Team Tekin's New 8IGHTs!

2 Attachment(s)
Just finished both the Buggy and Truggy today, thanks for the conversion kit Mike, very nice and easy to install! Me Likey!

Painted both a very easy scheme, made the stickers in house (except the 8IGHT ones.) These won't be the last 8IGHTS in the fleet, I can assure you that :D

Look out Nitro burners, we're coming for ya!

Sower 08.31.2007 07:26 PM

Nice work Ty - those both look awesome! So . . . when should we see them running your new system? And when will you be bringing them down to Boise for me to check out first hand? It would be sweet to have more than one brushless truggy running at the track! Keep up the great work!!

gixxer 08.31.2007 07:28 PM

this is great to see. I actually posted the link to your posts from rctech in the tekin forum. nice 8's too, now hopefully this will mean the esc's will be coming soon.

entjoles 08.31.2007 08:28 PM

great news , good luck with testing

captain harlock 08.31.2007 11:32 PM

My!!! Does this mean the R1MT is in it's final stages of testing?

Serum 09.01.2007 02:26 AM

Time to test your new 6S controller WINKWINK

Looking good !

Sexy battery trays...!!

Electric Dave 09.01.2007 08:28 AM

Glad to see them...how about you bring them to RC Monster's Bash race on September 15th? Then come down to GM Xtreme on Sunday the 16th for the Battery Blast race...lets get some real world testing on those puppies...

jnev 09.01.2007 12:19 PM

Cars look awesome. Have you tested them out yet? How did the new system do?  =)

rschoi_75 09.01.2007 12:46 PM

agreed. sick looking rides. I can't wait to see the final results

teamtekin 09.02.2007 11:59 PM

I have about 4 hrs of run time on the Truggy with no issues other than the normal shakedown of a new car. Awesome!

4s 4800, w/Nue 1515 1Y, geared 15/48. "Rx8" proto ESC ( what do you think instead of R1mt? The Guys made a great logo and it makes more sense.)

We are working on a pro level 1/8 BL system including motor. No time line for release yet. For now we are just showing off our new rides.... and learning exactly what it takes to get it done.

Sower, we are planning to run the Truggy and Buggy at the CDB trophy race. in Boise. We will also be running the R1 and redline motors in the 1/10 classes.

glassdoctor 09.03.2007 12:13 AM

Hey Prez... I just ran our trophy race this weekend with a similar setup... the "original" brushless 8ight :D LOL

I had a great time... I ran really good, and the car worked pretty well with only minor issues. I qualified 3rd in pro buggy which is very good for me with the group of racers there. It was some tight intense racing! I tried to get footage of the mains but my camcorder was dead.

I can't wait to see what you have!! I have one small bit of advice.... ha ha... secure your battery/esc connectors with tape or a zip tie, so they don't leave you with a "flame out" in the middle of the A main. Don't ask how I came up with that tip.... LOL.

TY@TEAMTEKIN 09.03.2007 11:46 AM

Funny you meantion flameout glassdoctor, when the prez was running with he nitro burners at the track he stopped off to the side to adjust his brakes and the track marshal picked up the car thinking it had flamed out, LOL!

captain harlock 09.03.2007 12:32 PM

Hey, Prez, I think Rx8 does seem better than R1MT.

jnev 09.03.2007 01:40 PM

Rx8..... can someone enlighten me with some info? =)

Nice - that's this coming weekend isn't it? I'd have my truggy running too if I had a speed control. I'll have to come down and check it out!

BrianG 09.03.2007 10:55 PM

Rx8 simply reminds me of the Mazda Rx8...

Yeah... that kinda happened to me twice in the 20 min main yesterday. Once I was in a wreck and the guy grabbed my car and started off the track with it. Also I came in for a "pit" and another guy started to do the same thing...

captain harlock 09.04.2007 03:00 AM

Instead of calling it R1MT( Monster Truck exclusive), Rx8 is more generalized for all 8th scale rigs which need hi-voltage and currents.

We need to have some decals made that say "Just flip me over - I'm ELECTRIC!" and put them on the bottom of the chassis.

TY@TEAMTEKIN 09.04.2007 11:18 AM

LOL, you think people would be a little bit more observant and see that there is no stinger nor a cooling head! haha

So you guys think RX8 is better, that's exactly what I though, plus the sticker we made looks sick! We came up with changing the R1MT to the RX and the 1/8 controller the RX8.

You forget one thing, Smokers can't read. I'm not saying all can't, but look at all who don't follow the breakin instructions and go bash with a brand New truck, and break the engine

BrianG 09.04.2007 12:50 PM

If someone starts walking over with the intent to flip it, I just goose the throttle a little. The fact that there is tire movement with no mosquite-on-steroids sound should clue in all but the most braindead nitro users. : )

mach1stang 09.04.2007 03:04 PM

haha thats funny BrianG, they would either figure it out or get freaked out.

I printed up some stickers for my 1/8th buggy

aidz 09.09.2007 08:16 AM

Nice setup, running very similar gear to my 8ight buggy but what are those battery trays I want one :) are they a custom job?

Electric Dave 09.09.2007 10:10 AM

Very glad there is progress being made...regarding the name, when I see "RX" I think it's a receiver. Perhaps just "R8" or "R/8" or "R8 Pro". This way it's consistent with your 1/10th "R1" series controllers.

Either way, the name doesn't matter to me, all that matters is that I want to buy one soon...

One tray is from the RCMonster Kit on the other is from Dan's EL8 Kit.

captain harlock 09.10.2007 12:59 PM

Are you going to let us see the controller anytime, soon?

If you want to use RX8, make sure you do your legal homework. Carmakers are protective of their names, and Mazda might have the name trademarked.

BrianG 09.10.2007 01:48 PM

It would be really neat if TeamTekin made an ESC called the Rx8 that would be used in a Mazda Rx8 conversion.

gixxer 09.10.2007 09:29 PM

now that sounds like one of the controllers lutach is working on :)

2FastSS4U 09.10.2007 09:46 PM

I second that about doing the legal homework on the name "rx8", it would be a shame to release the ESC and instantly have to take it back off due to name advertising problems. And I also think of receiver when I see rx, just my .02 cents though. I like R8 Pro & R8MT.

Sower, nice to see someone else on here from the Boise area. I am in Kuna, I currently have a 8XL powered E-Maxx but am working on an Ofna 1/8 Buggy conversion. Never been to any of the races but often thought about checking them out!

TY@TEAMTEKIN 09.11.2007 10:34 AM

We'll check up on the legal names, but I don't think it will matter because a brushless controller has nothing to do with 1/1 car.

I'm still going to check though. :intello:

captain harlock 09.11.2007 10:36 AM

How about you give us some input on the esc?

How did it perform in your truck and buggy?

Any specs?

Right on - that's great! You should definitely stop by the Boise track. PM me if you would like directions.

For anyone else . . . check this link for some photos of Tekin's action at the track this weekend:

What do you mean by just Mike?

gixxer 09.12.2007 09:52 AM

He listed that because tekin has one conversion kit from mike and one from dan at rc product designs.

And Tekin actually has components from both Mike at RC Monster and from RC Prodcut Designs in both vehicles. They mixed and matched our components to get the configuration they needed.
