttering propeller sound :005:

Ran it a couple times up the street in front of my house this morning.

First pass... got 45mph and flipped going from about half throttle to full...

Second pass... hit 52mph with the same results... wheelie then came down then wheelie then crash.

So I grabbed my camcorder and went to an empty open street. It's very windy today...like 20mph and gusts over 40 I think. The place I ran it was mostly a tail wind but partly a cross wind which pushed the car around a lot.

I only got one full throttle pass... short crappy video clip will be up soon.

But I have to say I need to get out and do it again to see if this is right... and do it without the wind. I admit I drove there with the GPS on, and I forgot to check/reset the GPS... but I'm sure I wasn't doing 68mph in the car (45mph zone) but I did pass a guy so maybe I got close to 60's.... :005:

Yes, it IS quite windy today. If the kids leave anything outside in the yard, it's all most likely in the neighbors yard, or simply gone. Fine by me, they have too much crap anyway. :)

Anyway, how did the 4600/ESC fare after that run (temp-wise)?

Yeah... tailwind... :) actually the wind was coming from about "7-8 oclock" or like 220* is a better term hee hee

It was just a quick run... getting warm barely.

I think I tripped a failsafe of some kind once... esc stopped and had a beeping tone until I unplugged it. Maybe overcurrent??? It did that when the car came down from a wheelie at speed, and I grabbed full throttle again while doing about 40...

Overcurrent would be hard to believe as a lot of people here run much hotter motors. Not to mention that I don't thing the ESC contains a method to measure current. When I took it apart, I did not see any current-sense resistors or inductors. It's probably an over-rev condition. Revving a 4600 at 4s is over 68,000 rpm! Until now, I wondered why you had so many bad ESC's - now I know! ;)

Ha ha... this is the most "crazy" I have been with them. One was being raced in a 1/10 buggy on a normal 6 cell pack and geared for a small track.

The other two I think were killed by cogging while playing on the track....

Does anyone know what else might cause the MM to "disable" itself and have to be reset? I have never seen this before... maybe it's in the manual... hmmm...

I know, I was just giving you a bit of a hard time. :)

The only other thing I can think of (other than a rev limiter) is that the LVC is kicking in because those two factors are the only things that are easily measured with simple voltage levels...

I need to put the eagletree on this... never even thought about that earlier....

I bought my domains from godaddy not long ago... you like them for the host??? I might do that. I've been putting it off for years, lol....

So far, so good. I've had it about 3 months now and have no complaints. I even got a call from them after I set up the hosting account to make sure I didn't need any help or have any questions. I was quite impressed by that.

I actually use 1&1. I think I pay like $5-$6 per month. Not sure what the bandwidth/file storage limits are, but I barely register on the bargraph meter thing they have - and that includes my old personal site, javascript site, the R/C Calcs site, and the various forum pics I put there.

I'm working on putting up new versions. I uploaded the early edits... not the finished ones. Using windows movie maker and it apparently did not save the new copies when I clicked it... hmmm... it's acting stupid. Oh well... I worked around it and now I'm getting them updated...

When I was running my T4 with the 7700 on 3S, the esc would shut down, it turned out that it was thermalling, although it didn't feel that hot to me. That's what Castle told me anyway. The MM has no current or rpm limiter built in.

As for the wing, I just used the left over lexan from when I did a new body. It actually worked pretty well. You got some pretty good runs there. The only documented speed I have on my T4 is 62 mph. Most other runs were scrapped due to lack of control or crashing. It's hard to control when the tires balloon like that.

Yeah... the kids thought it was funny stuff...

I got the xx buggy fixed up homemade style so it's good to go for another test when I get a chance. It had a broken rear chassis t-plate and tranny case tabs were snapped off. Also it ruined the spur gear... tweaked the motor plate... and scrped the crap out of the top of the car (shocks, nuts, towers, wing) and I had to pop the steering rack back in place (teeth skip somewhere in there)

other than that it was all good :)

Hey... just thought I would mention the battery straps I used in the car... I got them recently from Tanic for $1.99 a pair (clearance I think) They have all kinds of sizes... I just got these to see what they would be like.

Now I would like to get a few more in other sizes. Mine are a bit skinny, but they are one of hte smaller sizes too. Maybe the larger ones are wider...

They also have misc. servo plug/wires at great prices... that's what I ordered before.

Ok... I just ran the car again, with street tires that are a little bit smaller diameter than the slicks. I put a little lexan scoop on the front to help keep it on all fours... no flying this time.

Max speed 74mph on the first pass... fresh battery and cool electrics :D

Also backed it up with runs into the wind of 66.6 and with wind of 68.4

Now I need to gear up some more and try again!
