Well, recently I have been in over my head researching brushless maxx's, revo conversions, twin force rollers and everything that it takes to make one interesting rig. I stumbled upon a real steal of a deal, and I'm wondering whether or not you all think that I should get the rig.

It's a savage SS, converted to electric with the follwoing upgrades
-Supermaxx Shocks
-Nova Shock Towers
-HD Dog Boes
-4 Spider Diffs
-Dual Disk Breaks
-Custom Motor mount
-9L 5mm Shaft with 16t pinion

Here are a few pictures as well. only $400 shipped :)

Looks healty! Good price, too.

You would still need to et the ESC, correct?

I would go with a Revo for Racing and a Savy for Bashing, so I vote "depends" :D

Re~Mix 06.26.2005 03:44 PM

Bashing only by the way. Yup needs ESC, Tires, Servo.. that's where Mike comes in.

Dafni 06.26.2005 03:49 PM

Go for it! The Savy is said to be a tank!
Can't beat the price, IMO.

Re~Mix 06.26.2005 05:54 PM

Well, it seems as if no one is in opposition, so my xxx-t might have a new buddy, finally.

I still have some questions though. What is the best tread for all around bashing, say dirt, grass, street. Also, will the 620MG servo (from the unknown brand sold here at $21) do the trick for steering, because that's an amazing price.

RC-Monster Mike 06.26.2005 06:25 PM

I would go with the 630mg servo for that beast. I also agree that it is a nice deal and the savage is indeed a tough truck for bashing! Bowties are one of my favorite treads for most every terrain.

It seems like quite the nice alternative to building anything from the ground up, my cheap brushless maxx was into the $900's already. I'm just scared to run this 9L on a 16t pinion. Is that too high geared for 12 cells on the SS?

By the way mike, do you carry any non 40 series maxx/savage wheels or would I be better off just getting the RD Logic's premounted?

Serum 06.27.2005 02:51 AM

Normally the SS comes with a 49 tooth spur,

Based on that, you will get a 15.57 to 1 end ratio.. Which is a bit too high. Mike has got smaller pinions. a 13-14 tooth pinion is a better choice..

Nice ride that is..!!! Give it light wheels, like the HPI dirtbonz, with RPM stablemaxx titan rimms (one of the best 14mm wheels money can buy)

Re~Mix 06.27.2005 10:46 AM

Too bad mike doesn't carry those :(. Well, I have some serious thinking to do, since this is a ton of money to throw into RC when I already own a brushless xxx-t.
The Revo conversion also looks more appealing, for the same amount of money.

Serum 06.27.2005 06:19 PM

i don't know if you know anyone with a lathe? the 1/8th bores do come in 13 and 14..

I hope to have a lathe in the very near future. It would come in handy, for sure!

I carry more parts than I have listed in the store, and can get most anything for an r/c car. I do have the dirt bones in stock, actually, as well as a bunch of FLM savage parts and can get any hpi part. Simply ask and you shall receive!

squeeforever 06.28.2005 11:40 AM

so mike, how much would a set of hot racing purple 23mm hubs for 40 series rims cost me?

Re~Mix 06.28.2005 11:58 AM

Mike, I don't suppose you could match towers 19.99 bowties and 11.99 titan stablemaxx's?

Dafni 06.28.2005 12:48 PM

Don't want to be rude or offensive or anything, guys. Don't get me wrong, okay.

If I can buy something from a big multi seller company for a few dollars less than from a small place, I would still buy from the small place, where an actuall person tries to build a business of his own.
It's obvious why places like Tower will always get the edge on prices. (and this is not only for RC stuff, happens everywhere)

But in my opinion, the Fat Cats already get enough from the big masses. I always support the small man (local farmers, etc)

Don't forget what you get from personal relations. This forum here is a perfect example! Think about it.

Re~Mix 06.28.2005 12:53 PM

It never hurts to ask. I order my losi parts through mike now, since they are out of stock everywhere, or only in graphite from horizon.

I know that this is the wrong area, but the custom body link that you have on your site mike, doesn't go through.

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 05:35 PM

The link seemed to work for me just now when I tried it - perhaps their site was down?
For pricing, contact me through e-mail or PM and we can work it out. Some things (rpm wheels, for example), I can match no problem, while others I can get pretty close. I simply can't compete on some items without losing money, but I try to carry items and provide assistance to make RC-Monster the one stop shop. If you lose a dollar or so buying from me, you gain priceless info and dedicated support. I hope this makes sense. I work pretty hard at trying to keep the prices in the ballpark and I hope I can make up for the small indescrepancies by offering the kind of product support and general hobby knowlege you simply can't buy!

Re~Mix 06.28.2005 05:43 PM

And you do a great job at it, best priced brushless setups I have found anywhere! But, im always astonished to find why you have twice the items that you show in the store, I think an update is needed lol.

RC-Monster Mike 06.28.2005 06:18 PM

Yes, but it takes time upload and list items in the store. I agree, I do need to add a bunch of stuff. If there were more hours in a day, I would have done it days ago! When I get everything added, I will probably have to re-arrange the site again to keep it "shopper friendly" as well. If you need it, I can get (or already have it!). each day, I try to add an item or so, but admittedly I am a bit behind. I promise to get many more items loaded this weekend(pictures may or may not be there, though!).

Re~Mix 06.28.2005 11:48 PM

ehh ohh, I just came up with a $550 electric 1/8th buggy rtr with all new stuff. My number crunching may have paid off, the truth is, im just itching to run 12 cells, maybe i should throw it on the 4200 haha, another day when i feel like buying a new motor.
