Other CF Suppliers?
I just went to Graphite Elegance and saw they're out on vacation until June. :002:
Anyway, do any of you know of another good supplier for CF? I'm looking for some 2" strips for a battery tray. Thanks guys. |
|
dragon plate never replied to any of the two or three emails I've sent them, so they get my middle finger to be honest..

Any other options Serum? I sure wish Graphite Elegance wasn't down for so long. I love the CF angle I got from them. |
I don't know another source for CF angle..
Till june.. Holy cow.. that's one long vacation.. |
Exactly, I couldn't believe it.
How about a source for 2" wide strips that are about 1/8" thick? I don't need any more angle right now. |
I remember they where closed last year too. and it took another month before the 'vacation' status was gone from their site..
|
Just get some from Ebay. Make sure its not some crap with graphite in the center though. Some of it is graphite with a layer of CF on both sides so it looks like CF.
|
I was just looking there today too. Junes a long way off. Freakin crazy long vacation. If anyone knows of someplace else to get the CF angles I would be interested as well.
June...:019: Jeeez...:031: #@!#@^&#@@#!!! |
Ebay...
|
I dont see any CF angle stock on ebay. Maybee I'm not searhing properly. Got a link Squee?
|
I'll see what I can find. What width? How thick? How long?
|
Ideal would be 2x2 angle stock around .062 thick.
But I could work with any angle at least 1X1 and .050 or thicker up to .093 or so. |
I couldn't seem to find any...Odd. I saw some just the other day...
|
Well, you could always check out with the Monster, you know.
|
Thanks for checkin Squee. At least I know I'm not crazy. I think its the guy at Graphiteelegance.com that list the CF angels on Ebay.
Cap, I think thats about the only thing that Mike doesn't have. |
Hi,
Oh dear, I have just stumbled onto this thread. I am about to look for someone to do some custom fabrication for a top plate for my upcoming buggy conversion. Dare I ask if anyone know of someone who can do this ? Regards, Joe Ling |
What do you need done on the plate? angles or forms? check my current project on my signature, it's fair easy to work on CF.
|
You guys should check out DA Graphite www.dagraphite.com
I've been ordering from them since the '80s. Very good quality quasi-isotropic flat sheets. I'm not sure if he can do angles or not. Well right angles at least. He does have forms for 30 and 20 degree kick ups. I'm sure he could form it off some aluminum angle, but that stuff is never perfectly 90. He also does custom fab from a sample piece. He supplies some other aftermarket companies with their stuff. |
hows their priceing?
|
yeah, there are no prices on their site. Only a link to towers, but no dagraphite on towers either.
|
I'm already trading emails with them. Looks like they only do flat sheet. When I requested a 1.5inchx 1.5inch x 3ft x .060inch thick carbon fiber angle, they responded with
"I have a 9"x12"x1.5mm panel in our 3K or 1K woven material." I tried again, this time with a picture. We'll see. I hope they can. The only other place I found that can do it is a 2 week wait and the smallest piece I can buy is a 6 foot long section at $120. Dont need that much or want to spend that much. Graphiteelegance lets me buy in 1 foot increments. Just what I need. |
Their prices won't come close to graphite elegance's. It was merely an alternative to waiting 'til June.
I know they will do custom layups and angles if you get Dave directly and workout formwork with him. They are limited to size by their oven, but I don't remember what the limit was. They sell on E-bay under the name Graphite-girl (his wife). |
Why not make your own angle stock if you can't find what you need ?? Some cf cloth ,finishing epoxy,a form and some cling wrap is all you need.
hope this helps Steve |

Hi Serum,

My craft skills are near non-existant whereas you're at master craftsman level. So, I am destined to have to look around for someone to help. BTW, your project looks very good & well thought out. Battery in the center is the way to go in my opinion. Battery too far away from the centerline of the vehicle affects handling. That's what I am experiencing now with my buggy. On the straight in terms of speed & acceleration - it outruns everyone easily. However, in the corners for some reason it is just not so comfortable. Even, the nitro with their constant on-off throttle to feed on the power band can out handle my e-buggy. Regards, Joe Ling |
There is a company here in Holland that has got a CNC jet, and they sell CF as well. I know with a CAD drawing they can makes your upperplate.

Hi Serum,
Thanks for that. Could u perhaps provide an email address of the company so that I can contact them ? Regards, Joe Ling |
